She stretched, pressing the off button to her T.V. Tiara had just been watching Leverage, but it was a nice fall day, somewhere in the 70's. It was only Noon, she didn't want to pass her chance up. She was already showered, her shirt would do. She just needed to change into her jodphers. This took her no more than five minutes. With process simple as grabbing her keys, and jacket, she was out the door.
A matter of time saw her driving up the road to the stables. She parked her crappy little blue car, and stepped out, her black paddock boots crunching the gravel. Horse's sweet scents filled her head. She inhaled deeply, before shutting the door behind her and walking towards fields. She stopped by the stables to grab Lala's halter and lead first. She saw the bay grazing on the fence line. A little ways down she noticed a little paddock she hadn't seen any horse in in the few days she'd been here. Surely she wouldn't cause harm by using it. She slipped Lala's Halter over him, making a big fuss over playing with his velvety muzzle. She made an attempt to forget things troubling her. With the move came the need for a job so her parents, adoptive, the Kettlands, wouldn't be able to find excuses to continue paying off her entire bills.
She tied the lead around as reins to the ring on the other side. She brought him to the empty paddock and closed the gate, picking up a stick she had found under a tree. A long, thin stick. She held it out and walked towards Lala. He took off at a canter around the ring. She spoke up.
"Keep it" This was a command she had created for him to continue moving on his own while she vaulted. She pointed herself in the direction, taking off at a run a few strides before Lala reached that area. She bounced up just as he came around, and she found herself crouching on his back, tightening her muscles to avoid falling. She extended her legs and moved into a stand. Her arms were out for balance. Lala obediently continued cantering around the little square paddock. She slipped a little, but threw her weight to the side and regained herself. She bent her knees and jumped off, landing on her feet in the grass, breathing a little relaxtion moment. She had off times, quite often, Vaulting was hard.
She regained herself and repeat the process. She was soon back standing on lala's back. Now she took a step back, standing on his wide, round quarter horse butt. She bent over forward, and pushed off into a handstand. Lala flinched, throwing her off a little, but not much.
Suddenly her hand slid and she fell, smashing her nose on his spine. She lay silently in the grass for a few seconds, registering what had just happened. She faintly noticed the ache in her nose, but got back up. She rubbed her hand under her nose. No blood. She'd be fine. She noticed Lala had stopped cantering and was grazing. She whistled and ran towards him, waving her arms. He took off. She went back for him, bouncing, but this time letting herself settle into a normal riding position. She gathered her makeshift lead rope reins. She noticed now why this paddock was out of use. A fence rail she hadn't even noticed before was down. She smiled a little, pointing him towards it. Only the top two were down. Her legs dangled as she cantered bareback towards it. He jumped it well, landing with a thud. She jerked around a little, pain shooting to her nose, but she ignored it, slowing him to a walk. She made her way slowly to the barn, still horse back.
