Maggie grabbed a brush out of her tack box and took it into Honey's stall. "Hey, sweetie," she murmured as she slid the stall door open. Honey's ears pricked at the sound of Maggie's voice, and the mare nudged Maggie's arm. "Hmm, what do you want?" she laughed, pulling a carrot out of her pocket and giving it to the mare. Happily crunching on the carrot, Maggie ran the brush over the mare's golden coat. The Thoroughbred nodded her head as Maggie brushed, obviously satisfied with her treat and attention.
Maggie continued to brush the mare's coat until it gleamed. Then she saw a girl walk by with a nice looking Paint, headed for the indoor arena. Walking out of Honey's stall, Maggie traded the brush for a hoof pick in her tack box, and proceeded to clean out Honey's hooves. The mare yawned, as if to say, "Can't we do something exciting for once?" Maggie laughed at Honey's expression. "Later, girl. We'll go jumping soon."
Once she finished with Honey, she tossed the hoof pick back in the box. She glanced in the indoor arena, and saw that same girl with the Paint horse. Casually stepping into the arena, she called to the girl, "Hey, nice horse! What's his name?" Maggie hoped she wasn't interrupting anything, she was still pretty new to Crossfire Farms, and was trying to get to know people.
