just give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - Out of all people who needed a job, Danielle definitely wasn't one of them. Leaning against the counter of The Sugar Shack, she stared at the empty bakery and sighed. A job at the time had seemed like a good idea, kept her busy and out of harms way (not that she really did anything to be kept out of that way). Now, she wasn't too impressed by her "brilliant" idea to get a job, she really wanted to go lay on her couch and sleep. Between riding her horses and work, sleep was limited along with time just to do absolutely nothing. She missed that time, a lot. And the barn had once been a place for her to actually relax, but that quickly changed when somehow in her screwed up luck Faith ended up riding at the same place.
Now, relaxing wasn't an option.
All her life she had never been good enough, that there was always someone who was better than her. Somehow along the line her best friend had turned in to someone that she was compared too, that she'd never be better then. That's when things fell apart, and slowly best friends had fallen apart to hard competitors and enemies. Ever since then, things in her life still hadn't been the same. Sighing at the thought, she leaned forward on the counter and listened to the quiet radio playing outside. It was a slow day at work, and she really, really wanted to go home. There was nothing she could do, but wait.
Blue eyes stared at the clock, she still had another twenty minutes before her shift was over. 3:10 PM, the time seemed not to want to move. "Twenty to go," she told herself quietly. Sighing in irritation, she was just grateful that there was air conditioning in here rather than her being outside in the sweltering heat. She had been up at the crack of dawn to ride to avoid the heat, but it hadn't seemed to work that well. By the time she had managed to work two horses the temperature had rose up to almost unbearable. Giving up, she decided that she'd return later in the evening and hopefully work the others.
Looking from the door to the clock, she prayed that someone would show up to at least save her from dying of boredom whether it be making them a drink or getting them something to eat.

Walking along the sidewalk Crystal looked at the different shops. She was still new around here, and hadn’t gone out much since she had arrived. Making sure Repeat and Shutter settled in well. They both had so she decided that she would venture out. That, and it was too hot to do anything else. Saying it was hot was unusual for Crystal, but it was true. The heat never really bothered her. In fact she normally relishes it and loathes when the temperature drops too low. Though living in Australia then Las Vegas could do that to you. Letting her green eyes scan around the shops around the street. Looking to her right she saw a clothing shop that looked good to her. Walking in she walked right back out due to the ridiculous amount of people in the store. Seeing all the people she figured that the store was likely a good one, but didn’t want to deal with the amount of people that happened to be there. She would admit that dealing with people wasn’t her strong point. Sure, she was a social person, but with her quick bitchy snaps she could be quite mean. She was trying to change that, and be a calmer, nicer person, but as of yet she hasn’t succeeded to well. Though she attributed that to all the years of fights and abuse she took from many different people. Looking over to her left she saw a cute little treat shop that she thought would be good to try.
Quickly glancing at both sides of the road she walked across it. If it was one thing that she wasn’t afraid of, it was cars and their drivers. High speeds and recklessness didn’t scare her, nor did headlights coming straight at her in the dark. Reaching the other side of the road she opened the door to the shop and felt the instant cool of the shop. Closing her eyes for a quick second she opened them again and saw a shorter, blonde girl that looked vaguely familiar. “The coolness is heavenly.” Crystal said in a natural Australian accent, and giving the girl a slight smile. Reading over the menu quickly she walked up to the counter. “Just a water and a chocolate muffin.” She said to the girl who she knew she recognized. Her face was so familiar and yet she couldn’t think of a name. Racking her memory for something about this girl she waited quietly for her things, and before she paid.

just give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - There were so many things she would rather be doing right now. Like sitting in her air conditioned house checking up on the Monster and Monger updates, she was quite curious to see if Faith had replied to her earlier comment. The two had gotten in to a little dispute over Monger's latest show entry. Not that it bothered her much at all, there wasn't anything that Faith could do or say to hurt her anymore- the damage between the two had been broken years ago. Some days she looked back on the broken friendship and felt familiar pangs of sorrow, missing the closeness that the two had once shared. But she let the thought go as quick as it came, she knew that she couldn't change the past but merely the future. She had learned from her mistakes, and she knew not to make the same ones again.
Looking up as the familiar bell went off warning her that someone had entered. Beaming at the girl, she swore she had seen her at the barn or at shows before. Straightening up, she nodded in agreement about her comment about the air conditioning. "I agree! It's like 200 degrees out there," she said quickly before reciting the familiar line, "Welcome to The Sugar Shack, how can I help you?" It was pounded in to her skull from the weeks she had worked here, and she was proud to say she could pretty much blend any beverage without any doubt. At first it had been almost overwhelming to try and serve the crowded place of people who'd want something to drink, or a sweet, but she wasn't trying to boast- but she could make a mean iced latte and a great batch of cookies.
"Alrighty," she said, grinning as she went to fetch a bottle of water and a chocolate muffin. Setting it down on the counter she passed it to the girl and standing over at the till. Quickly punching in her order, she was already sure what the total was but it didn't hurt for her to double check. "That comes to $2.57, please."
Scanning the girl over once more, she couldn't help but to have her curiosity get the best of her. "Do you ride horses at Crossfire Farms by any chance?" She asked curiously. "Sorry, it's just you look familiar."

Watching the girl grab the things she ordered she tried to keep thinking of who she was. Crystal knew she had seen her around, but couldn’t place a name to her face. When she came back she gave a nod at the total. Placing her purse on the counter she took out the five dollar bill and handed it to her. “Thanks. Keep the change.” She said to the kind girl with a smile. This girl seemed happy that someone had come in. Right now, Crystal couldn’t see any reason to leave. It was cool, and it was still boiling outside, and she really didn’t want to face that right now. Taking her things and just moving off to the side of the counter since the shop was empty she thought she might try to strike up some conversation with the girl. Looking down at a things and picking a piece off of her muffin and placing it in her mouth as she ate it silently.
As the girl spoke and asked her if she rode at Crossfire that’s when she clued in to where she had seen her from. “Ahh, yes yes yes.”’ Crystal said with a nod and moving her eyes from her order to the girl. “I knew you looked familiar as well.” She said moving one of her hands to the bottle and turned the top, opening it. After she opened it she put the top back on. Thinking what else she could say to the girl she wondered how long she had been here. Crystal herself was still new to the farm, but she was thinking that this other girl had been here longer, since she had a job and all. “Because my memory is failing me, and I cannot remember if we’ve met I’m Crystal.” She said looking at the girl then letting her eyes take a quick glance at the shop. It was surprisingly empty in what Crystal thought would be a popular spot. Letting her eyes move back to the girl she smiled slightly. “How long have you been here?” she said motioning with her hand to Crossfire and the shop.

Grinning in appreciation as she mentioned that she could keep the change, she placed the money in the till and beamed at her. "Wow, thanks!" It wasn't every day that such kind people would come through and give her change, usually she'd just get a half assed smile or a dirty look. Usually the dirty look, the smile wasn't a very usual occurrence. Leaning on the counter as the girl said she did ride, she grew suddenly much more interesting in the customer she had recently helped.
She loved to talk, and if it was about horses? It was even better. Every single one of the animals that she owned, she loved them dearly. Expression brightening drastically as she looked at the girl, grinning enthusiastically. "That makes a lot more sense, yeah! I recognized you too," she babbled on, leaning against the counter. The petite blond scrunched her face up for a moment in thought, trying to remember if they had ever met. Her mind pulled up a blank, and she was usually really good with names. She doubted that they had ever met because of that.
"I don't believe we have met," she said honestly. "Hello, Chrystal. It's nice to meet you. I'm Danielle, but you can call me Dani for short." She wasn't a fan of being called Danielle, and there wasn't any real reason behind it, her nickname had been given to her so long ago and it simply stuck. "Oh, quite a while now. I want to say almost a year, maybe not that long? I moved down here from Connecticut, I've been kind of bounced back and forth, I've lived in Texas before so it isn't really my first time being here." She stopped herself, realizing she was babbling on. "Sorry, I talk a lot. But I've worked here for a couple of weeks," she added quickly.
"What about yourself? How long have you lived in the lovely town of Addison for?"
She hadn't seen her around too much, so she was assuming that she was new. "Do you ride English or Western?" She asked, her curiosity getting the best of her.

Listening to the girl talk she hoped that maybe she might be her first friend in the town. Crystal didn’t know anybody, and this was her first real conversation with anyone. She wanted to guess her age, guessed that she was likely a year or so younger than her. Remembering back two years ago all she could think about were fights. There were usually multiple ones every day. Some she started and others she was forced into. By close to nineteen she had gotten smarter and began to start to gradually leave from her mother and current step-father. Eventually she left and found herself in Texas. When the girl was quite happy when she let her keep the change she smiled. “Change is bothersome. Hated counting it out when I was a cashier.” Crystal said watching her.
There was a certain happiness to Dani and it seemed to rub off onto Crystal who normally had a bit more of a rude edge. She couldn’t put her finger on it since she normally wasn’t affected this quickly by people. Maybe she was letting her guard down a little since she rode at Crossfire? Or was it because the girl was quite happy? Whatever it was, Crystal was glad for it. Waving off when Dani said that she talked a lot she gave a small laugh. “Talking a lot is better than talking too little.” She said with a smile.
“Nice to meet you too Dani. Feel free to call me Crys if you like, or whatever else you wish.” Crystal told Dani. It really didn’t make a difference what people called her as long as she knew it was directed at her. “You’ve been here a while then. I’ve only been here a couple weeks, or maybe a month or so. I don’t remember, not long. I’ve travelled too much lately to keep track of these things.” She said with a small laugh. “I ride English. Dressage mostly. Though my mare is on the edge of dressage and jumpers. Trying to figure out which she’ll be better for. I’ve never really done Western. There is a Western saddle somewhere amongst my things, but it hasn’t been used much.” Crystal answered, not minding the questions. She would admit she was a bit of an English snob, but it was just what she did best. “What about yourself?” she asked before she took a sip of her water before glancing around the shop again. She was trying to think of something else to ask the girl, but her mind was drawing a blank.

just give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - The girl was one of the first to ever tell her that talking more rather than less was a good thing. She was use to people simply ignoring her, or telling her to shut up. It was such an often occurrence that she never even got offended now, and just took it to close her mouth. Tapping her fingers lightly against the counter as she watched the girl, she just shrugged lightly. “I'm glad you think so, a lot of people disagree and think I talk to much. I can't help it, I guess, I just have a lot to say.” A lot was almost an understatement, she always had something to say whether her input was wanted or not. Not that there really was much negativity that came from the girl, except the odd exception. Which right now, was Faith Morris, anything involving the girl seemed to immediately put her in a bad mood, and she had no real reason to even try and say anything positive about her. Deep down, she knew that it was only like this because she missed the older girl. Years ago the two had been the best of friends, but the competitive flame burned them out to an extent where they just didn't get along anymore.
Seeing her every day at the barn and being in lessons with her really wasn't doing her much good. Grace was now convinced she was some random crazy bitch who had it out for Faith, but she didn't know the background between them, and the real side of the girl that her riding instructor plainly just couldn't see. As she told her that she had travelled around she watched her with a curious gleam in her eyes. “It must be nice to travel. I've been here, there and everywhere for horse shows, but never really got to look around. Have you been anywhere international, like Europe?” She asked curiously, she was almost certain she had gone to every single state, but never had she gone out the United States- except to Canada on several occasions (all horse show related though).
The moment the girl mentioned dressage and jumpers, the girl brightened up completely. She had never done real dressage, a ton of flatwork had been drilled in to her skull, but never the higher level dressage. “Dressage seems so cool, I've never really done it. I mean, like the lower level movements we do in flat lessons, but like the higher level stuff seems so impressive,” she babbled on, grinning at her. In the back of her mind she wondered how high the girl schooled, and how high they jumped. She stopped herself from asking it, not yet at least. “It's always good for them to be all around at both,” she added in to her comment about seeing where the mare was stronger. Grace always went on about having versatile horses to excel wherever they went.
“Hunters and jumpers, always have been and probably always will be,” she said smiling. “Do you have just one horse?” She couldn't help but to ask, “how high do you show? Maybe we've competed against each other before.”

Hearing the girl talk about travelling Crystal realized that she hadn’t really done any travelling to see things. Her travelling was all for escaping, and running away than to explore and see the world. Even though that’s what her travelling was about she missed it. The constant change of place, and never knowing where the road would take you next. She had never been one to stay in one place for long, but she was hoping to stay in Addison for awhile. It seemed like a good place to be, and all the horses were great. When the girl mentioned Europe, it got her attention again. “No, not Europe yet. One day, hopefully. If you count Australia I lived there until I was fifteen.” She said with a small smile before putting a piece of the muffin in her mouth and eating it. “Only been in the States and Australia. I sadly haven’t ventured out of either. Out of the two, I must say I prefer Australia, and not just because I lived there most of my life.” She said thinking back to how she chose to remember how good her life was in Australia.
“Dressage is amazing. Want to know the real reason I got into it? The extended trot. The flick of the hooves and just seeing how far they can reach.” She said with a grin. Dressage was her sport simply because of one simple movement. “Thinking that over, it makes it seem that I don’t like it for anything else. Apart from that, it is a lot of work, but fun. You should try some of the higher movements. I’ve got a horse that you’d have fun trying out.” she said to the girl starting to talk about her beloved Repeat. The poor guy was blind, but was amazing at dressage. “That I agree with. I just wish I could figure out which she is better at so I can focus on that.” She thought aloud since Shutter kept changing her preference. First she would have extreme talent over fences, then she would have impressive movement and be a klutz over the jumps.
Listening as she said that she did hunters and jumpers she wondered if she did some low jumper classes. “Oh, you do hunters and jumpers? Sweet. I’ve never really gotten the difference between the two, except that hunter jumps are supposed to look more natural or something.” Crystal spoke to the girl. “For horses I have two. A blind Lipizzaner stallion and a Czech Warmblood mare. Both are great. How about yourself?” she answered the girl with a smile. “For jumping I do welcome and low jumper. Not too high, but I don’t want to push my mare since she’s still young. I think we might’ve competed against each other, I’m not too sure.” She replied to the girl. Her talking didn’t bother Crystal and she found it nice since she hadn’t really talked to anybody yet. For right now she decided to just let the girl talk, since she couldn’t come up with anything to ask her.

just give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - Australia? That was such a long distance to travel, but she didn't ask why. Most of the reasons for people moving were personal, and after the last person she met and asked why they moved hadn't gone down well. She may talk a lot, but she learned the boundaries quickly and what not places to touch. In her mind she tried to imagine what it would be like to live in Australia, but she just couldn't figure it out. Pulling up a blank at just trying to think of the place, she hadn't even really seen pictures even. Lighting up as she mentioned horses, now the girl would just go on and on. When she said she could try her horse, her eyebrows shot up slightly and she watched her with a surprised expression. “Really?” She said quickly, “that would be really awesome! You could ride one of my horses too, it'd be a fair trade.” It was unlike her to even think of letting someone else sit on one of her many horses, but she couldn't help but to trust the girl from just talking to her.
Her comment about not knowing the difference between hunters and jumpers made her grin, she had the differences implanted in her skull over the years. “Jumpers get the job done, but hunters do it in style,” she recited. “Well, basically hunters are just supposed to look effortless and aren't timed, or at least that's what I've been told.” She shrugged, but continued to smile like always. Her stallion was blind? That was something new. Most people didn't have blind horses, not trusting their lack of judgement. It really caught her interest that she kept it, she didn't know what she'd do if one of her horses went blind, because they couldn't really jump without a train of sight. That would just be dangerous. Hesitating at her asking about how many horses she had, she always felt like she was bragging when she went on about her horses. Not many people could afford to have five, and she felt bad when she'd go off about it- she knew she was lucky to have the parents to pay for it all.
“Well, I have a handful of them,” she said, keeping her tone light. “I've definitely shown against you, I show my two ponies in the low and welcome jumpers. I've been showing Kaelee in them for a long time, I've had her since I was like fourteen.” The dark bay pony had been good to her rider, packing her through many hunter and pony finals over the years. Running her fingers through the ends of her blond hair, she contemplated how to go on about the next bit. “Then my others get shown in the higher hunters and jumpers. I'm hoping to take my one horse in the Grand Prix's one day.. but we have quite a way to go. He's a lot more horse than I'm use too. It doesn't help that he's so big, and I'm so small.” She gestured to herself, only standing at 5'3. “But it's getting easier, my coach, Grace use to ride him a couple times of week to help me out. But, she's pregnant now so I'm on my own- it's going well... so far.” Laughing lightly, “but we'll see. The other ones aren't an issue though, just him. Except Ambitious... he can be a bit much, but not like Warwick.”
She realized that it probably was quite confusing with all her horses. “Sorry, there's quite a few of them- it gets a bit confusing to listen too.”

Crystal gave a nod as the girl said that she could ride one of her horses she began to look forward to it. From riding her two everyday she was starting to think that she was getting too used to them and needed to try something different. Although she didn’t know this girl very well she was willing to let her ride the blind stallion she had. For being blind he was very gentle and trusting and placed trust in whomever was looking after him. One thing was for sure, she’d have to remember this girl since she seemed quite happy and just the person to fill her in about things here.
When she explained the difference between hunters and jumpers it began to make sense. The hunter classes did seem like they did everything perfectly and without effort. “Now that you say that, that sounds like it makes perfect sense.” She said with a nod. Though out of both she still preferred dressage which some would consider odd since she could be the most impatient person in the world. There was something about dressage that kept her hooked for whatever reason though. Even with her thoroughly rooted in dressage Shutter seemed determined to get her into jumpers. The mare was between dressage and jumpers and was bipolar as to what she was good at.
“I’ll have to make sure I watch out for you then. Don’t need a pony beating me,” She said with a joking laugh before she continued, “that was a poor joke. Feel free to let them grow wings and fly around the course.” The last part was accompanied with a warming smile. After saying that, she hoped the girl didn’t take it the wrong way. It wasn’t meant to be offensive, just something to have a small laugh. When the girl talked about her five horses she found it a bit confusing. Usually she was good at figuring out what others meant, but right now she just concentrated on what she could figure out. “Sounds like you’ve got your hands full. I hope he settles down some for you.” Crystal said with a smile. “I bet it’s fun though, having the five; even with all the work.” She said thinking to when she lived in Australia and all the horses. Her family bred Quarter horses and cattle. It was enjoyable, even though she never really did get into Quarter horses too much. That’s what got her into horses and into riding. On that thought she wondered what got the girl into riding and so she asked “Now I’m curious, what got you into horses and riding?”

just give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - Laughing quietly as she the girl told her she didn't need a pony beating her. She had heard that many times, but never had it been a joke like that. At the bigger, higher rated shows she use to often show her pony out from the pony restricted classes, getting dirty looks and laughter when they'd walk in to the ring. But they had always underestimated the young girl and her pony, the two could manage the tightest rollbacks and keep the faster pace that some of the bigger warmbloods simply couldn't do. Whenever pony finals came around, she kept that pride in mind as she cantered in to the ring. All her life she had been riding ponies, and she couldn't really see it any other way. Even at seventeen, she had yet to outgrow them. Her goal was to win everything at the finals, the hunter, jumper and medal. She had been so devastatingly close years ago when a surprise stop in the last round of the hunter final took her by surprise, sending her over her pony's neck and taking the bridle with her.
The title she had been so close to winning had been handed over to Faith within an instant. Some of the bitterness had began to grow there, watching her take her dream away from her. Or at least one of them, she had been taught to dream big, and that was exactly what she did. Neither of her ponies needed a pair of wings, they seemed to be spring loaded instead. Leaning on the counter, she reached over and grabbed a muffin for herself, grabbing some change out of her back pocket and setting it down so she wouldn't forget to put it in the till. Taking a piece off the top, she popped it in her mouth and watched her curiously. Nodding at it being a bit of a handful, especially Warwick- the grand prix calibre horse had a mind of his own.
“It can be, some days it's easier than others. I'm definitely busy though. I love it though, it takes a lot to ride them all, most of them don't get done every day since I still go to school and work,” she explained. “I've considered dropping the job, but I feel bad and want to help my parents pay the bills.” As if they needed any help paying the bills, money seemed to literally grow on trees for them. She liked to think that she was helping out a bit though. Popping another piece of muffin in her mouth, she frowned in thought at what got her in to riding. The pure thought of having a sport where her sister or brother couldn't outshine her was the simple answer.
“Well, it's gonna sound horrible. But basically when I was about nine I wanted to find a sport where I didn't have to meet up to the expectations that my older brother and sister had set. So I decided to try riding because neither of them would touch horses. I ended up falling in love with them, and the sport and can't see my life any other way,” pausing thoughtfully, she raised an eyebrow at the girl, “what about you?”

Giving a nod when Dani said she wanted to help her parents pay the bills Crys took another small piece from the muffin and ate it. “I would say I understand that feeling of wanting to help pay for something, but for me it was more the opposite.” She said without thinking. Thinking her words over she realized that made her seem like a spoiled brat. “That should be clarified actually. It was the opposite because of the things that were done to me by various people my mother called boyfriends and husbands…” Crystal said her voice softly trailing off at the end. Talking about what went on with her when she was younger wasn’t one of her favourite subjects and normally she would fight her way out of it, but something about the kind girl made her easy to talk to. “The job is good though. Good way to earn money and get experience.” She said with an approving nod. Getting a job was one thing she never did. Unless you count her working as a stripper for a little bit, as well as some street racing, but according to the government she has never had a job.
Thinking about working was one thing she couldn’t do. The only jobs she would be able to succeed in would be ones without lots of people. People only made her angry and caused her pain. There were a few exceptions to this, but most of the time that was what happened. She was working on trying to change that though. Work on people skills to lessen the need to fight that raged within her. For now that just consisted of her not saying anything, and staying away from alcohol. The alcohol just made her more like to snap and get herself in a good fight.
Listening as Dani told her about how she got into the sport she ate a couple pieces of the muffin. Finding something that her brother and sister didn’t do made sense. It was hard following in other’s footsteps and you’d only be compared to them. Though she never had to compete with any siblings she understood that. “At least you found something you love out of doing something different.” Crystal said with a smile.
When she asked what got her into riding she thought back to Australia and everything there. “Well back in Australia my family owns a horse and cattle ranch. Don’t ask me anything about cows though, can’t really tell you anything. The horses though are actually good horses. Mainly western horses but there were a few that got switched to English for me to ride. I got caught up in dressage and one day my pony was dead and I stopped for awhile. Talking to my aunt got me back into it and my mom bought me my stallion as a weanling colt from Austria a few years later. From then it just stayed with me.” She said with a bit of a smile. That whole story there made her seem like she was spoiled, but the biggest thing about Repeat was that he was a bit of a bribe from her mother. Pausing on the memory of Repeat she remembered the day she got him and the little black colt was confused and terrified. Staying with him that night in his stall was the night that the two of them became one. Thinking about everything good about Australia she snapped out of her daydream and glanced over at Dani and gave her a smile.

just give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - She fell silent at the mention of her mother going through many different boyfriends and husbands. In a way, she felt a bit of pity for the girl. Although her and her father didn't exactly get along on the greatest terms, she was glad that she had the opportunity to grow up the way she did. In a stable home with a constant set of parents, even if they drove her crazy. Her siblings were probably something that she could have done without, but they did bring her done to recognize her place and learn respect quickly, something that many didn't really get to learn, and when it was taught it would hit them like a smack in the face.
Yet there were many other lessons that she had yet to learn which would hit her harder than anything.
For a moment she wanted to apologize to the girl, and she wasn't quite sure why. Sorry that she never had the stable parenting that she had and that she never got that opportunity. She ended up just keeping her mouth closed for once, biting the inside of her cheek gently. That was something that most probably didn't want sympathy for, or at least the friends that she had back in Connecticut who came from broken homes didn't want anyone's sympathy or apologies. Maybe this girl was different, but she didn't take that chance to find out. Instead she just nodded sadly showing that she understood.
"Yeah, I guess that's true," she said in reply to her comment about her job. "It's a pain in the ass though, and it takes up a lot of time," she laughed lightly as she spoke, because it was true. She found herself nodding again as the girl spoke about how she did find something she loved, half of her wondered if even she hadn't liked it if she would have continued just to show that she did something different. Listening to Crystal's story about being in Australia, once again she had the girls full attention. She had always wanted to travel out of the country. Sure she had been to almost every state, but there was something about different countries that intrigued her more.
"Oh no,"
she murmured in shock at the comment about her pony dying. "That's horrible about your pony, I'm sorry to hear that," she said sincerely. "What happened to her... I mean, how did she. Well, pass away?""He must be lovely. I'm definitely going to go find him next time I'm at the barn to get a better look at him. How old is he now?" She asked curiously. She couldn't help herself for asking so many questions. It was just the way she had always been, a thousand and one questions when it came to horses.
