give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - Somehow within the last week and a half, she had managed to get incredibly behind in AP Chemistry. Laying flat out on her bed with her textbook, notebook and binder set in front of her she tried to figure it out once more. She had been doing alright with 94% in the class, but somehow managed to drop to 82% which had been a wake up call for her to get her shit together. Needless to say, when her teacher had called her parents (which she hadn't been aware of) they had pretty much tried to beat her head in with her textbook. Most parents did that to their kids with a bible, but not hers, they decided that academics needed to be pounded in to their skulls. Which was hard with both of her siblings who flew through high school with top marks and flawless GPA's. She on the other hand was not as lucky. Running her fingers through her hair in frustration, she sighed at her notes as she read through them again. She really needed to start paying attention in class again, sitting lazily at the back of the classroom and playing x's and o's and listening to her friends bitch probably hadn't been the greatest idea on her part.
It had been foolish of her to even think that she could keep up with what was going on, usually she didn't have a single problem with Chemistry. Suddenly she had missed something that went right over her head (failing the last three tests, and two quizzes had proved that). The longer she stared at her notes, the more it made her really want to pound her head in a wall. She almost felt like she was trying to read them in a different language, that was how far behind she had gotten herself. Giving up with that, she slammed her books shut and shoved them off her bed. They landed with a loud thunk, she she just laid there with her face pressed in her comforter, groaning in frustration. Her cell phone vibrating on her bed side table, indicating she had a text message finally got her to move. Reading the text message, she sighed loudly in irritation at the sender. Some random boy (conveniently from her Chemistry class) wanted to go for coffee. She already had plans for the evening, and realized that her said plans were going to be arriving any minute now. Not even bothering to reply, she muttered a string of profanity under her breath as she collected things and shoved them in to her bag.
She had learned a couple of things about Aubrey pretty quick within the couple of days she had spent with him. One being that he wasn't pleasant to be around when hungover, and the other thing being that he always was on time. There was a lot more than that, but those two had stuck out the most. Swinging her bag over her shoulder, she made her way downstairs with her cell phone in hand. Her earlier intentions had been to get out of the house before he came so he wouldn't have to deal running in to her parents, and that plan could still work if she moved quick enough. In her parents minds, Aubrey was not in their good books right now. Shaking her head at the thought, she prodded through the living room in hopes to avoid her father.
Unluckily for her, he was sitting on the couch reading the newspaper.
“Where are you going?” He asked, looking up from what he was reading. “Out.” “At six o'clock, and on a Wednesday night? Who with?” “Yes, yes and with a friend.” “Is it that boy?” “What boy?” “You know who I'm talking about, Danielle.” “No, I really don't,” she said, now beginning to get clearly irritated. “I think you do.”
Not even bothering to answer that, she left the living room and realized that the shoes she wanted to wear were still upstairs. Of course, with her luck this when Aubrey conveniently decided to come and knocked on the door. She cringed inwardly as she went ripping through her room to find her shoes. Pulling out the flats, she slid them on and made her way downstairs once more. Not knowing that her agitated father had answered the door and let Aubrey in, the upcoming events were something that she would never have expected.

my teeth and ambitions are bared! If there was one thing Aubrey knew about Dani’s home life, it was that her parents were beginning to hate him. Unlike most young men, Aubrey knew exactly why they disliked him. First off, he had popped their daughter’s cherry (something he was sure they suspected), returned her hung over on numerous occasions and past curfew all times. What was worse was the first date he had ended up sending her home by foot in the cold pouring rain with an umbrella with two big holes in it simply because he had been hung over and reluctant to drive, he could have easily given her money for a cab, but he wasn’t going to fork over a single cent for the young woman. He also knew that her grades were slipping, she had confided in him that she had recently failed a test in one of her classes.
Of course, being the concerned man that he was, he simply told her to ‘fuck school’.
Education hadn’t been important to him, he had a hard time understanding people’s devotion to school and higher education, but most people did it to keep up a lifestyle; he however had plenty of money to fuel him for the rest of his life so there was no reason for him to care about school and no one could force him to do such a thing. The only thing he cared about was did he have enough money to pay for his horses, gas, house, and car and did he have clean clothes. If so, he was happy and could focus on other things without having to worry.
It was his idea to go on a date on a Wednesday night.
After noticing the dirty looks her parents had given him the last time they met up, it had suddenly become top priority to bother them to no end; step one being taking her daughter out on a school night and not planning to return her the next day, simply making her walk to school (or if he was feeling ok, he’d drive her). He knew full well what kind of people he was dealing with, he had come into contact with over-bearing parents like them while at NAYRC, so many mothers and fathers standing on the sidelines screaming at their kids to go bigger, go harder, do better and win. Her parents did not seem any different, and they were a perfect play toy for a bored cat.
As usual, Aubrey was right on time.
Killing the engine in his car he slowly walked up to their front door and knocked, wondering who’d answer the door. To his complete lack of surprise, her father answered the door –looking rather irritated to boot. Smiling a fake smile at the man he was invited in and told that his daughter wasn’t going anywhere with him that night. Bingo, Aubrey had finally hit a nerve, and he hit it hard. Only maintaining his smile he looked at her father and said, Really? I think I’ve been doing a very good job at keeping her alive when she’s with me. “You’ve brought her back drunk and hung over!” Negative, it’s impossible to be drunk and hung over at the same time, which one is it? Drunk or hung over? I’d say hung over, there’s no harm in a little barf, right? At that moment, her mother walked into the room and glared at him with a stare that could kill if it had been a weapon. Calm in the face of hatred Aubrey only smiled at her and nodded his head in a greeting. Her mom was standing a little behind her husband, as if slightly afraid that Aubrey’d lunge at them at any moment.
Lucky for them, he was not a psychotic person like that.
Behind them, Dani was coming down the stairs, he smiled at her and said, Evening baby- “Don’t call her that.” Ok, evening sweet- “Or that.” Oh Jesus Christ, what the fuck am I supposed to call her then? Tramp? Whore? Non-Virgin? Her mother’s eyes widened at the last ‘nickname’ and her face turned red with frustration, Aubrey was having way too much fun with this when she finally burst out, “YOU’VE FUCKED, HAVEN’T YOU?” A little taken aback at the question, Aubrey grinned as Dani retreated to his side, wrapped an arm around her (grabbing her ass as he did so) and pulled her close to him, Why of course we have. Little did he know, he was waltzing into a dangerous territory that would only spell disaster in the end.

give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - Right now, she definitely wished that she would have made it downstairs to the door a good two minutes earlier before her father had a chance to answer it. Stopping mid way on the stair case, she just sighed to herself and didn't really want to go all the way down there quite yet. She knew very well that Aubrey was just going to go along and say what he could to watch her parents squirm and piss them off. Rubbing her face at the thought already, she listened to their conversation for a moment before deciding that it would be treading on even thinner ice if she left it any longer. The ice was already dangerously thin between them, and it was only a certain time before the amount of weight would cause it to break and for them to go crashing in to the frigid water. In this case, one wrong word would probably send her parents (especially her father) in to a bout of rage, with Aubrey being the target of it. She smiled back at him when he noticed her, but it faded quickly as her parents cut him off. Now she knew this was going to go no where good quickly, and she hurried over to his side. What she said next made her cringe, and slowly looking over at her parents nervously she could already see the shock and anger building up.
The thin layer of ice they were standing on finally broke.
She wanted to pretty much sink in to the ground right now. There wasn't anything more awkward than her parents discovering she wasn't a virgin, especially after she had told her mother that that there was definitely nothing intimate going on between her and Aubrey just days ago. It had been probably one of the biggest lies she had ever told her, but it had all been for a good reason. By the way her parents looked at her right now, they were pretty much throwing daggers at her and sending her in to her grave. If she keeled over dead right now, her parents would happily just throw her in to the ground without a funeral. She had been quite shocked at her mother's outburst, and just sighed, resisting all urges to press her face in to her hands and hide in a corner. His arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer (she didn't care that his hand was on her ass, she had grown use to that). Aubrey had troubles keeping his hands to himself, not that she minded. Pressing herself against him and resting her head against his side slightly, she watched her parents, feeling a bit more safe being closer to him. If they decided to do something stupid she could just hide behind him, considering he was a good five or more inches taller than her.
But Aubrey would probably stick her out in front of him, rather than allowing her to hide.
Her parents just stared at them in silence, and her father was the first one to break it. “You're not seeing him anymore.” Rolling her eyes at her father, she just shook her head. She had been expecting this for awhile now. “Yeah, I am.” “No, you're not.” “I'm not going to argue with you over this.” “As long as you live under my roof, you'll do what I tell you to do.” “Really?” “I'm being nice about this, Danielle. You can either listen to what I'm telling you, or get the fuck out.”
Laughing, she raised her brow at her father challengingly for a moment. “Fine,” she said, pulling away from Aubrey, her parents almost looked relieved thinking that she was actually going to stop seeing him. “I'll get my shit then.”
Leaving Aubrey with her two parents, she made her way off upstairs, ignoring the sounds of their voices being raised at him. For a moment, she swore that she heard her father asking him if he loved her. That just made her shake her head, wandering in to her room she just started shoving handfuls of clothing in to her bag. In her mind she thought of places that she could go, she hoped that Aubrey would let her stay with him. She wouldn't be all that surprised if she slept on the couch, but at least she had a roof over her head. If that failed, she wondered if Faith would let her stay. She hadn't actually talked to Faith in a week or more, so that would be a bit random. Running her fingers through her hair, she continued to toss things in. She had enough friends that if she harassed them enough one of them would say say yes and let her move in. Deciding that she had enough things for now, she returned back downstairs.
“I'll get the rest later,” she finally said, moving to Aubrey's side once more.

my teeth and ambitions are bared! Historically, Aubrey was one of the worst people a young lady could bring home to her parents. Few mothers and fathers wanted to know that instead of the well rounded young English gentleman standing in their living room who looked like he knew how to balance check books and hold doors open for old ladies and most women was nothing but an out of control little boy who was searching for a little bit of chaos and disorder in a world of boxed in office spaces and laws. He was a man of spontaneity and devilish deeds; Aubrey King did not understand how to party in reserve, he was going to go all out, go hardcore or go home sober. There was no middle ground with the man.
It was his way or no way at all.
Dani clung to him in a desperate manner, as if thinking that if her parents came at them he’d stand his ground and protect her. Well, he’d most certainly stand his ground, but the last thing that’d be on his mind was protecting her. Alas, another problem with him. He was self centered, unable to look beyond his own nose and gaze out at the world before him and know that there were other people out there besides him with an equal amount of dreams and aspirations that they wanted to reach just like him, that they too needed certain things in their life to assure the completion of their goals. It would probably be a long time before he recognized the needs of other people, and perhaps never when he’d realize that he might have a little power to do something for them, never believing that he’d be able to help himself in the end.
Aubrey was his own king, god, president, and master.
Danielle’s father began to yell at her, Aubrey’s eyes widened a bit as the man basically threatened to kick his daughter out, even more shocked to find that Danielle agreed. She ripped her hand away from his arm and stormed up upstairs, leaving Aubrey back in the crossfire of her parent’s fury. He grinned at them, but her father was going to have none of his charm and screamed at him, “DO YOU EVEN LOVE HER?” Staring at the man he wondered how high his iq was. Aubrey did not even look like the type to ‘love’ humans. In fact, to him they were all pawns in his scheme of life, each had a separate meaning as a whole, but received no affection as an individual. Crossing his arms he rocked back onto his heels a little and provided her parents with a rather unsatisfactory answer, Love is a really, really, really complicated thing. I’d rather use the term ‘fancy’. I fancy your daughter, but perhaps not to the point that I’d see to her own safety. One day when she’s out on the streets, alone, cold, and being butt raped by a crystal meth addict, and you come to blame it on me, I will simply point the blame back to you two unsightly things who call themselves parents. They stared at him, and he smiled back at Dani as she came down the stairs and said she’d get her other stuff later.
Without hesitation he drove her towards the door and dragged her into the car, almost shoving her in the passenger side before hopping in on the driver’s side and getting out of there before her parents shot him.
Driving a little ways, he stared blankly at the road and said, Where do I need to take you? Not really keen on the idea of her staying with him. She remained silent to his answer and only looked blankly out the window, perhaps stunned that he wasn’t taking her back to his house. After a while of silence he began to hear a snuffling sound, as if she was starting to cry. Slowly looking over at her he narrowed his eyes and said, Hey, no crying, absolutely no crying at all.

give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - She didn't even look over her shoulder as Aubrey lead her outside, dragging her shit behind her without even one bitter glance in the direction of her shocked parents staring after the two. He hurried her along, practically shoving her in the car as she climbed in. Setting her shit at her feet, she leaned back and closed her eyes tightly. Now that she had a moment to cool the frustration, the more she thought about it the less great of an idea that whole situation had been. It hadn't been good to piss off her parents, the ones who paid for her horses and lessons. That really, really wasn't a good idea. There was no way in hell she would be able to pay for them herself, considering she had five, and she didn't expect that anyone would help her out. Not that she'd want them too, she'd feel guilty if they did. Sighing as she stared out the window, driving by the familiar houses that blurred along as they picked up speed. Supporting herself would be almost impossible, and buying for board for five horses was out of the question. In her mind she dreaded having to pick out which ones would have to go, but she swallowed hard and pushed that back. She had a whole couple weeks to figure that out considering her parents had paid in advanced for everything, which she was now quite thankful for.
Silence fell between them as she stared out the window, her throat still tight with frustration. She didn't let herself cry, she never allowed herself to cry. Which was proving to be hard right now, everything seemed to feel like it was weighing down on her shoulders. She took a deep, shaky breath and listened wordlessly to Aubrey's question about where she wanted to go. It wasn't all that shocking that he wasn't going to take her to his house, it had been a nice thought for her to actually think that he'd take her in. She didn't answer him, because she didn't quite have an answer. There were few people that she was actually close enough to for them to allow her in to their house, but for a long period of time she doubted that would really work out. Rubbing her face, she clenched her jaw hard and continued to fight back the tears. She couldn't look at Aubrey, she didn't have an answer for him either.
Giving up on holding back the tears, she let a couple stray ones fall down her cheeks. Sniffling to herself, she reached up and wiped them away. She could feel his eyes on her, and his comment made her clench her jaw harder and force herself to stop crying. Feeling stupid for even letting out a couple stray tears, she wiped her face again and fell silent for a moment. When she felt like she wasn't going to break down in to tears again, having decent control over her tone of voice and emotions she looked over at him. “Sorry,” she said quietly. “No crying,” she repeated more to herself, before glancing out the empty road. “I don't know,” her voice trailed off for a moment, for a mere second she had the urge to pour her heart out with her pathetic story about having no where to go. Sucking it up, she just shrugged and rubbed her face once more. “I don't know. You can drop me off wherever and I'll figure something out I guess.”
It wasn't really an I guess question, she'd have to figure something out or she wouldn't have anywhere to sleep tonight. Feeling more defeated than ever, she just leaned back in the chair and looked out the window, fighting back the urge to cry all over again.

my teeth and ambitions are bared! Following his request to Dani that crying was mostly banned in his car, she apologized and simply sniffled slightly before stopping entirely. It wasn’t that he didn’t like her, it was that he didn’t like her when she was crying. Aubrey had a hard enough time coming to reconciliation with his own complicated feelings that crying from other people often threw off his own judgment of himself and made him start all over again. He just wasn’t one of those people who could effectively handle two emotions at one time. He had been like that since childhood, actually. So really, it wasn’t just Dani who was effected by his ‘no extreme emotions’ policy, most everyone that was around him or had ever been around him knew that he was struggling and didn’t need the added baggage of other’s worries.
He was a self centered type of person.
A light once green automatically turned to red ahead of them and he slowly eased his prized car to a stop, the motor idling in the cold night air. Leaning forward on the steering wheel he stared out blankly at the surprisingly busy road ahead of him, counting the cars that passed through the intersection and keeping an eye on the other lights, making bets with himself silently as to when they’d change to red and his would change back to green. Frustrated with the seemingly long wait, he was forced to listen to Danielle struggle to push out words in reply to his question.
The way she answered, he wondered if she assumed he’d be taking her to his house?
Thinking to himself, he considered the pros and cons of the situation. On one hand, he’d have an entirely new mouth to feed, and he could barely get edible food into his own mouth on a daily basis, what would possibly make her living with him improve his life? Other than the small possibility that she could cook to an acceptable degree (check one for pro’s). Secondly, he’d have her around him all the time for sex (check two for con’s). On another hand, he’d have to deal with her parents in the event they decided they wanted her back and he wanted to keep her, like a dog (check one for con’s). At the end of his mental check list, he figured it’d just simply be better to let her stay at his house until she got her underage shit together.
It was the least he figured he could do after provoking her parents into kicking her out.
Finally, the light turned green and he switched lanes and headed back to his house wordlessly. After a while he looked over and noticed Dani had been staring at him with a rather confused expression on her face, he smirked at her and said, In light of your uninteresting situation, I figured since I did piss your dad off enough to threaten to kick you out, the least I could do for now is let you sleep on my couch. If you prove to be more useful than I originally expected you can stay, but until then you’re on trial, ok? As he finished speaking he pulled up into his driveway. Unlike the courtly gentleman he should be, he simply turned off the car and walked into his house, barely offering to help Danielle move in for the time being.
Wasn’t he just a keeper?

give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - Silence. There was always silence between them. There were a lot of people where she would just ramble on trying to fill the silence, but he just wasn't one of them. Aubrey had something about him where she figured that he wouldn't appreciate her babbling, so she kept herself limited to her crowded thoughts to avoid that completely. But this silence sat with an air of confusion, she didn't know where she was going to go, or where he was going to take her. Looking over at him for a moment, it just happened that he seemed to glance over at the same time. Then he smirked, which worried her a bit, because honestly nothing good had came from Aubrey smirking lately. The news that he brought she considered good, and she was relieved that he would let her stay on his couch. At least she could find a back up plan if that fell through. Now she had a roof over her head and somewhere (somewhat) safe to stay until she got her shit together.
“Alright,” she said, trying to sound as cheerful as possible. After all, he had just given her a place to stay, and she was grateful for it. “Sounds good.”
She could make herself useful, or at least she hoped so. In her mind there was a vague idea of what his definition of useful was. Something along the lines of sex, she'd assume, which had already happened a handful of times. She could cook a half decent meal, so that could help her out there. Sitting up straighter as they pulled in to the drive way, she unbuckled her seat belt and climbed out after him. She wasn't looking forward to getting the rest of her shit tomorrow, because she had no idea where she was going to put it. Making her way in to the house, she was pleased that it was warmer than the cool exterior, the temperature was beginning to drop now that they were growing nearer to winter.
Dropping her shit off out of the way by the couch, she turned around and looked over at Aubrey. Her hands resting in the pockets of her hoodie, she studied him for a moment before saying, “Thank you, by the way... for letting me stay. I really appreciate it.”
In the back of her mind she realized that she probably should have gotten her school things, considering in was Wednesday. The only thing she had brought with her was her Chemistry text book, because it had just been sitting on her bed and she had shoved it in with a whole bunch of other clutter. And she didn't have Chem until third block, maybe she'd just go for that. Sighing at the thought, she didn't even want to go now that she was so far behind. It wouldn't take that long for her to fall behind in everything else now too. Why hadn't she just been like most normal kids and said fuck education, taking the easier classes rather than the AP and Honours. Right now that seemed like a smarter idea than what she had decided to do at the beginning of the semester. In the back of her mind she made a note to change her time table for next semester, because there was no way she would be able to keep up with AP classes if she was going to live with him, considering just going out with him had caused her to fall behind, living with him would end up to be a complete different story.

my teeth and ambitions are bared! Aubrey was a marginally antisocial person who preferred to have his house empty (except for him being in it). The only time someone was in his house was when he’d paid them to be in there, whether it was a maid or a prostitute…or in this rare case, when he haphazardly invited Danielle to come live with him because her parents kicked him out. He had money, he could have just as easily given her enough for a few days’ stay in a hotel until her parents cooled down a little, but then that’d mean he wouldn’t have her at his disposal. And for Aubrey, having people and things at his beck and call to act as his servants in this life were very, very important to him.
Really, this wasn’t his fault, it’s just how he had been raised.
Or at least that’s what he used as an excuse when people confronted him on how he wielded his exuberant, cocky personality against them. Most people disliked him for how he acted, but Aubrey felt he’d been given a right to behave the way he did and no one could take that away from him…regardless of how many times they lectured him on how to act. No one had raised him to listen properly, and twenty-one years into the game, it was unlike he’d change now. It wasn’t like he was the only one anyway; Devin was a victim of circumstance as well. Needless to say, this was not how Aubrey imagined their date turning out.
In fact, he never planned on her coming to live with him…ever.
Still, it seemed he’d now have to accept the facts whether he liked it or not. Turning around and noticed that she’d already followed him into the house. Crossing his arms across his chest he studied her slightly, taking note of the stress that clouded her eyes. Running a hand through his hair he spoke with little emotion in his voice, Well. You know your way around the house, so no need for an introduction. I only have two bedrooms, as you know. You can clean out the guest room and I’ll buy you a bed or something since I won’t be sharing my bedroom. I only have one rule, no other boys or men in my house. Get it? Now go cook something. Her lifetime of indentured servitude had begun.

give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - She really shouldn't have ever gotten herself in this situation. The more she thought about it, the more she realized it was a train wreck speeding no where productive at a fast speed. Sighing to herself and shaking her head, she looked up at him as he crossed his arms for a moment. She just raised her eyebrows slightly as he spoke, not in surprise. But almost in an irritated I-don't-quite-care look. Nodding her head at his comment about no boys or men in his house, which was something she found quite obvious and had no intention on doing. "Got it. You don't have to buy me a bed, I can seriously sleep on the couch. It isn't a big deal."
She shrugged her shoulders slightly. It wasn't like she had been expecting him to share a bed, considering past experiences it actually had never crossed her mind. Although the thought was a nice one, it was highly unlikely. Taking in another deep, even breath, she met his gaze once more at his comment about wanting food. "What do you want me to make?" She asked. Most would probably ignore the request, but she figured if he wasn't making her pay to stay here that he was helping her out a lot by letting her in to his home, and it was a simple way to repay him. She just wasn't aware how deep she was getting herself in to everything.
Making her way in to the kitchen, she leaned against the counter and tried to think of what to make him. It wasn't all that late in the evening, rather it was early. Biting her lower lip slightly, she could just make him a sandwich. Simple and easy enough, the question now was if he had anything to make a sandwich with. It couldn't be that hard to find bread and things to throw on it. Opening up the fridge and leaning in slightly, she scanned through the contents trying to figure out what to make. Glancing up at Aubrey as he appeared in the kitchen, she asked, "Is a sandwich okay? If so, what do you want in it. And if not, what do you want me to make you instead?"
