![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y83/TontoRox/Cedarwood/zgbhxbf.jpg) florence pulled swiftly into the gravel parking lot of her new barn. she sent pebbles neatly arcing away from her tyres as she braked firmly and turned her engine off. she sat for a moment, contemplating in which order she was to organise the day, with only trio and ben to work she was not particularly pushed for time. she popped the white range rover's door open before stepping down, she was still getting used to the height of her car. after her sleek little BM she used to have at home this was entirely different, most noticeably the side on which she was now driving! she pulled her sunglasses up and let them rest atop her bouncing waves. she was dressed in neatly in denim kingsland breeches, a ralph lauren polo, kingsland socks and a pair of brown leather deck shoes. she wandered slowly into the barn, cell and keys in hand and looked out for her horses. she saw trio's grey head poking out of his stall first and she headed towards him, retrieving a polo from her pocket as she went. he whickered gently before accepting her gracious offering before leaving her for his haylage. she peered over ben's door, checking his stall for anything out of place or untoward. despite having had horses and ponies on a full livery agreement for the majority of her life, or having grooms when she had her horses at home, she still took her time to trust the new staff. she made it her job to be pleasant and polite them, to make them fond of her and to give them every reason to treat her horses with the best level of care possible. happy with what she found she made her way to the tack room to grab a set of tack for one of her boys. moving softly across the cobbled floor she entered the tack room and made straight for her locker. turning the key she opened the doors to their maximum and fished out all that she needed. she grabbed a set of tendons from the shelf in the door and a neatly folded equiport pad from one of the interior shelves. deciding on giving trio his first jump since arriving she unhooked the brown dy'on snaffle bridle from the hook along with a CWD breast plate and after hooking all that she'd had out onto her shoulder, she pulled her delgrange saddle off the hook and made again for he door. letting herself into the grey's large airy box she removed his navy fleece and quickly flicked the saddle patch off with her hand. she placed the pad on his back along with a non-slip pad and threw on the saddle before doing up the studgirth. thinking whilst she tacked up, she felt a pang of homesickness and lonlieness. she needed to socialise more now she was stuck here. she needed a friend to confide in, or even an enemy to purely keep her amused. she never knew how life was going o turn out for her thogh so she must control her emotions, she thought as she put the tendons on his front legs. ![](http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/3444/madison.png) • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • The day had started the same as usual, she prepared her coffee this morning to eat with her granola and yogurt instead of stopping at starbucks. She wasn’t in the mood for anything sweet that morning, a simple black dark roast blend. She left half of it on the counter as she headed out the door, it wasn’t too hot out today, the breeze was nice. Heck maybe she would get both horses worked before she had to break for lunch. She slid into the pick-ups smooth leather interior, her tall boots were in her back seat as she had actually decided to ride in jods today, she hadn’t been in the mood to break in her new tall boots today but her old ones were comfy and still looked great. Her jods were her favourite pair of schoolers, last season’s tailored sportsman, they were sort of love when it came to jods. She pushed her hair over her shoulders and turned the truck on, she rolled into the barn listening to Miranda Lambert, another personal favourite. Her day was simple, like most others she had planned, to the barn, work both horses, book lessons for both horses and then head home, put on her shorts go for a run, shower then work on her tan. Her life wasn’t very complicated; her evenings were filled with movies, phone calls the clubs and fancy dinners – rarely was she bored even though she didn’t know many people in town. The aisle way was pretty empty when she peeked down, there was one other girl who seemed to be tending to a big grey. She hit the tack room, her jumper stuff was closest so Jam would have to go first no matter how grumpy he was going to be. She packed a bridal over her shoulder, a saddle and pads in her arms and the rest of what she needed would be in the horses box in front of his stall. She was silent at first, only paying attention to her horse as she opened the stall door. She spoke to the horse who was spun around hiding in the corner in a playfully stern voice.
" Hey grumpy pants, I can still see you so come on and let’s get going. "
The huge chestnut spun himself around, auds perked and eyes bright it surprised and slightly concerned Madison though she wasn’t complaining. Slipping his leather name plated halter over his large but suiting warmblood head she smirked, if the horse was even a little willing she would take every little bit of it. She led him out into the alleyway, the other horse was far up enough that they wouldn’t have any problems though even tied to his stall at such a distance the horse was distracted and squirming. She slapped him on the shoulder as she walked past to get his boots, and the horse took the direction well. Suddenly still he took to his normal habits and chewed on the end of his frayed barn lead silently. Madison looked over to the other girl, her horse had a saddle on and she was just adding boots. Hurrying her pace Madi booted the horse up in seconds, slipped off his flysheet and ran a soft brush over his clean coat. She started with a square pad and added a sheepskin half pad before slipping on her pessoa jumper saddle, it was her new one only ridden in a few times she wanted to break it in a bit more for the next show. Jam had pulled up his socks at the last show, pulled off a second and a sixth which for the often difficult beast. She peeked over to the other girl with the grey, letting her voice slip out
" Hey you headed to the jumper ring? If you want company I will be done in just a few minutes. "
She continued to tack the horse up by adding a breastcollar with only the running martingale attachment, it clipped to the belly guard girth then the d-rings on the saddle. All that was left was the bridal, she wanted to slip into her boots and find her spurs and crop before she untied the chestnut beast who was now licking the stall bars. Oh how she was quite often slightly embarrassed to own the slightly awkward but overly talented beast, rummaging through her tack trunk she really hoped the other girl didn’t mind waiting though then again perhaps she wasn’t the kind who enjoyed company. Coming from a privileged background madi wasn’t used to being alone or really being told no, it wasn’t that she struggled with it or threw fits more along the lines of being used to having people wait for her when she wanted and introducing themselves. Realizing she had left her name out she corrected herself as she added her spurs to her tall boots.
" Oh please excuse my manners, I’m Madison nice to meet you. "
Her tone was sweet, Madison was used to the whole introduction, the whole meeting new people and the whole potential for awkward silence thing. She was far too used to the whole being under strict manners rule that sometimes if felt good to forget them, while others she couldn’t help herself. Finishing with the spur straps she grabbed the jumper whip and stuck it in her tall boots, grabbing the bridal she eyed the gelding harshly before undoing his leadrope then pulling off his halter. Slipping the snaffle into his mouth he only managed to get the flash in his mouth this time. Pulling it from his lips she went to work on the straps almost ready to go if this girl and her stunning grey were still waiting.

![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y83/TontoRox/hbhbhbhbhbhb.jpg) it had been a while since florence had felt truly homesick and the thought of her friends dancing in her mind pushed a tear to the corner of her eyes. hopefully if ellen came over to jump at palm beach or another big show she could see her, and she could always go and visit, there was nothing really stopping her. i mean louise went to holland with her audi sponsorship and they all managed, she'd just ave to deal with it! she couldn't wait to get out onto the circuit over here, to make new friends and let the fun begin. her ketterer truck was set to arrive in a few days and with all it's extra features, the pop outs, the barbecue, and the outside music system she was ready once again to turn her wagon into something resembling a party bus. she could still remember turning up to san patrigano last year and having everyone waiting for her to park herself in the centre of their allocated space. her father had made great friends with the rest of the young rider team parents and so team GBR were always having the time of their lives when away, though she had found herself regretting her drinking the next morning when it came to jumping her classes.
she slipped the last worn tendon down the gelding's leg before strapping it up and standing back. it was then she heard the other girl enter the barn and introduce herself. she continued to busy herself trying to find a comb in the large trunk outside the horse's stable. she was normally known for being slightly too tidy at times but due to not having a chance to sort her kit out since she had arrived it did certaily not seem to be the case at this time. eventually found she quickly began to flick through the horses thick mane and tail. he'd obviously been done off already today as despite having been in all night there was not a stain on the usually filthy white grey.
hi, i'm florence. she called back to the girl, pleased to interact with someone other than her father or the stablehands since she'd arrived a few days earlier.yeah, i'm just about to head down to the ring in a second, of course i don't mind company. infact it would be gratefully accepted she laughed quietly to herself.
pulling her deck shoes off her feet she placed them inside the trunk before rooting through the mess to find her parlanti boots. she always prided herself on being well turned out and this included wearing boots people usually saved for being at shows for on the yard. she had quite the system going with the majority of her things, buy a brand new expensive item to use at a show and then demote the last item for use at home. she'd paid £650 for this pair of parlantis with the union jack on them but as they'd started to look tattier she threw out her old de niros and began to use these on the yard. she even used the same methodical way when it came to her horses tack and by the looks of it she'd need to get a new set of tendons soon before these lost all forms of protection to her horses legs.
she closed the lid on her trunk, making sure she'd left her keys inside the pouch on the inner side of the lid, and locked it firm. she placed her white iphone in her back pocket and reached up to the stable door and unhooked her bridle. siding the reins off the throatlash she slipped them over her horses head and placed them ontop of his withers. she pulled apart her rubber bit guards and sat them on either side of the horses jaw before feeding the loose ring snaffle into his mouth. he mouthed on it softly, accustoming himself to the cold metal before settling and lowering his head once more as she reached and pulled his ears through under the leather. she buckled the noseband up tightly before clipping the throatlash up and letting the crossties hang down to the floor. she pulled his forelock through and trusted him to stand whilst she neatly tidied the crossties up and placed her leather headcollar upon it's hook once more. ... • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Madison smirked at the gelding, he was standing almost quietly like he was still tired from his last workout. She figured he rightfully should be, she had worked him on the ground in the pessoa training system. It was a hard workout on the horse but he liked a change in workout and environment it kept him on his toes so she figured ride today lesson tomorrow then perhaps a day off after that. It was unfortunate that unlike her mare, Jam couldn’t go a few days on break and be right where she left him. It wasn’t that big of a deal, Madison was ready to step up into the grand prix ring with both her horses pretty soon and she really needed the work, she was considering offering herself up to ride other horses on the yard, she had heard rummor that the hunter/jumper coach she would be meeting tomorrow was pregnant, hell she had to have horses perhaps they needed to be worked or something. If that didn’t take off she would petition her parents to purchase her another horse, getting it to texas without them knowing why would certainly be a work of art on her part, but she didn’t doubt herself at all. Anyways, the gelding before her was now ready, it seemed the other gal and her grey were ready to go. Florence, she seemed nice enough, waiting and all – looking forward to company, it was nice to meet someone who like herself enjoyed riding with others. Madi while still smiling spoke once more,
"Sounds great, were ready to head out when you guys are. "
Madison took a few steps forward with her horse then slowed letting Florence lead the way respectively, she opted to leave her helmet behind she wasn’t much in the mood to wear one she was actually considering just flatting and saving the big jumps for their lesson tomorrow – would give the gelding something to look forward too. Long naturally wavy locks were draped over her shoulders, with the reins looped over the kink of her elbow she paused. Putting her hair in a high pony tail she used the elastic that was around her wrist to secure it, pulling it tight she winced slightly. Her bangs were left out and her arms returned to her side, the right one holding the reins actually. Looking forward to Florence she decided to make conversation while on route, she figured it would make things easier maybe make the walk to the arena pass a little quicker. Pondering for a moment she thought back to what her parents had taught her, conversations with high class collegues, lunch functions and dinner parties. In public the young adult was very well portrayed, she was keen on keeping her party tendency away from the tabloids and decided to do as her parents would have her this very moment. Strike up a simple conversation asking the guest about themselves while sounding as interested as you possibly could.
"So how long have you been at crossfire? I haven’t seen you around before, mind you I haven’t been here long myself. "
She was truely interested in the other girl, she seemed similar in age to Madison and a very attractive sweet girl. She was well dressed, her tack all clean and new looking and even from a slight distance Madison could spot brands and names she recognized herself, perhaps she wasn’t the only one who basically purchased a new saddle each season or so. It brought her comfort that her and Florence might be able to relate, that they might have a few things in common they could converse over while riding. Perhaps the girl was independently wealthy – it was hard but not impossible to be so well off by 20. Maybe she had won the lottery or something, Madison was hoping time would tell. She really wanted to make friends, this place would be so much more fun with someone to laugh with, someone to party with and someone who you could call anytime and just hang out. She missed her friends, and she missed her home hell sometimes she even missed her folks a little, but she wasn’t letting it get to her. Her truck and trailer were here, the horses and competition were fierce and she felt right being here. Lonely still but certainly right, she knew time would make friends and she certainly couldn’t wait because staying in her custom living quarters horse trailer wasn’t nearly as much fun alone as it had been with all her friends at the horse shows. Another gift from mom and dad, so the girl was a little spoiled but she really couldn’t help herself some days. There were two empty stalls in that trailer when she took it to horseshows, perhaps she needed to work on filling those along with filling the beds.

![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y83/TontoRox/greyyyy.jpg) florence sat on her trunk waiting for the other girl to finish preparing her horse. she didn't mind taking her time at the moment. due to still being new she'd not really anything better to do than spend her time at the barn. she'd risen earlier than usual this morning at half past seven and had slowly started her day. she began with a swim in the pool in her yard, it was something she could get used to she was sure, swimming outside in the morning. she'd had a pool back home but it had been inside with a glass side that they could slide back on the hottest days of uk weather. she'd finished her swim and showered quickly, blow drying her her so as to leave it wavy. she'd heard her father up and about so she made him breakfast and left it on the side for when he surfaced downstairs in a few minutes time. she'd slid out of the house and grabbed a cup of coffee on the way to the barn. and that was to be where she spent the entirety of her day at this rate. and with only two horses here the last thing she was was pushed for time. she knotted her hair tightly to the back of her head, letting her ponytail hang neatly down her back.
noting that madison was ready to leave, florence picked up trio's reins and gave him a slight feel down the leather, half to wake him up a little. sometimes the horse was a little too laid back and he found it all too easy to fall asleep in most situations, the worst being when waiting for their jump off round. florence always had to make sure her groom or herself were keeping him on the move. that said she couldn't exactly mark it as a fault when the horse still performed well and woke up when being ridden. infact she supposed she'd much rather one of her grand prix horses was more this way inclined. with berlinde she seemed to spend half her life trying to keep the mare calm, when on the ground or being ridden. the mare had more talent than she'd ever sat on but controlling it was not for the faint hearted. when on the floor despite being loving and quiet the majority of the time, she took a while to settle into a new environment, not the best quality for a grand prix jumper having to travel a lot. when ridden florence often felt more like a rodeo rider. she'd had the horse fully vet checked to ruke out pain and the simple conclusion was purely that she was nappy and would never be good out on the trails, in company or without. and she simply just enjoyed expressing herself through the endless bucking.
watching the girl slow to offer her the lead she passed and lead the way down the track toward the outdoor jumping ring. remembering her manners from all of the etiquette training she seemed to have recieved throughout her life she replied quickly, there were no need for awkward pauses.
only a few days, this is my third day here. i moved from england if you couldn't tell from the accent!
she laughed, it was something that she was going to get used to she supposed. she'd had so many people remark on it already she'd decided to begin to point it out first. despite being able to stay polite in most situations, florence wasn't one for continually repeating herself and whilst happy to talk about her life in england she just wasn't that fond on the simple remarks on her accent. it didn't take a rocket scientist to work it out and she obviously already knew where she came from.
how long have you been here then? it's good to know i'm not the only person not from around this location.
she smiled softly, truely interested in what the other girl had to say. it would be good to have a new friend over here. she eyed madison up slightly, she'd not really looked before. she looked for the brands she recognised. satisfied the girl obviously knew what she was doing when it came to the horse world she'd wait patiently for how she rode. if there was one thing florence wasn't a big fan of it was being the only person around who could actually ride. when she'd kept her horse at a local barn at home, she'd lasted barely a month before she'd had to move her horses to keith doyle's yard. having children running around her quality horses was something she despised. she knew madison was not to be compared to a know nothing however and judging by appearance as she did so often she was pretty sure she was to hit it off with the girl.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • She walked most patiently with Jam in tow, the huge gelding was quite dopey today and Madi was loving it. he was however not above his usual antics, he used his upper lip to play with her shirt sleeve, tugging on it he was careful not to use teeth he knew much better than to bite Madison – the small one was a stickler when it came to biting. She pushed his nose away silently with her finger, hoping she wouldn’t have to remind him much more. That of course was not the case, he went for her long wavy locks next. She just rolled her eyes and put up with it, when she failed to give him attention the horse moved on to trying to get a rein in his mouth and left Madison alone. She smirked he really couldn’t help himself, this horse was going to be mentally two forever though realistically she didn’t care as long as he preformed like the pro he had been lately she wouldn’t change a thing. She heard Florence’s mannered tone and smirked, of course she had noted the accent though she had been taught better than to assume. Oh wow only three days away from home, this one was fresh off the boat and had probably already met more people than Madison had in the past two weeks. She enjoyed the fact that Florence had the ability to laugh at herself and in essence her culture, it was a trait Madison admired in other people. Sense of humour was important, something she noticed that some of her father’s close friends and co-workers laughed. She learned to stay away from too much humour in the usually intellectual conversations, unless of course it was a science joke or government related joke that, was of course expected. The girls accented words hit the air again, this time she had posed a question of her own, one that Madison didn’t have to think about answering though she took a moment to let the air settle before speaking just as she had been taught.
"Not quite two weeks yet, I have run into a few other people not from around here as well. Apparently the circuit and training here is attracting people from all over. "
The indoor arena wasn’t a far walk, besides the two girls and their horses it was empty. Beside Madison Jam had managed to keep himself relaxed the whole way down the aisle way, perhaps he was really settling in now and the change in environment would be something to add to keeping him happy. She wasn’t complaining, no matter what it was she was excited to ride the horse today and that wasn’t a consistent thing with the giant chestnut. She looked over to Florence, her horse seemed pretty nice. Looking at the mare from the side changed things a little; she was nicely built, made to take a fence a big one or two actually. The tack she wore was in the same shape Madison kept hers looking, pretty brand new. The mare and rider were both well dressed and turned out, thus far the other riders here had been great too though Madison had posed it as just a coincidence. The barn was nice, she was only just starting to clue into the quality of horse and rider around her. That made her placing at the recent show seem that much bigger, she worked hard for it. She always had and she was used to being the champion back home, she always wondered how much who she knew had to do with that one. Now out on her own, without a real trainer she had managed to pull off a win on Gia and a second on Jam, along with some other placing Madison was pretty convinced coming here, despite the lies and work it took had been more than worth it. She moved Jam to the center, pulled down her stirrups and checked his girth. She looked around at the fences which varied in height from about 2ft6 up to well high enough for Madison and Jam that day. Flipping his reins over his head and through the martingale rings she looked over to Florence before she sprung herself up, speaking politely as always taught. "Hey these jumps are fine for me, if you want to move anything go ahead and if you need a hand just let me know."
Without wasting time she gracefully popped onto the horses back, it was something she had mastered in her time with the giant horse. Letting her legs dangle for a second she made the horse wait, careful not to poke him with her spurs as she found her stirrups she gathered her reins softly. Looking over to Florence she smiled, if the girl wanted to move things Madi would love to help her as soon as Jam was warmed up a little. The horse didn’t do well with standing around if he hadn’t done anything. She would make it his break before jumping if she was going to get off, until then he would require most of her attention. She noted to herself to stay out of the other pairs way, with Jam knowing oh to well how to be a snot Madi didn’t want to risk anyone elses well being. She would however be able to tell how the horse was going to behave after his first track around at the trot. Not wanting to put it off any longer she applied a small amount of pressure in her calves and kept a soft feel on the horse’s mouth. Responding instantly Jam struck off at a smooth ground covering pace, not hurried or backed off he worked forward into Madi’s hands though didn’t brace on her feel at all. He had decided to be good today, well to flat at least. She let the horse stretch down he dropped his head to stretch his back then was content to carry himself in a low frame while Madison merely worked on herself for a little, steering with her legs she stayed a few feet off the rail, slack in the reins indicated the horse was relaxed and she was trusting him. She looked over to Florence smiling, her tone hit the air once more.
"Don’t know if you want the rail or not, I’m not too picky about where we ride and I’m pretty good at staying out of the way."

![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y83/TontoRox/fddddddddddd.jpg) the gelding's slow pace ambled along the aisle of the barn, florence slowed also, knowing it would be a needless task to try and keep him walking at what she saw an adequate speed. she smiled at the sight of him, auds pricked, eyes bright and ready to do his job, whatever his rider so wished. she let go of her reins, trusting him to stay near as she walked by his side. she hoped she wasn't holding madison up to much with their rather slow speed. she wouldn't usually allow this blatent disregard of her horse's manners but she guessed he was still feeling the long flight from the uk. it would of been only his second time flying, the first when he'd been brought from holland to england for her. she'd been to try him and ben at the same time, she'd tried a few others and brought home another gelding named diablo but she'd decided it wise to leave him behind. her friend jodie was competing him and hopefully she was to do just as well on him as she had herself. she'd also left her two grand prix horses in germany where she'd been on a months training at a most grand facility. she's had a wonderful time with her friends louise and jessie and it would have been lovely to stay longer. however she knew she needed to be with her father, so with her father she was.
she ran her fingers through the gelding's mane. it was soft to the touch and each thread of hair was parted and separate. just as she liked to keep herself clean and well manicured, hair cut nicely, nails all gel and short. her outfits were always at the height of fashion, and on the yard with the help of a most fashionable sponsor, kingsland, she was able to carry on her appearance. but just as she liked herself to look fabulous at all times it was something she always required from her horses also. clipped all year round their coats gleamed, half from always being well groomed and the other half purely because they were healthy, fit and well fed. all white patches on any horses or the whole of trio were to be spotless for as much of time as possible. luckily she'd always had grooms or stablehands to aid in her somewhat neurotic obcsession but it was always a need in he eyes to be turned out well. as she entered the ring the horse grew immediatley. he no longer seemed his mere 15.3 he seemed more 16.2 at least. this was what she loved about the horse, his need and his passion for his work. she pulled her stirrups down and gave her tack a quick check. she made sure she was clear of madison's horse before mounting quickly and swiftly, landing softly on the horses's back she fished around for her other cheesegrater stirrup, miding she didn't poke the gelding with her rounded spur.
ah that's good to know! i thought i was going to be the only newbie around here! she glanced around the arena marking the fences out. it seemed a siple enough lay out, the figure eight base with a few others to play with. she was sure she could string out a track or two with it. looking at the height the seemed okay, ranging from around 80cm to 1.10m. she might need them up later but for now they seemed to be okay. i think they'll be fine for me too actually. and dont worry about the rail, i dont tend to stick to it. i like my circling everywhere.
she smiled thinking how kind it was for the other girl to offer to help her move fences. hopefully she was well on the way to making her first friend over here. her father would be pleased. she tightened her calves around the gelding and he sprang forward, stepping underneath himself even in the walk and carrying her forward. she slid her phone out of her back pocket, hoping for a text from anyone. dissapointed she placed it back took up the rein. she pushed him forward once more, unhappy with his pace. after walking a few laps to limber him up she pushed him up into a trot, letting him work through and over his back. he was soft in the mouth, only in a snaffle so keeping her hands soft and light he accepted the contact and rounded his neck, the bounce in his stride pushing her neatly out of the saddle. her leg kept in place like a rock, not moving at all as she posted, rising and falling softly to the saddle. pushing him forward into a canter she rose in her stirrups and let the horse move through underneath her, she wanted more step from him before she put him at a fence. she avoided madison when need be but the two girls seemed to be harmonising together in the arena and rarely seemed to meet points, always passing with plenty to spare.
so where are you living at the moment? with parents, friends?
she questioned, she'd always been taught it polite to question people on themselves, making them feel important, sometimes her love for attention made her forget herself, she'd talk for hours about herself without really drawing attention to the other person. she switched leads comfortably over the centre of the school before turning across the diagonal to a small crosspole standing at around 2' in height. she got a good shot and the horse basculed neatly. in her ever british way of jumping she gave slightly her hands but barely folded, allowing the horse up rather than flattening herself down, she didnt want to make any difference to the horse's front end action. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • The gelding was moving out freely as Madison focused only on her post and finding his rhythm, she of course paid attention to the other rider and horse who seemed to be moving out nicely as well now. She found the horses stride long and cadenced, though with impulsion making it easy to post to and the horse fun to send on. She reversed after a few passes to the left, letting the horse keep his head she held them at the buckle in one hand. Only when the horse was being a star did he get the privilege of Madison’s full trust. Today he was behaving himself wonderfully, he had stretched out fully and there was no tension in him at all – his mouth was foaming and he had snorted three times. Upon relaxing totally to the second direction madison sat into the horses back, she tightened her calf and back muscles, and added a bit of pressure to the reins. Reluctantly at first the gelding slowed to a ground eating walk, the four beats were distinct and hurried. Madi was happy to see the horse willing to move forward and didn’t collect him up too quickly, she was careful to keep her leg solid on his sides before she collected the reins and sat into him again. Rocking him back onto his haunches was easy, he became soft and light almost instant. Chewing at the snaffle for a moment his mouth was quiet again once he became comfortable with his own stride. At this time the horses walk became normal and more relaxed, his step was quick or tense he was relaxed and confident in where his feet were going. Neck arched he fell into a natural frame, all the power coming from the back end Madison had worked hard to achieve a proper outline with the horse he was very talented at forgetting his hind end. Madison caught the sound of Florences voice with ease, she wasn’t totally distracted yet she had a few more sets to do before she started over fences, that was when she really found herself totally focused and hard to speak too.
"I was worried about the same at first too. We ride alike then, I refuse to ride glued to the thing."
It was the truth. Madison had been nervous about being the only new girl here, she had been new before and never much liked it, though it wasn’t something she usually had control of. Her tone had been light, she was being polite though enjoying herself at the same time, Florence was turning out to be nice company. She rode similar to Madi in the sense that the rail meant nothing, and circles were a large part of her workout. Madison always started on a simple track though once her horse was warmed up and ready to start more collected work she rode circles, serpentines, quarter lines, centerlines and diagonals. She was a fan of always changing for the horses, keeping it fresh and exciting and using all of their muscles evenly. The gelding was now attentive to her, she asked him to pick up the trot again. He was responsive almost instantly, madison sat deeply as she could in the jumper saddle collecting him back to elevate his shoulders even more before she let herself post out again. The gelding resisted a little at first and pushed on the bit ever so slightly. In response Madison took a steady feel, though was careful not to lock her elbows, sat deeper into her pockets and pushed with her seat and legs. The gelding got the message loud and clear and softened once more pushing forward into the self carriage he knew was expected. Madi chuckled, this horse always had to do things the hard way not like his better behaved half Gia. Madison liked having the two horses totally different, one was easy and reliable, well not totally easy but very very consistent in her behaviour and moods. Then there was Jam, who was ironically the gelding. He seemed to have mood swings like a lady going through menopause or something! Latley he had been on his toes, and he really wasn’t horrid like he used to be anymore, but at the drop of the hat this horses world could change or end if he decided. Currently the horse was trotting according to madison’s wishes, they circled 20 meters then headed down the centerline. Madison was careful to stay out of Florences way as they moved down the center of the arena. She felt the gelding try to drift left, a strong leg and gentle hand straightened him out and Madison decided to change directions. Switching her diagonal in the corner she looked up and sat coming out of the corner, she pushed him into an extended trot. The gelding seemed to float; he was very elastic today in the sense that he was being very adjustable in his stride length and body bending. Pleased with his trot she halted him in the corner, it seemed as soon as they stopped Florence spoke out, Madison was attentive and made the horse stand square and in the bridle; it was good for him and his brain. The question was simple enough, until the words parents came into play. Madison was pretty certain she was going to slip up soon, she didn’t doubt it was almost time to tell her parents. She always just promised herself another week or two of freedom. She looked to Florence smiling, the girl wasn’t prying just being polite of course.
"Oh, I’ve got my own apartment in town. What about yourself?"
She didn’t mention anything about her parents at all, she had already let it slip to one person. Deciding to take her mind off it and try to do two things at once she sat up in warning to Jam before adding outside leg and sitting deep, her kiss was almost non-existent and the horse was off. His gait was slightly strung out to start, though it only took Madison three or four strides to collect him up again, once more proving himself on his best behaviour the horse complied. With just one prod of her spurs he had picked his back up again and was now working from his behind, shoulders elevated and his whole gait was now climbing uphill once again. She looked over to Florence just in time to see her and her horse pop over a small fence, her style was a little different from Madison’s though the end result was pretty much the same. With the exception that Jam wouldn’t put that much effort over such a small fence, the 17hh+ gelding was used to fences almost twice that size as part of his jumping routine. Madison smirked and mapped out her route as she rode a three loop serpentine with flying changes smoothly placed at each point of switch of bend respectively, the huge gelding loved flying lead changes and it showed in his enthusiastic leaps.
