She was flustered as she drove down the road, they had kept her late even though she had said she needed to leave early. Her knee was in a state of pain, not bad but not comfortable either. She shook her head and slammed on the brakes as some idiot pulled out in front of her, she however soon passed him making sure to flip him the bird. Arriving home Gabby hurried inside instantly greeted by her two puppies. She had to smile and laugh at the dogs attics they made everything so much better. She bent down and scratched each behind the ear and then stood alright girls outside so I can get ready. She opened the back door and let them out into the fenced in backyard. She took the stairs two at a time, having to stop and rub her knee when she got to the top, seeing she forgot for a moment that it was still injured. Gabby walked into her bedroom and pulled her hair out of the pony tail. She grabbed the bottle and shook one into her hand and took it before turning the water on and getting in the shower.
Once out she walked to her closet and put on something comfortable yet cute, she let her hair down and looked at herself in the mirror and decided to leave her hair down, letting the natural wave come through as she dried it. When she was done she pulled it over her left shoulder and placed a clip in it to hold it in place. She applied her makeup and walked down the stairs, going to the back door, she opened it and let them in. Each getting a treat she sighed and went about cleaning up the kitchen a bit. Gabby had some dishes that needed to be put away but other than that the house was in perfect order. It wasn’t that she was clean freak, she just had to have it a certain way. She pursed her lips together for a brief moment and then looked down at her dogs. They were contently staring at her, tails wagging behind them, both unique in their own ways.
Being one of the more uncommon dogs around, Gigi was a Mountain Cur and Zia was a Fila Brasileiro. Gabby shook her head, no more treats girls now go lay down. They whined yet trotted off to their beds and laid down. She sighed and finished tiding up when she heard a knock at her door, the dogs were instantly up and the low woof of Zia was given. Hush you two. She spoke pointing to their beds to get them away from the door. Going and sitting on their beds they waited, Gabby opened the door a smile spreading across her lips, hey come in she spoke and stepped aside allowing him to come in and then she shut the door behind her and went to the closet slipping her boots on and grabbing her coat but setting it aside. So how was your day. She asked softly going off to the kitchen as Gigi and Zia came out to check him out, oh those two won’t hurt you, the brindled blockier one is Zia the smaller non blocky one is Gigi. She spoke sitting on the counter and waiting.

James’ alarm clock beeped, and he reached out a sleepy hand, smacking at it until he succeeded in hitting the snooze button. Before he had become an intern, he would have just slept straight through it, but now that it could mean him missing an important shift, or if his pager went off while he was asleep, he was almost immediately alert as soon as he heard any sort of beeping through his sleep. Rolling out of bed, he headed straight to the shower, he hadn’t had the chance to have one since he had gotten home from work in the early hours of that morning, after working a fourteen hour shift since they were shorthanded the day before, so he had barely gotten any sleep during the shift either.
He had even forgone exercising his horses that day, there was no way he could have been riding at Crossfire at two am, he was fairly certain Carlee would probably shoot him first and ask questions later, and there was no way he could survive getting up after a few hours of shuteye, going to the barn, riding all of his mounts, coming home, sleeping more before getting ready to go out with Gabby. Their last meeting hadn’t gone so well, what with her accident and all during their jump off, hopefully this one would work out better.
Fifteen minutes later and he was showered, dressed, and heading out to his four wheel drive, punching the address she had given him for her house into his GPS before starting the engine, he had terrible sense of direction, plus he didn’t know his way around Addison completely yet, and had no idea where her street was. It wasn’t too far before the cheerful female voice on the system told him ‘You have arrived at your destination’, checking the house number before he pulled up on the kerb, killing the engine.
Locking the doors behind him, he headed up to the front door, knocking, not to harshly, before waiting patiently for her to answer. He didn’t have to wait long at all before Gabby opened the door, where he returned her smile. “Hey,” he answered, stepping inside when she invited him in, eyes taking a quick glance around the room, spotting the dogs sitting impatiently on their beds before his gaze returned to Gabby.
The two animals blocked his way as he went to follow her into her kitchen, sniffing at his legs, so he extended a fist to them to sniff, before giving each of them a good scratch on the neck, before stepping around them to finally follow her in. “Slept through most of it, I had a really long shift yesterday, I didn’t get home until two this morning,” James answered, chuckling lightly.
“They’re nice dogs,” he commented. He’d been thinking of getting one himself, but with his horses, and work, he wasn’t sure if it was exactly fair of him to get one.

Gabby smiled and then laughed softly looking at the clock, I got home a half an hour a go extremely busy day. She spoke, indeed it had been a busy day with the number of patients that seemed to pour in about lunch time in which she never got to finish and she really hadn’t noticed till now. Oh well what could she really do about it, when they came to her and said lets go she went no questions or complaining. She looked down at her two dogs who were contently staring at him, waiting. Go lay down you two. She spoke the dogs looked at her but went off and laid down on their beds. They are very nice dogs, personally I don’t know how I would get through a day if I didn’t have them to come home too. She shrugged and looked at him, swinging her legs as she thought about her day again for the up most time, what else did she have to do at any moment they could call her back to work, her luck she would just lay down and the would page her.
So what is the plan for tonight she asked softly, Gabby did really like him in fact she was hoping this would count as a date and for that matter be much better than the day they had met. Hopping off the counter she put her coat on and grabbed her clutch. She walked over to him and stood in front of him looking up at him. Gabby was quite close to him in fact all she would have to do is take one more step and she could wrap her arms around his neck and rest her head on her chest. She was holding back from doing that, despite wanting to and she really just wanted to. She shook her head and smiled at him before taking that finally step and leaning up to kiss him on the cheek, she stepped back and looked down shyly, we should go she spoke. She had to make it back at a decent time seeing she had to be up early to make her shift. She sighed still looking down waiting. Notes: weee this sucks Outfit: here

“I guess that’s what happens in a hospital. People never cease to get sick. We’d be out of jobs if they did,” I replied, letting out a chuckle.
It got frustrating sometimes, how much time working at the hospital actually took out of my life outside work, but I loved it, so I never complained. It did mean I didn’t have as much time to spend with my horses, or with my sister, but I had to do what I had to do, if I didn’t work, I wouldn’t be able to afford to keep up with my eventing, and then I would be stuck without either of my loves in life.
I nodded. “I understand. It’s the same with my horses, I guess, except for the fact they live in the barn. I doubt keeping them in my apartment would be the best idea in the world,” I joked, grinning at Gabby.
“So what is the plan for tonight?” she asked, and I ran over what I had thought about doing in my mind quickly. “Do you like Italian? Because, if you do, I was thinking that we could head over to Gianna and Giovanni’s? They have some seriously good pasta there,” I queried. I had picked the Italian restaurant, mainly, because it was sort of in the middle of the other two, not as casual as Oasis, but not as stuffy as Providence...quite frankly, I didn’t do stuffy, and staring at their menu and trying to figure out what half the stuff was made my head hurt, not to mention my bank account. At least you got a decent sized meal at Giovanni’s as well, not the tiny morsel most upper class restaurants served.
I watched her walk over, stopping in front me, awfully close now. Now, I definitely was not the shy sort of guy, but I wasn’t really sure what to expect in that moment. She reached up and planted a kiss on my cheek, which surprised me a little, I had to admit, usually that happened after dinner. Not that I was complaining, of course.
“Yeah, we should. I’m starved.”
