i think the spotlight always gives you stage fright †WISH THIS ALL WOULD END RIGHT†

Jamie had definitely learned throughout life to be rejected in some sort of fashion. Whether that rejection be someone outright telling her they didn't want her, being an ass or just ignoring her. Not that Jayden was rejecting her, she felt like that but she didn't know if he was or not. Jamie's whole outlook on the dating scene had been shot down when she was with the last eight guys that had managed to work their way into her life. Each one took her so far and suddenly, they didn't want her anymore. Most famously had been one of her opponents who now was competing in Europe, making it big while she sat here in America barely making her damned rent every month.
Since that breakup she hadn't been able to really get back onto her feet both financially and mentally. The two had gone so far as to move in with each other, kind of combine their money even though they both kept a separate bank account for paychecks and such. When that came crashing down two years later, she had nearly broken down and quit riding. The only thing that really kept her going in the Equestrian world had been the money that she was being given to train. Without said money she wouldn't have been able to keep her place here, would have had to move back home and would have never been in the current situation she was now. But no, she had to get back up on that damned Warmbloods back and start training him again.
This time, though, Jamie was feeling like hell and didn't really want to stop when she felt Jayden's hand on her shoulder. She would have kept those little legs of hers moving had he not been so damned strong. Her eyes lifted to just barely look at him, Jamie automatically brushing the tears away. "First off, I'll turn my back on someone if I wish to," she said that with almost no emotion what-so-ever. Jamie didn't need another argument, but if she wanted to turn her back on the person she was arguing with, well then damnit she would. "Second off, stop stepping away from me damn you." Jamie preferred to be closer to people so that she wouldn't have to talk so loud and mainly for the other person to hear her. Not to mention, Jayden was standing about an arm and a half's reach away from her which she definitely didn't like.
That idea came from when she was a kid growing up, her mother had always taught her to stay close to people. Her dad had been a huggy person so she was always close to him and now it was stuck with her for the rest of her life. When someone stood back from Jamie she instinctively moved forward to be closer to them. That creeped some people out but oh well, they'd get over it. This time she took a whole two steps closer to him, now being the right distance from him. She wasn't up against him or invading that little box of personal space they taught you about in grade school. Jamie could reach up to touch him if she wished to, which she didn't, and she could also talk to him without nearly screaming at him.
"All that cold black lump in your chest needs is some manners. I don't give a damned if you're a former soldier, if you were trained to be heartless, to not care who you killed or what you said that could possibly destroy someone inside. Telling me that I'm taking pity on you is quite selfish, actually, because I wasn't. Maybe sub-consciously I was but not outright walking slower just to suit you. That's another thing, don't assume people are going to take pity on you. Had you not noticed, we are both Dressage riders and at the highest level people tend to become even more bitchier than they are right now. They aren't going to look at you and think 'Oh poor him', no they're going to think they have an advantage over you and hope you do get hurt." She had to stop herself because she had no idea where in the hell she was going with her little speech. Jamie needed to shut up anyway because she'd wind up saying something that would piss him off and they woudl have to repeat the argument. "I completely lost my train of thought. I'm so stupid sometimes." She slid her fingers through her dark brown, almost black hair with a shake of her head. Now she was frustrated with herself, not knowing where in the world she was going with her speech. Oh well, she'd remember eventually.

head strong ill take on anyone. The harder he tried, the more it backfired in his face. The more effort he put in, the less reward he got out; this was all so opposite of horse riding. He was beginning to get the lesson that less was indeed more in this situation. This is why he had even stopped asking people on dates, with the exception of Jamie here. Clearly that was a bad idea as well, as the seconds ticked by, he was getting more and more frustrated that she somehow expected him to behave like a normal person without years of proper immersion in correct civilization. Maybe she thought she could do it, but as far as he was concerned, he would have no part in automatic transformations.
It wasn’t like a dirty shirt he could take off and wash.
If his solution was so easy, he wouldn’t even be in the situation he was in now. He wouldn’t have originally fought with his fiancé; she wouldn’t have gotten upset and gotten slammed and driven and died. He wouldn’t have pursued the issue to the point that she even wanted to drink until she forgot what she was trying to forget. There were a lot of things about his personality and inner workings that he wished he could change, but Jayden had learned the hard way that there were just some things he couldn’t change.
And the way he reacted to some things was one of them.
Listening to Jamie, he suppressed his anger, simply standing there with his arms crossed and snarled as she stepped closer to him, taking a step back, not wanting her in his large space bubble. By now he had degraded her back to the status of ‘stranger’ and wanted nothing to do with her in his particularly spacious perimeter of comfort. Sighing in a frustrated manner when she went off then stopped he snarled back at her, not taking in most of her rant, not wanting to hear what he had heard a thousand times before, All right, you know what? Fuck you. You’d think that when you found out what I was you’d settle with what I was, I can’t do a complete god damn turn around in just two years, and don’t you dare think that you know what I want to do with my riding. I picked up riding because it was something the physical therapists told me to get into, and I liked it. I don’t give a shit if I make it to the higher levels or not.
He stopped talking as he realized his temper was rising.
Clenching his jaw he glared at her (if looks could kill, his glare would probably be a machine gun fitted on top of a tank), falling silent for a second he took a small step closer to her, still keeping her out if his reach out of her safety (he couldn’t trust himself anymore), he curled his lip up into a silent snarl before bitterly saying, And since you’ve already forgotten why we’re even fighting…I. Don’t. Want. Your. SYMPATHY. Taking another step back he ran a hand through his hair, then let his hand fall to the chain of dog tags around his neck, tugging at them, feeling the cold metal bite into his skin at the added pressure, flashing a dark look at her he flatly said, I think it would be best if we were just friends, I’ll see you around…or not. I’m beginning to think that I do not mesh well with people like you. Not particularly caring anymore (since trying had gotten him nowhere) he turned around and walked away.
A fair weathered man he was.

This wonderful date idea was turning out to be the worst idea Jamie had ever had. Maybe she just really needed to not care about dating and concentrate so hard on her riding she'd never get laid again. Ok, that was a bit extreme but at this moment she felt that way. Other than the fact she had gotten into a fight in a ZOO, she was also just told 'fuck you' and that people like 'her' weren't going to mesh with Jayden. When he started to snap at her she started to try to make herself seem small, something she did when she was scared of someone. It was apparent she was now thoroughly scared of him and he was just becoming more and more scary by the word. She wasn't liking this situation at all, she just wanted it to have never have happened but that wasn't going to work.
When he started to walk away she watched him, swallowing. Now it was her turn to catch up with him again but should she? Should she put herself in that position and try to talk to him? Or should Jamie just let him walk away with his boxers wrapped around his dingaling to the point he would be an ass to her every time she saw him? This turned into a battle in her head and she sighed, saying, "I'm going to the bar. I need a damned drink." She said it loud too, talking to herself as she started towards her car. It was past him so she tried to walk as fast as she could with her head down so she didn't have to look at him. Patting her pockets for her keys, she had a minor panic attack when she didn't find them in her pocket. It took her a good minute to realize they were hooked through the belt loop of her jean skirt on her butt.
Jamie came to a stop at her truck with a sigh, shaking her head and slid her fingers through her hair. What had she just done? Had she really just killed her chances with a decent guy simply because she didn't know how to filter her words and not blurt them out? So far that's how it was looking. He had just told her they would at best be friends and that he probably wouldn't mesh well with her. He hadn't said it to her, he had snapped it in her face to where it was echoing in her head as she stood there. Opening the door to her truck she climbed in, just sitting there attempting to clear her head. A few tears managed to slid down her cheek which she went to brush away, the reality of what had just happened hitting her full force now. Jamie hated her life, hated how she was and hated being who she was. Yeah, seems like Jayden wasn't the only person that couldn't change their bad habits with ease.
