give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - Staring at herself in the mirror, her pale reflection looked right back at her. Bright, blue eyes gleamed in excitement, grinning and revealing two rows of perfect white, straight teeth. She had spent the last hour trying to find out something to wear. It was freezing out, so wearing a dress definitely wasn't in her book of preferences. She had finally decided on a pair of dark wash (well, they were pretty much black) skinny jeans, and a dark purple cardigan with a white tank top underneath. Running her fingers through the ends of her long blond hair. She had straightened it, and had her bangs pinned up. Overall, she was quite pleased with her appearance. A pair of small, black strappy heels in her hand, she was satisfied with what she was wearing tonight. Her bag was sitting on her bag, with her cell phone laying beside it. Wandering over, she checked the time and realized that Aubrey was going to be here in five minutes or so.
Looking over at her door as someone knocked. “Come in?” She said, then regretted it the moment her dad stood in the open doorway and eyed her.
“Where are you going?” He asked. “On a date.” “With who?” “A boy,” she said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Her father sighed, running his hands through his thinner brown hair. Watching his daughter with a slight look of irritation and weariness, he ignored her blunt and shortness and continued on.
“Did you ride your horses today?”
“Yeah. I rode Sunday and Tio.”
He frowned, and she looked at him with a look of boredom.
“And the other three?”
“Nope.”
“Why not?”
“Does it look like I have time? Between being trapped in school for six hours, I only have a certain amount of time after school. Sometimes on a good day I can get three of them done, but I had to stay late after school to finish a lab in Chem.”
“Well, you need to make time. Maybe we should get rid of one of them, it's expensive to keep five if you're not riding them.”
There was a knock on the door, that she didn't hear. But her mother, on the other hand did. Smiling at Aubrey and letting him in, she sweetly told him that Danielle would be down in a minute.
“BECAUSE YOU KNOW I CAN DEFINITELY MAKE MORE TIME. Between the fact I have a part time job, school, and horses I definitely have a lot of free time. I barely work Kaelee anymore because she's getting older. Grace has a little girl riding her a couple times of weeks in lessons.”
“Maybe we should just sell her to the girl then!” “FUCK OFF. Seriously. I'm not selling any of them. I've told you a thousand fucking times. Just- as much fun as I have talking to you, dad I have to go.”
Grabbing her shit, she pushed passed him and made her way down the stairs. Ignoring her father who was a couple feet behind her, looking absolutely furious with her.
“DANIELLE ASHLEE MARKS!”
Rolling her eyes, she skipped the bottom to stairs and wandered in to the living room. She was quite surprised to see Aubrey and her mother standing there. She smiled at him as she walked up, ignoring her father entering the room. “Hey, Aubrey,” she said. Eyeing both of her parents wearily, with her free hand she grabbed his arm lightly. “Let's go.”
She wanted to escape her crazy parents before they did anything else.

my teeth and ambitions are bared! He was early. It was 7:50. Ten minutes earlier than he had expected to be there, but he never really drove slow and rarely adjusted his time of departure to fit his reckless driving style. He sat out front with his car idling in hopes that she’d already be ready, but who was he fooling? What woman was ever ready on time, much less early? Tapping the steering wheel he sighed angrily to himself and debated his choices. He could sit in his car and pollute the air for as long as it took for Danielle to be ready, or he could walk up to her house and hope her parents weren’t home.
Aubrey didn’t interact well with parents.
Considering he did not have the most healthy relationship with his own parental figures, he had a hard time dealing with other parents in result. Which meant, in the event that Dani’s parents were home and she wasn’t ready, he’d have to find a way to behave like an acceptable young man that most parents would allow their precious daughter to go out on the town with; if he were to act like the young man he normally was, he’d probably be shot in the head before he could take a step into the door.
But his gas tank was going down the more he waited, and money beat emotions.
Killing the car he got out and slowly walked to the door. He was wearing a pair of dark jeans and a long sleeve cotton button down and a leather jacket over it. For a few seconds, he stared at the door, and assumed that she was not alone. Gritting his teeth he knocked. It was too late to run as her mom opened the door and invited him in. Upstairs, he heard the sounds of a verbal fight going on. Her mom asked him what his name was, Aubrey King. Her mom told him she’d be down in a moment, he looked up at the ceiling and said, She sounds like a spider monkey when she screams, doesn’t she? Her mom only stared at him, he grinned back at her and she assumed he was kidding and smiled back.
However, he was not kidding.
In a moment of unnoticed sarcasm, Dani came storming down the stairs, shortly followed by her father, the two parents stood side by side and watched as their daughter dragged him out the door, he smiled and waved at them and said, I’ll bring her back in two pieces! The rest of the evening was quiet, small talk mostly, the dinner was as good as a semi-cheap dinner could have been, but what had changed was that as he was beginning to take her home, she suggested they go to his house for a bit. Aubrey was not going to deny, so he gave in and changed their course.
It didn’t take long to get there.
Pulling into the drive of his house, he killed his Audi and let her out and led her into his moderately sized house. Sitting her down on the couch he grabbed a bottle of vodka, and two glasses, but only poured up one, if she wanted any she’d have to get her own. Sitting down by her on the couch he started to do shots and then looked at her and said, Oh, you want some?

give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - She was definitely glad he had a sense of humour to put up with her parents. Because honestly, you really needed one. Both of them very old fashioned and strict, believing that their daughter had to be the best or she'd be an embarrassment. And that was why her two older siblings had been the ones that always shone the brightest in their eyes, and even to this day they'd pull the “your sister wouldn't have done that” or “your brother got nine eight percent in that” card. And after seventeen years of hearing it, the act was getting old fast. Stopping as she closed the door behind her, she quickly slid on her heels and made her way after Aubrey. Adding a couple inches to her height, but honestly didn't make much of a difference considering she was already quite short. But at least she tried, she somehow was deemed with being short while both of her siblings, and parents both stood at least a good four inches taller than her. She wasn't all that sure how that had happened, but she didn't think it was quite fair.
The date had gone quite smoothly, or at least the first part of it. Just a quiet dinner between the two of them, she had tried to really start conversation but it hadn't seemed to last long and she let it drop. It had distracted her from the frustration with the earlier comment from her father. Her parents were getting worse and worse through her senior year of high school. Pissed off that she wasn't in a million extracurricular activities, but honestly between having a job, a shitload of horses, school. She had been in volley ball and soccer for awhile, but dropped out of both because it was just getting ridiculous. But she wouldn't let the stress that her parents brought on bring her down. Her good mood had faltered when her father texted her (she was still mortified that he knew how to text) about several times telling her that she better be back before midnight, or else.
That just pissed her off even more, turning off her phone and not replying she decided that she'd try and be home as late as she could to prove a point.
Dinner hadn't been dragged out long enough for her liking. It was close to ten, but she really didn't want to go home just yet. Breaking the silence between them, she suggested that they went to his house for a bit. She hadn't expected him to disagree, and was pleased when he pulled off on to the next road. But then again, how many twenty year old boys would not want to take a cute girl home to their house after a date, especially if they were willing? Silence remained between, the only real sound was the dull distant talking from the radio.
His house wasn't small, but it definitely wasn't huge. As he lead her inside, she couldn't help but to notice that it reminded her of the house she had lived in back in Connecticut. A bit larger than her old house, but the layout seemed similar (well, at least from what she could see). “Nice house,” she said simply. Setting her back down on the floor, she slid out of her heels and prodded along silently behind Aubrey as he went in the living room. Sitting down on the couch, she crossed her legs and leaned back. Usually she was so busy going along that she missed the details of everything, letting her blue eyes scan the room in her absence she realized that there wasn't anything terribly exciting in his living room.
Smiling slightly at him as he returned, she noticed he set down a bottle of Vodka and two cups, not wasting a minute to help himself to something to drink. Shifting slightly, she just gazed around the room, slightly lost in her own thoughts until he spoke to her. Looking back over at him, she glanced down at the open alcohol and cup. She hadn't drank since before she had moved here, which was a good couple of months now. Needless to say, last time she had just said one drink.
Which had somehow turned in to several.
“Eh, why not.”
Shrugging, she leaned forward and moved closer to him (using the fact she couldn't reach that far because she was short to her advantage). Filling up her cup with the clear liquid and sitting closer to him so their knees were almost touching she took a sip and felt it burn the whole way down. She was use to the feeling, and knew the more she drank the less it'd burn. But, she didn't know what she was getting herself in to tonight.

my teeth and ambitions are bared! If most parents took the time to sit down and talk with Aubrey, they’d realize that the seemingly polite young man they had invited into their house was not the man they’d want their poor daughter fraternizing with; but he believed in trial and error learning and would often times do his best to appear as a well mannered, likeable young man with an intriguing British accent and a kind smile that barely hid the cunning and arrogance. Most of the times it was all he could do to keep from making smart ass comments about a daughter’s parents in front of them. It was surprising to him that he hadn’t wrecked his relationship with Dani’s parents in the thirty second time frame that he had with them.
However, that was about to change since he had no plans on returning their daughter before midnight.
Perhaps it was his disdain for anything ‘parent’ or his need to make other people’s lives miserable, but he was going to do just about everything he could to make her as humanly late as possible, maybe even twelve hours late (that was his ultimate goal). Watching as she shrugged and then grabbed her glass he had brought out for her, she too began to do shots. Aubrey knew exactly where he was taking this, and it was of little concern to him if Dani knew, understood, or cared about his ulterior motive to getting her drunk. Sure, he should probably be concerned about their age difference, but as he learned a long time ago, ‘law’ was also one of the many things he didn’t worry about.
For all he cared, she could go to the police tomorrow with her story and he wouldn’t change.
In fact, Aubrey seriously doubted there was something or someone out there that would ever make him voluntarily change his behavior. She scooted closer so that their knees were touching; he smirked and watched her from out of the corner of his eye. He was not drunk, he was a heavy weight, and it’d take more than three shots to get him wasted, Dani however did not seem to be like the veteran of the bottle, just like he had assumed. She shuddered every time she took a shot, but perhaps out of desire to be accepted into Aubrey’s book of good graces she kept going like a trooper.
Perhaps he’d make a party girl out of her yet.
The once half full bottle of vodka was dwindling down and Aubrey was shocked she had not passed out yet. Leaning forward as she went to pour another shot, he ripped the bottle from her hands and finished it off, grimacing at the onslaught of bitter liquid as it seared his throat and set a fire in his stomach. Eyeing her he pulled her close and whispered into her ear, Hasn’t anyone told you that drinking most of someone’s vodka is really rude?

give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - She had told herself in the summer that she wasn't going to drink anymore after the last party she went too. There hadn't been a time where she could even remember being as hungover as he had been the day after. Needless to say she didn't want to do that again, but her promise of not drinking hadn't lasted very long. All of a month, and by the time she realized she probably shouldn't be drinking she had already had about five shots down and it wasn't going to make a difference if she drank more or stopped. Licking her lips as she set the shot glass down for a moment, she closed her eyes and made a face at the burning sensation that ran through her veins. Usually (well, when she had been partying at least twice a week) after the third shot it wouldn't burn. She could tell that she had been a good girl lately and hadn't drank at all. She couldn't quite focus on anything too clearly either, which had use to be her warning sign to stop drinking. But tonight, she ignored it and poured herself another drink, or maybe three, she hadn't kept count until Aubrey snatched the bottle from him.
Frowning at him, she watched as he pretty much drained the remaining liquor. She hadn't expected him to pull her on to his lap. She hadn't realized how cold she was, his sudden warmth made her lean in to him slightly. His voice was warm against her ear sent a shiver down her spine, and she looked up at him and raised an eyebrow at his comment. “Well, you shouldn't have offered it to me then. And no, they haven't,” she mumbled, surprised that her words weren't even more slurred together. Leaning back slightly, she studied him and took in that he was even more good looking than what she had thought before. Or maybe that was just the alcohol... she decided to go with both.
“I guess I'll have to make it up to you then,” she said, flashing him a devilish grin. “But... I don't know how.” Her voice was quiet, and she frowned deeper looking like she was thinking about something quite difficult. “I'm assuming you could think of some ways though?” Leaning closer to close the gap between them, she kissed him gently. Her idea of making it up to him was much different than the one he'd have in mind, and maybe if she had actually listened to the constant lectures about how alcohol changed people. And every time she had been drunk she had been surrounded by friends who would bail her out if she was getting herself in to something she regretted. This was one of those times, and she had no one to save her now.

my teeth and ambitions are bared! Just like with most females, age did not pose as a question in his mind as something he should be concerned about. He knew full well that he could be charged for statutory rape, even if the other half of the whole was as willing as he was, he knew that his defense would not hold up in court should her parents figure out that he was not 18 years old as they probably guessed and knew what they did and sue him. Besides, he had a healthy hate for authority and prosecutors of justice, he could only behave for so long in court before he got on the defense, judge, and jury’s nerves and probably get himself kicked out.
Unfortunately, Aubrey was not as civilized as his parents may have hoped.
However, growing up with a brother that wanted to break his neck most of the time and having nothing more than a nanny to keep him in line, he was left to grow on his own, he had a vague sense of right and wrong, while he could maintain proper etiquette at a dinner table and properly set up a table for dinner with the forks and everything in all the right places, his ‘values’ were way off. In Aubrey’s world, the first rule was Aubrey first, others second. It was rare that he’d help someone unless he got something substantially useful from it.
He had a hard time telling whether Dani was surprised or not as he pulled her to him.
Her weight leaned against him, his hands lowered to rest on her thighs, dark brown eyes watching as she studied him then said she’d just have to make it up to him but didn’t know how, he raised an eyebrow and said, Oh come now, you’re a high school student, don’t they teach you how to be creative anymore? Or are they just throwing books at your heads and hoping you’ll eventually absorb something? It was far from surprising as she kissed him, in fact he had been waiting for her to make the first move.
Aubrey rarely instigated anything, especially on the first date.
Much like a fisherman with his hook thrown out to sea he simply provided the bait and waited for the fish to come to him. He wasn’t going to waste his time with someone who was rather uninterested in him, because he’d much rather waste his time on someone who would happily be around him and not be thinking of being anywhere else. Rule two of Aubrey’s world was that when around Aubrey, all thoughts must be on him; no exception. He leaned into the kiss then slowly pushed Dani down on the couch, knees on both side of her hips, breaking the kiss he said, You’re not very creative, you know that?

give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - Glancing down under her lashes at his hands on her thighs, she laughed lightly under her breath. “They really don't, the second is as true as it comes.” For a moment she had forgotten that Aubrey probably had graduated three years ago, but it didn't bother her (and she wasn't exactly sure how old he was, it never really came in to conversation). School was just an inconvenience to her, and many others that were in her classes. She barely had any time now, and really wanted to quit her job but wanted to prove a point to her parents that she could keep up with AP classes, her job and horses. It had seemed like a good idea at the time, but as they got farther in the term and the busier she got the more she began to kick herself in the ass for being so stupid.
And that had been after she had decided to drop the two sport teams she had joined at the beginning of the school year. Being the overachiever she was bit her in ass, especially now.
Soft lips worked against his own gently, sliding her arms around his neck as she pushed her down on the couch. The usual red alarm would be going off in her mind now as his knees were on either side of her, but in her hazy thoughts it never even occurred. Unlike all of the other boys she had kissed, Aubrey definitely had intentions on taking it farther than that and wasn't afraid to cross that line. Under the influence of alcohol, that definitely wasn't a good situation for her to be in. Leaning her head back slightly on the arm rest as he commented on her lack of creativity, she laughed quietly with her arms still wrapped around his neck loosely.
“Really? Mmm, no one's ever told me that before. I guess there's a first for everything,” she said, pausing for a moment she studied his face. “You're very handsome, but I think you already know that.”
Leaning up again, she kissed him once more. This time deeper than before, with more urgency. The temperature seemed to be rising (or maybe it was warm and she never noticed until now), a burning sensation set in the pit of her stomach as they continued to kiss. Arching her back, she pressed herself in to him and tightened her arms around his neck slightly.

my teeth and ambitions are bared! School was something that Aubrey paid little attention to back in England. While his parents took a little bit of pride in their children’s schooling, they still had the philosophy of ‘eventing above all’, and they even meant school. If Aubrey was asked to tell of all the events at his school his parents had missed simply because they were too busy furthering their equine career, he’d be basically walking through his entire childhood, as he felt that his parents missed out on many major events; like his first lost tooth, his pre-school graduation, his middle school graduation, his high school graduation, his first school dance, his first date. All missed and never documented down as it should have been.
Now, his horse events were something completely different.
If the co-star for the event had four legs, couldn’t throw up, and twice the size of their son then they were there and they had front row seats to the spectacle. While Aubrey liked having horse show parents, he wouldn’t have minded if they stopped by his school events every now and then. With that being said, he never found the pressure to perform well in school; he simply finished in an average spot with an average amount of scholarships and an average education. There was nothing extraordinary about his schooling; and he couldn’t say different for his brother.
Their real tests were on the back of a horse.
To Aubrey, it appeared that his brother did not mind the lack of attention, but being the needy second child who was already having to compete with his already mostly loved older sibling, he wouldn’t have minded the extra attention, in fact he believed that if he had received the adoration he so desperately sought, he’d be a completely different person . Though, Aubrey was pretty ok with who he was. Aubrey now was a man who was selfish and self centered ‘help’ was not a word in his vocabulary unless it was used in a sentence with him as the subject.
It would be a lie to say that Aubrey cared that he was going to probably hurt Dani’s feelings.
His thoughts were that she brought the pain upon herself and could easily chose to get over it quickly rather than dwell. Dwelling caused pain, pain was also caused by care, and therefore care was to be avoided at all costs. Danielle was going to get no different treatment. She replied to him, he smiled then his lips were locked against hers once more. Tired of beating around the bush, Aubrey stepped over the line of morals and slid his hands under her shirt, pulling that off over her head, his lips returning to hers.
It was a slow decline to the proverbial bottom from there, wasn’t it?

give me one more shot with everything you've got, - - - - - - - - - - Her night had ended with heavy breathing, kisses, clothing being discarded and his hands running over her body. The remaining details from there on were hazy due to the alcohol, but it wasn't hard for two and two to be put together. Especially when she woke up beside him in his bed without any clothing on. Rubbing her face and keeping her hands over it, she groaned quietly at the sudden nauseous wave that over came her. Swallowing hard, she fought it back and laid there on her back. The only other sound was Aubrey's slow, laboured breathing beside her. She definitely wished she would have stayed with that promise of not getting that hammered ever again, because she was regretting that right now. Her head was spinning and pounding, she didn't dare try to even open her eyes again right yet. Closing her eyes, she rubbed her face again and rolled over on to her side so she was facing the wall (rather than Aubrey like she had been earlier). Her body ached, her head was pounding, she felt like shit right now and there was no other way to put it.
Finally opening her eyes, it made her head hurt even more. She thought about the events of last night, a cold shiver running down her spine. Some places were foggy, but she knew very well what had happened. Feeling a bit awkward about the whole situation, she listened to the pounding rain against the roof. She just wanted a fist full of Advil and to sleep away the hangover, but that probably wasn't going to happen. Curling up and pulling the covers tighter around her body she fell back in that state where she was half asleep, but still briefly aware of her surroundings. The last time she had been this hungover, the night before hadn't gone nearly anything like that. A big house party with a ton of people (she didn't even know who was hosting it, she just let a couple of her guy friends drag her along) which ended in too many games of beer pong and a very drunk and disorderly Danielle. Lucky for her, they were decent enough people to make sure that nothing happened to her, and none of them even dared to try anything with her.
Half of her missed her friends back home dearly. All she really had here was a couple people at school and Faith (their friendship was a bit different than what most would consider normal). But none of those would get the closeness and trust that she shared with those people, who all seemed to go on without her in their life and move on without ever trying to see how she was doing. It didn't bother her anymore as much as it use to, she was busy enough as it is. But at moments like this where she laid there and thought about it, deep down it still got to her.
The sound of Aubrey's voice woke her up from that half-asleep state of mind, rolling over to face him she ignored her stomach turn. Realizing she hadn't even heard what she said, she groggily managed to say: “Hu-what?”

my teeth and ambitions are bared! It was rare that Aubrey ever drank until his memory nothing but a scrambled egg with the inability to even recall who he was with the night (or day) before. Last night was no exception. While Dani may have gotten herself too far over the edge, Aubrey maintained a certain degree of control over himself, but a simple vessel only courting Danielle’s dark desires (it wasn’t like he was going to say no). Though she never voiced it, he believed it was all about body language, and last night, Dani was screaming ‘fuck me’ at the top of her body language lungs.
It was hard to ignore.
No soft sunshine filtered through his open blinds as the late hours of the night turned into the early minutes of the day. Thick, rain-laden clouds hovered over the area then let down a torrential downpour, rain drops ticking against his window, thunder rumbling across the sky and window panes in his house and lightning providing the only natural light as it flickered through the clouds. He rolled over in his bed, yanking the covers close to himself and sprawled out farther, only for his feet to come in contact with another pair of legs. Dark eyes shot open with surprise and his face was met with a half-sleeping face of Danielle.
His eyes narrowed, hadn’t he told her to go home?
Ok, so he could remember most things from the night before. Stretching, he rolled over and buried his face into the pillow, trying to sleep off his hang over. This lasted for about five minutes before he rolled back over, wide awake and in pain, and said quite loudly, Fuck. Why the hell are you still here? Go home. Her eyes fluttered open and she groggily replied with a ‘huh?’. Glaring at her he scooted back and braced his feet on her much naked side and gave a mighty shove, watching as she fell out of bed. Crawling over to the side where she fell off he looked down at her and said, Go home is what I said. Take all your clothes with you too, anything you leave behind will be burned. I have an umbrella downstairs by the front door you can take, I think it’s got some holes in it, but hey, it’s better than nothing, right? Don’t get pneumonia, I’d like to do this again.
