Lately, Max's life had been slowly sliding in the direction of a living hell. He had broken the cardinal rule of being Max and fallen for a girl... and not just any girl, but the superstar athlete student council party planning committee church girl Savannah Hayes. How the hell he'd managed to just fall head over heels like a stupid love struck puppy for a girl like her was beyond him. But whatever, he played along... until she decided that bringing him up to her bedroom was a good idea, and afterwards throwing him out would be even more wonderful. Then she'd apparently gone and cried to Zach, and he still had no idea what she'd said to him, and that pissed Zach off. So at the next football game, Zach convinced the team that Max would be better off pulverized than he was now, so they kept letting the defensive players through the line to flatten him while he was just trying to play his role in the game. Then when Max tried to get Zach to tell them to stop letting the guy through, Zach flat out punched in in the face on the middle of the field.
Having put up with all of that because the girl he liked had invited him up to her bedroom and had sex with him, just to be punched in the face by his own quarterback in front of everyone in the whole town... well, Max was pissed. He was so pissed that when Savannah tried to intercept him to apologize after Max effectively quit the team and stalked off the field, he'd rather rudely told her to "fuck off." Now he was pretty sure that anyone who had still been his friend before Zach punched him would rather have nothing to do with him. Considering Zach was the quarterback, he was probably the most popular guy in school... which meant anyone that he didn't like, everyone else decided they didn't like either. Basically, Max was now Addison High's number one outcast.
For that reason, Max had been spending a lot more of his time running than usual... which was a lot considering Max ran everywhere. He had a car, but he rarely drove it. It pretty well just sat in the driveway and MAYBE went out once every other week. Max was kind of a freak of nature when it came to running. He loved it. The more he ran the more energy he had to run more. He was addicted and he wasn't afraid to admit it. He could run for hours on end and still have energy to go do whatever else he felt like doing that day. His former teammates had called him the energizer bunny from hell because the coach was always asking them why Max was always putting all of them to shame when it came to running drills when the guy had never played football before this year.
On this particular day, Max had been out running for several hours, he wasn't really too sure, when he came to the sudden realization that he was completely out of water and, despite the chilly weather, was beginning to feel about like he was being roasted on a spit over an open flame... which was not exactly a good feeling. When he slowed to a walk, he realized that he'd run all the way to the lake from home, which was quite a long distance. Most people would be put off by the idea of running all the way back, but for Max, the prospect was incredibly exciting. Fortunately, he knew better than to start back without giving himself time to cool down a little and find a spigot to fill his water bottle with. As long as he was cooling down, he figured he might as well walk down to the docks and see if there was anything interesting going on down there, even though he knew that in the cooler weather people tended to abandon the beach until it warmed up again.
When he reached the end of the dock, he found himself thinking that it might feel good to just jump right in. That would certainly cool him off in a hurry. "If you wouldn't turn yourself into a human ice cube." he said, talking to himself, a habit he had when he was alone. Some people thought he was a little bit crazy, and it was entirely possible that he was.

Lauren had been actually having a good year this year, which isn’t saying much because usually she always had a good year. She always joked that she was the favorite child, because all she had to do was bat her lashes at daddy and boom new car, new pony, money. Of course, the Scott’s were very well off.. But being daddy’s baby girl had it’s perks. Lauren was a people person but she also didn’t rely on other girls as companions. She was really into horses so it left little time for girl time, but some of her best friends were fellow riders and her older brothers public enemy number one.. Savannah Hayes. So now because of her brothers awful attitude and depressing demeanor and their falling out, Savannah could not come over for sleep over’s. Which meant Lauren was a little more alone that usual.
So when she heard her brother leave for a run she decided to trail after him, hoping to get juicy deets and maybe talk to him.. Not that she was even a good advice giver. She was more of a pesky little sister than a young philosopher. It was cold and she had ridden most of her ponies this morning, but she was supposed to go lesson on her new horse this evening. So why she decided to attempt to tail Max was beyond her, but before she knew it she was bundled up in a under armour winter running gear and pink Nike shocks.. Taking strides towards wherever her brother was going in such a hurry. She was pretty far behind him, just catching glimpses of where he was going but after a while she figured it out. It was where most of the teenagers in Addison fled to at any season, especially the Summer.
The lake was actually one of Lauren’s favorite places in Addison also. She loved it the most in the summer, when all the hot college boys were flailing in the water and she could show off in a bikini and tan all day without a worry. Some awesome, rager parties also happened here at night in the Summer, but in the Winter it was generally quiet and full of teenagers who ran, read, or worked out here to keep up with sports condition. Lauren, unlike her brother, was not the best runner in the world. By the time she entered the park she was bent over, grasping her knees and heaving for every breath she took. She rose up, putting her hands behind the messy bun that was on top of her head and walked as she panted.
Her green eyes fell upon her brother sitting on the docks, looking longingly and depressed. The temptation to push the unexpected young man into the water made her tremble with excitement, but she knew he would probably kill her and feed her to the coyotes that wondered these parts at night. So instead she tip-toed behind him, putting her fingers on his shoulders and playfully pushing him forward before letting go and jumping backwards. ”If it wasn’t so freaking cold, I would have pushed you in.. AND HOLY FUCK.. How can you run like that all the time? I feel like I am going to die from lack of oxygen,” she groaned, plopping down on her butt next to him and throwing a rock into the water. ”You know… If you wouldn’t sleep with everything that walked you wouldn’t be in this predicament!” she announced, not avoiding the subject at all. ”And it wouldn’t put me into this predicament of being friendless unless I am out of town!” she added, picking at the wood and tossing it into Max’s lap.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #511f20 solid 10px; width: 450px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]i've been waking all my life tagged open notesrun maxxy run creditstemplate by irish! Family life for Max had really never been anything particularly special. Their family all pretty much got along, but Max had never felt particularly close to any of his siblings or cousins. Most of them were smart or artistic or into horses or musical. Max was none of the above. Max was pretty well the only athletic one in his family and in general no one understood that. He could run for hours upon hours upon hours and feel more alive than before he started. This was incredibly abnormal for a Scott, so they just didn't get him, which created a bit of distance between himself and the rest of his family members. Being sent back to Texas from Spain only increased that distance between him and everyone except for Lauren who was sent to look after him… because apparently she was the ideal person to keep him under control or something.
When he had taken off running he hadn't thought he was being tailed by his sister. She wasn't exactly the running sort of athlete, at least not for the distances and the speed that Max was. Running was what fueled him, Lauren… not so much. So when someone suddenly feigned shoving him into the lake, he as quite surprised, to say the least. After regaining his balance and not falling into the lake, he spun around towards that voice which he knew so well as his sister's. "You know I would have pulled you in after me." He snarked back at the blonde, "and it's called being an athlete… not that you would know anything about that since your horse does all the work for you." Max really didn't mean to pick at Lauren's sport, but he just couldn't help himself. He was her big brother, he had to do it, it was in the manual of Big Brothers.
"I don't sleep with anything that walks," he snarled, his tone changing from teasing to irritated, "Not that I need to explain myself to you of all people." Max was definitely not impressed with his little sister accusing him of being the reason she didn't have any friends. "And it's not like I initiated it anyway. Maybe you should try making some of your own friends instead of just latching on to my girlfriend like a leech." He wasn't really angry with Lauren, he just really wasn't in the mood to be accused of anything involving Savannah. He was pretty sure that she would never want anything to do with him now that he acted like a dick when she was just asking if he was alright, and he really didn't want to come to terms with that.
