"Hey there pretty girl," Connor whispered to the bay thoroughbred in the stall. She was the only one of his horses who was in the main barn. The other three were in the race barn, and were worked out and groomed daily. Angel was probably his favorite though. As an OTTB, she still had the fiery head of a race horse, but she was all his. He could ride her whenever and wherever he pleased. Of course, he owned the three in the race barn, but they were all strictly for racing. He hadn't even thought about taking them anywhere off of the track. Of course, when they retired from racing he would, but for now, Angel was his one and only to compete with as he pleased. The mare nickered to the man, but tossed her head up. She didn't want to be touched.
Connor had only come to say hello. She had already had her exercise for the day. Out of all of his horses, she was probably the one with the worst temper. Yet another reason she was off the track. With her attitude, she was potentially dangerous on the track. Of course, she hadn't hurt anyone and in the main barn as an English riding horse, there wasn't much chance she ever would. Connor trusted her completely. Even as stubborn as she was, she was a good horse. Just not a good horse for beginners. Angel pushed against his hand, knowing he had something in his pocket for her. He laughed at the mare, and reached down into his pocket, digging out a treat. Connor held his hand out to the mare who took the treat with grace.

Some called her crazy with the amount of horses she owned but to her it was a normal part of life. Each horse got their respected amount of time and she got some love in return from most of her horses. She was currently in the round pen with her yearling Ringo, she had made it through her riding horses unharmed for the most part and had worked with Goldie her other yearling but Ringo seemed to always take the wining for one of her favorites. She adjusted her cowboy hat and cued the yearling for a lope, he looked at her before he picked it up and moved smoothly and slowly out, he was such a pretty mover. Something every judge would want to watch and she just couldn't wait until she actually got to show him. She asked him to stop and he turned to face her coming in but being respectful of her space, she smiled and came the rest of the way. Scratching under his forelock and kissing the tip of his nose, you just have that way of bagging to be loved don't ya? She giggled and gave him another kiss and then led him out of the round pen and back to the barn. She clipped him into the wash rack and unclipped the lunge line and coiled it up before putting it away in the tack room. She then hosed him down and dried him up real good before going a getting a brush to pull some of his dead hair up and out of his coat, she watch clumps of that fuzzy winter coat hit the ground and could only shake her head, out of all her horses he was the one that got the fuzziest. Think that's good enough for today. She kissed his nose again before giving him a treat and heading down to his stall. She passed a man and gave him a kind smile before disappearing into Ringos stall to give him a little more love.

Angel whinnied at him, as if she was begging for another treat. Connor laughed, and shook his head. "All gone!" he announced to the mare. She tossed her head up and stomped her hoof in response. Connor reached out towards the horse again, and the mare leaned into his hand. He smiled and scratched her forehead, glad she wasn't being such of a pain anymore. It was probably the treat. That usually helped the mare ease up. They'd probably been at the barn for about a month now, and it was home for Connor. He spent most of his time between the two barns at CrossFire. At least, when he wasn't at the track with his jockey or exercise rider. He didn't have any grooms at the moment, but he was working on hiring some.
Two of his racing horses had placed first in each of their races and he couldn't be more proud. Absolute Charm won the Derby, and Checkered Flag won the Four Year Old race. Goddess Fly High, his two year old, had placed second to last, but it had been her first race, so Connor couldn't expect too much out of her. Hopefully she'd get better as time goes on. His jockey, Maddie, was wonderful with all of his horses. He was glad he had found her. It had been such a surprise. Just meeting her while he decided to go out to lunch. Usually, he wouldn't bother a person in a restaurant, but he needed a jockey. At that point, he had been desperate. And she was wearing a jacket that had jockey written on it, and well, from there. It was pretty much history now. They were training daily, and everyone was doing amazing.
Connor noticed a girl walking her horse down to his stall and he smiled back at her. He hadn't been able to meet very many people yet. It seemed as if he was always working. He stroked the mare's nose and followed the girl over to her horse's stall. "Hey, you have a gorgeous horse," he said, "I'm Connor, by the way."

She rolled her eyes as the young horse bumped her and then trotted off to the opposite corner of his stall snorting with happiness, she turned her back to him and before long she felt him whiffing across her hair and bumping her back. She turned around and scratched along his neck and under his forelock. Ringos ears were forward and eyes half shut. She nearly jumped when she heard the guys voice, turning around the smile still on her face, thanks and nice to meet you Conner im Kadence but call me Kay this is Ringo and he is not my only horse I have five others, once you have one you just cant seem to stop. She laughed, I couldn’t help but notice the beautiful mare you were loving on as well, she is sure somthin. She blushed, when that southern accent just seemed to slip right out. She exited the stall, adjusting her hat and watching as Ringo came right up to the door and looked at Conner with that are you going to love me or not look, topping it off with a snort. She rolled her eyes again, don’t mind him he just a big attention whore, so how long have you been here for, haven’t seen ya around till now. Kadence laughed and turned walking down a little from Ringos stall and stopping in front of Chiefs stall, she peered in and found him laying on his side asleep, so mister Conner do you have any other horses, she spoke walking back toward him, she could come off a little flirty at times and that could get her into trouble but ever sense Ty had left she had been looking for a little male affection and well for mr.right but she wasn’t in to big of a rush for that just yet. She gave him another smile and waited.

"Nice to meet you, Kay," he said and offered his hand to the girl. She sure was talkative, but he didn't mind. She was young, probably closer to ten years younger than himself, but she seemed kind. He nodded at the horse, with a smile. "And you as well, Ringo," he said. The horse was gorgeous and looked really healthy. Connor always admired horses whenever he saw them. They weren't just a passion for the man. They were his life, his career and pretty much everything. The three race horses he owned brought him all of his money. With the help of his jockey, they could make or break him, depending on how they were feeling that day. Though, so far they were doing great on the track.
"Thanks, she's Angel. Though her name should be Devil with her attitude," he joked. He laughed at her horse and he reached out to stroke his nose. "Oh, he's no problem," Connor said, "I don't mind." At her next question, Connor pondered for a second. He had lost track of the time since he moved to Addison. "I've probably been here for about a month or so," he said, "I'm not usually at the main barn very often. Angel is my OTTB." He loved the mare, though. She was a pain in the butt, but she was a great horse. If it wasn't for her attitude and a slight injury on the track, Angel would probably still be racing. He turned and followed her towards another horse. "I have three more horses, but they're all in the racing barn. Plan on getting more though once my racing career gets going," he said, adjusting his eyes to the girl.

She listened intently to the man, smiling and even laughing a little. Stopping and entering Chiefs stall, come on lazy bones, time for you to get some fresh air and stretch out a little bit. She smiled as the stocky gray heaved himself to her hooves and gave a might shake. She smiled and shook her head, turning when he spoke of training race horses and she just seemed to light up. You train race horses? Something I would like to get into that someday but for now I just train and show western horses. She turned back to Chief and patted his thick neck as she slipped the leather and silver platted halter over his face and buckled it, sighing quietly. It would have been nice to seen Chief here in his hay day, unfortunately he was hurt before I got my hands on him but he makes a good sire. She loved the gray he had won her over quite easily and she couldn’t say no when she went to the sale. She led the horse into the aisle and stopped, draping the lead rope over his neck and running her hand along his side and down each leg, checking for warmth or swelling and found now, that was relief. She looked up at Conner and gave him a smile, sorry if I come off as talkative and such, don’t meet to many people. She laughed, maybe she would go to the bar tonight and hook up with a guy, she needed a little lovin and cuddlin and that seemed to be the only way to get it, want to walk with me to the pasture? She asked softly, that southern accent slipping out, as she looked at him. To her he seemed young but slightly older then she but that didn’t bother her, not one bit. She quietly waited for him to answer.
