With a foal on her hands, Honor hadn't had much time to explore her new home. She'd seen the barn, the property around the barn, and her home, but not much else. She hadn't gotten to see the little city, or meet many new people. Just the few she'd met around the barn. And today wasn't the day to meet new people, unless they showed up at the barn. Honor walked over to the stall where her foal was located, next to the stall of her big Friesian mare. The mare whinnied at her, as if she was glad to see her. The black horse was the oldest horse she owned at 15 years old. Serendipity was the name she was given by 14 year old Honor. She was also one of the friendliest horses Honor owned. Honor patted the mare's nose, and opened the stall to the foal, Any Second Now. She clipped the lead to Annie, and led her to a paddock where she planned to start socializing the foal. Usually, the paddocks were for broodmares, but Honor needed somewhere she could watch the two horses socialize, and if anything went wrong, she could intervene easier than she could in a pasture. Not that she expected anything to go wrong. Once she got to the paddock, she unlatched the lead and let Annie roam freely around. Honor headed back to the barn to get the black mare, who was readily waiting to be released out of her stall. She was a patient mare, soft and caring. Perfect to introduce a small foal too. Although Annie may try to nurse her, Honor believed they'd get along, despite their differences. She led the big mare to the paddock with the foal, and released her into it. They greeted each other with a whinny, because they were already somewhat familiar, but hadn't been released together. Annie's ears flicked forward as she followed the big mare around the paddock. So far, so good. Honor leaned up against the fence, watching the two play together. Seren moved with big, strong strides, but careful not to hurt the foal. She eventually stopped in the middle of the paddock to graze, and Annie mimicked her movements. Honor smiled at the pair, watching the odd couple figure each other out. Annie lifted her head sharply, and trotted over to where Honor was standing. The woman put her hand out to stroke the filly's forelock, and then watched as the filly turned back towards the mare. At least the filly hadn't tried to nurse the mare yet. She wasn't sure how Seren would react. Serendipity had never been bred, although a foal wasn't a new concept to her. She was the perfect foster mother for foals Honor's mother took in. But that was years ago, when Honor had still lived on the ranch. It had been awhile since Seren had been around foals. Luckily, the fifteen year old was patient and kind, and accepted new horses with ease. As long as the foal wouldn't try to be violent with the mare, everything usually went okay. Honor stood up from leaning on the fence, and she smiled as she watched the two frolic. It was amazing how well Seren behaved, as she was trained personally by Honor. She started in halter shows at a young age, standing at odd angles for the young girl, with her neck pointed straight out and head held high for the judges. Honor shook away the memories as they brought back hard memories of her parents, and focused on the horses. Tagged;; David Adams. Words;; 598. David Adams
The stacked black Duramax pulled in and the engine ran for a second; it rumbled for a minute before the engine was shut off. David jumped down slightly from the truck. He had recently put a lift kit on it and really upgraded the shocks for hauling the goose neck with ten-thousand plus pounds of pissed of bulls. The way they could make that thing rock was fairly remarkable, and yet terrifying... Yeah, terrifying twenty-four hundred pound animals back there slamming the metal and jumping like they were kids in a bounce house... He moved quietly into the barn, saying the occasional hello to those who acknowledged him until he was at Ace's stall.
He opened the door after grabbing a halter and lead. He quickly placed it on Ace and the two made their way out the pastures.. or at least they tried. Two small girls fallowed Ace once he was out of his stall and apparently he was their favorite on this side of the barn and they had nothing but compliments to offer- Ace was slightly uninterested in David as the girls walked away. "You have a fallowing already.. But hey, at least one of us has some friends." He said jokingly and patted the gelding on his neck. They started once more for the pastures and finally made it outside. The weather was fairly decent and Ace looked rather happy to not have snow blown in his face, not to mention David was thrilled to not have to wear his jacket!
Ace was quietly grazing while David stood next to him. He figured standing was better than sitting in the snow. Ace's ears were constantly on a swivel as he took in a mouthful of dead grass and looked around. He hadn't had the chance to really go outside lately with the weather and all so he hadn't gotten the chance to explore yet either. Maybe today they'd just got for a bareback ride, maybe even find some cattle to harass. Suddenly Ace jerked his head as he heard a whinny and stepped to the side slightly. David almost fell over as Ace moved because he had leaned against him.. David looked around just as much as the grulla did and his eyes stopped when he saw a girl and two horses; a mare and foal perhaps... but one was a big black horse, looked to be a Friesian but the other didn't look so Friesian or even to be a cross..
David made a face as the gelding sneezed, covering the side of his face. "Thanks bud. I guess I didn't realize my face was clean." He said while he cleaned his face with his t-shirt. He decided instead of riding maybe he'd just turn Ace out for a few minutes and they'd just play or maybe not... Who knows. Ace started walking towards the person. He seemed far more interested in the lady than he did the mares and he forgot that David was in-tow to the point that David just jumped on his back, he didn't feel like getting drug. Ace's ears flicked back and he stopped until David asked him to move forward. "Go ahead I guess. Just be polite." He laughed quietly. Ace moved forward, taking bites of anything he could while he was moving. They made their way slowly down to the pasture before Ace was obviously thinking about shake'n this girl down for treats. "Sorry about my horse, apparently his ego has gotten the best of him and he thinks he's everyones favorite." He pulled Ace's head back slightly and made him take a few steps back as the horse began to reach for the girl. "That's a good looking mare and foal you've got." His eyes watched them closely as they seemed to be just recently turned out together so he figured it wasn't the mare's baby.

Six horses, half of them ready for competition and needed to be exercised daily, the other half either pleasure horses or being trained. And all six of them were the responsibility of Honor, by herself. Not to mention, one of those six was a foal who needed care day and night. Honor lived at the barn, besides the occasional time she got to go home, feed the dogs and sleep. She ate on the go, usually just a couple protein bars and lots of water. Her animals ran her life now, compared to a couple years ago, when she only had the Friesian and her dogs. Life was so simple back then, where she could do almost anything she wanted without having to worry about her animals too much. Her dogs usually traveled with her anyway, and her mare always stayed with her parents if she was going to be gone for too long. Her parents. She couldn't bare the thought of thinking of them. She missed them dearly, but she didn't want the memories. All the hurt and grief of losing them almost killed her. And she wasn't going to go through that again. Luckily, her younger sister had stayed strong through the tragedy, and helped Honor through it. She didn't know where she'd be if she didn't have her sister. Honor and her sister split up their parent's estate between them, with Honor taking the majority of the horses, and her sister continued to run the ranch. But Honor couldn't bare to be around the ranch anymore, which is how she ended up at Crossfire with her abundance of horses. Sure, she could sell one or two, but she felt like she'd be selling her only connection to her parents. And that just wasn't going to happen. It had been a year since the accident, but the thought of it still killed her inside. Even at the age of twenty-nine, she couldn't bare the thought that she lost her parents. They had been a huge help her entire life, basically her backbone. And then they were just gone. Within one night, gone forever. Honor didn't even get the chance to say goodbye. She wasn't in town with them when they lost their lives. Her sister had to call her and tell her to come home. That something was wrong, and she couldn't tell her over the phone. That night still lived vividly in her memory, and she didn't think she could ever shake the memory. Honor looked up at the pair, watching them chase each other around. They were a happy pair, although a rather odd pair. The Dutch Warmblood filly didn't look right with the Friesian, but it worked. Honor knew she needed another horse to look after the filly. Strict human socialization would lead to problems in the filly's future, and Honor didn't need that. She was lucky to have Seren around. She didn't know what she would do without the mare. Seren had been with her for years. Maybe she should breed the mare, but she didn't need another horse on her hands. At least, not for awhile. What she really needed was help. Someone who would take some of the burden for her. Sure, some of the stablehands helped out as much as they could with Annie's nighttime feedings, but it still wasn't good enough. Six horses was a lot for one person. Honor was so focused on her two horses, she hadn't even noticed the horse and rider who had just approached her until they were almost on top of her. She turned around, and took a step back to get a good look at them. The horse seemed friendly, but it was definitely begging. She smiled, and looked up at the handsome young rider as he spoke. "He's okay," she told the man, and started digging in her pockets for the treats she always kept on her. "He probably smells these. May I?" Honor questions, holding the sugar cube up for the man to see. She turned back towards her horses as he spoke. "Yeah, the foal is new to the mare. Seren is quite fond of foals," Honor said, admiringly. "That foal is a handful though, but she's a good baby all in all. Just ready to play, but aren't all foals?" she joked, looking back towards the man. Tagged;; David Adams. Ace could have jumped in this woman's arms when she offered him a treat, and it was a sugar cube to boot! He paused for a second, lips quivering before gently taking the treat and then licking his lips. He reached out again to see if she had more but felt pressure on his halter so he stopped and just stood still, like he knew he was suppose to.
David smiled at the woman spoke. "Of course! Just be warned that he will fallow you know." He laughed softly. He looked at the mare and foal once more before catching her voice again. "Well all of them that I've know were handfuls. Most of the horses my parents use on the ranch are BLM mustangs though so they're a little more feisty than others. This guy was powder keg with a lit fuse when I got him. But in the long run, they're all worth it." He gave Ace a pat before looking back to the foal. "Ace has always been my babysitter for the babies, mostly because he acts like one when he's with them..." With that being said Ace swished his tail and pinned his ears slightly; he always knew when David was picking on him. His ears perked again as he nickered to the girls.
David felt like he was forgetting something, and then he could've slapped himself. His name! How could he forget his name? What a dumb ass. "I'm David by the way. I'm new here." He smiled lightly before Ace reached out the woman. "And that's Ace." He said with a chuckle.

Honor always had treats on her. They were good when you had six horses to take care of, trailer and get the horses to do what you want. She usually carried sugar cubes, but sometimes they were alfalfa cubes, or carrot pieces. It depended on the day, and what she could come up with. Her horses knew she carried them too. Some days you could find one of them trying to nibble on her pocket to get at the treats. Especially Annie, who loved sugar cubes and would do anything to get one. Annie and Seren trotted over to the gate, both of them looking for a treat as well. Honor dug out two more sugar cubes and allowed each horse to take it from her hand. Once the horses were done with the treat, they realized there was another horse standing just outside the fence. Annie whinnied to the gelding, excited to meet another horse. The barn was a big place for the foal, with new faces and sounds everyday. Horses kicking their stall doors, whinnying to one another. People coming in to groom, feed and ride their horses. The sounds of grain being scooped rang throughout the barn on a daily basis. Everything was new to the filly, and meeting someone new was a great pleasure for her. As friendly as she was, she adored new horses, even if they didn't adore her so much. Seren, already protective of the new foal, stood between her and the gelding, though the fence separated them as well. Annie could peek around the mare's big neck, but she couldn't see as well as she used to be able too. Honor laughed at the sight, glad that Annie now had a foster mother. She had hoped it would work out, and was glad to see that everything would be just fine with the pair. "Eh, a cutie like this horse could follow me any day! I don't mind," she said, stroking the horse's nose. Honor had a love of horses, animals even, and could spend day and night with them. They were her life. She lifted her head back to David as he spoke again, nodding in agreement to his words. "Oh yeah, they're definintely worth it. They're amazing creatures," she said, her gaze drifting back to the pair in the paddock. The foal's attention had drifted towards the grass, as she grazed next to the mare. "Doesn't surprise me! He seems like a friendly horse," she said, with a little laugh. The foal's ears flicked forwards as she heard the sound of the nicker. She trotted back towards the fence, and nickered back to the gelding. Seren stayed put, but kept a wary eye towards the gelding. David. A name set for a strong man, courageous and bold. It looked like the name suited the man well. "My name's Honor," she said, introducing herself. She never figured out how she managed to get the name Honor, but she felt it suited her pretty well. "The foal is Annie, the mare Serendipity." she said, introducing her horses. At the sound of her name, Seren lifted her head slightly, pricking her ears up towards Honor. Tagged;; David Adams. Ace was more than happy to get some attention and David had to quickly remind him that he had to be respectful and remember his manners. Ace sighed before walking over to the fence and nickering at the foal. He reached his muzzle out slightly towards the fence before taking another step, openly inviting the foal to come closer. His ears were forward as he turned his head slightly trying to reach a little father into the pasture.
David returned his attention to the woman as she spoke. Honor. That was a rather different name from those at home but he liked it. He was going to speak but then quickly thought about what he was going to say.. No, he definitely couldn't say that... 'It's an honor to meet you, Honor...' yeah, that terrible! He laughed inside a little before focusing. "It's very nice to meet you Honor! I have to say that really is a beautiful name." His voice was sweet and sincere as he looked her directly in the eyes. Her eyes were captivating and he knew he had to look away in order for this not to be one-hundred percent awkward. His eyes then quickly moved to the mare and filly as they were introduced and Ace looked at Honor before looking back at the Annie with great curiosity.
David smiled as Ace behaved himself and he quietly ran his eyes up and down Honor, despite knowing she was a little older than himself. He wasn't the kind of guy who would usually do that, but how could he not? He had to look back to the horses so it didn't seem obvious, but it wouldn't surprise him if he got caught, he sucked at stuff like that. He had never really hit on a woman who was older than himself either, and wasn't sure if he should start now. After all, he was new here and he needed to make a good reputation for himself... But in the same way, he was new here, and nobody really knew him, nor did he know anyone else. Even if she just wanted to be friends... at least he'd know somebody, but he was never the kind of guy to make the first move. His mind was quiet as he watched Ace once again reach his muzzle out to Annie and Serendipity; he seemed like he was all into making friends.

The man was gorgeous, although surely, a lot younger than she was herself. Not that it mattered, but she had never been with a younger man herself. Usually, the guys she'd been with were a couple years older, or at least her age. Younger guys just never peaked her interest, really. They were always too cocky and arrogant, thinking they could get whatever girl they tried for. Honor couldn't stand that attitude. But David seemed different. Gentler, more mature than most guys his age. The majority of the guys around his age were just interested in drinking, gambling and having sex with any woman who came around them. Honor had never been interested in that style of life, even when she was David's age. The guys she grew up with revolted her, leading her to always date the older, more mature guys. Annie stuck her nose towards the gelding. She sniffed him, and whinnied back to him again. "If you want, you can put him in the paddock with them, as long as he won't hurt either one," she said, knowing Annie and Seren would be okay with the gelding. Seren got along with most horses, and Annie just wanted to play. The mare wasn't much one to play with foals, but she was a good mother to them. Honor loved having the mare around, although this was the first orphaned foal she raised without her parents. It was hard being without them. Seren watched the foal, but continued to graze. The foal was doing just fine socializing with the gelding. It was good for her to get to know other horses. Honor looked over at David as she spoke. Her name was very different, more of a nineteenth century name, when people named their kids after traits. She loved her name, and it suited her well. She wasn't one to tell lies or to deceive people. She caught his glance as he looked over her body. "It's very nice to meet you, David," she said, smiling softly at the young man. He was gorgeous, with his thick muscles and stunning body. She wasn't usually a girl to sleep around, but she couldn't see a relationship working with him anyways. Nothing besides friendship, that was. But if he was up to it, she was up for anything at the point. She was new to the town, and she didn't want to wreck her reputation. But one fling couldn't hurt. And if it didn't work out, they could always be friends afterward, as long as it wasn't awkward between the two of them. A younger guy wasn't usually in her tastes, but he was gorgeous. And he also seemed kind. "You know, you're gorgeous," Honor said, the words falling out of her mouth. She always had that problem of words falling out of her mouth. She didn't have that filter between her mouth and her brain that most people had. It was kind of embarrassing sometimes. She pursed her lips together, and looked down at the ground. She couldn't believe she had just outright admitted his attractiveness. Honor scolded herself, chewing on her lip hoping the man wouldn't mind. "Sorry, couldn't help myself," she said, apologizing. She glanced back up at the man, nervously. This wasn't her, but oh, how she wanted it so. Tagged;; David Adams. Words;; 561. Notes;; This sucks, but I've been distracted. David Adams Truck He seemed slightly shocked as she asked if he would like to put Ace out with her horses. People normally frowned upon that but he knew Ace would behave himself. "I think he'd really like that and he wouldn't hurt anyone." Ace's ears perked right up as the foal touched his nose. He started to jig a bit as David walked him to the gate, anyone could tell that he just couldn't wait to get in there. When he was let go, he just kind of stood there, quietly. Then after a second he took off running and bucking before finding a clean patch of snow and rolling ferociously. He then bounced when he got up, reared, spun, whinnied, and hopped before he snorted, looking directly at the foal. He nickered before he trotted over to her and sniffed her nose again before running away like a big baby, but he stopped and faced her. He seemed confused as to why she hadn't fallowed him. He tossed his head in the air before trotting in a tight circle, apparently forgetting the mare was even in there. As of right now, the foal had an open invitation to play.
David's face turned bright red and hot when Honor caught his glance. Yes, he officially sucked at casually checking out a woman. Anyone have an award for this guy? He froze while contemplating what to do and then she spoke, making it much worse. He tried to brush it off but he was too embarrassed. "I'm sorry..." His voice was quiet and shy as his eyes looked to the horses, where he knew he should have been focusing. He watched Ace make a complete fool of himself and David just smiled. Yeah, that's probably why they got along the way they did, unfortunately the horse was a little more confident than the human.
He felt very awkward after being busted but he just could not for the life of him keep his eyes off her, although this time, he was trying to be a lot more discreet. This wasn't something he did... Ever. But uh, you know, what could it hurt to try? His eyes quickly moved to hers as she spoke, and he was shocked. Did that really just happen? Seriously? Without thinking he spoke, and then attempted to correct what he said. The result was complete word vomit. "I was thinking the same thing.... But not about me, of course, because if it was about me that'd really just be really weird and really, really awkward. So I was thinking that about you because it's.. Well.. That's true." He mentally slapped himself and couldn't believe or hardly understand what he had just said! For that, two mental slaps!
He looked up at her once she spoke again and he noticed she looked fairly nervous. "That's uh not a problem and don't listen to a thing I just said." He was very embarrassed at this point but he found a strange confidence and he took a couple steps towards her until they were close enough to touch. "I don't usually do something like this but I can't help myself. Could you please tell me if you get the same feeling I do?" He reached down a little and kissed her before lingering on her bottom lip for a few seconds, almost unwilling to back away.

A kiss. That's all she wanted from the man. Okay, maybe not. Maybe she wanted a little more, but she didn't want to admit that to herself. Or to him. Honor chewed on her lip, to prevent herself from saying something stupid. She watched the man as he allowed the gelding to enter the paddock. Seren eyed him suspiciously, making sure he wouldn't injure the foal in any way. At first, the gelding didn't even look like he was interested in the foal. He just had a bunch of energy that needed to be released. Annie flicked her ears forward, and reared up a little bit playfully when he headed towards her. And when he ran away, she stood there confused. Once she figured out what he was doing, she followed him as he trotted in a circle around the mare. Seren lifted her head, and shook it, snorting as if she was watching two kids play. The mare pawed at the ground, as if she was digging for more grass, and began to graze again. Honor never usually noticed anyone checking her out. She wasn't one to get checked out, because of her bold personality and the way she couldn't stop herself from talking. Once they figured out the type of girl she was, most guys usually just quit talking to her. But then again, she also wasn't one to tell someone how gorgeous they were aloud. Especially not on their first meeting. She could have slapped herself for that one. When he apologized, she shook her head. "You're fine. I'll take it as a compliment," she said, and then scolded herself for that one. How cliche of her. She gave David a smile, and then looked back to the ground. She really didn't want to do this. But yet, she did. And right now, she wanted to do this more than anything. Her mind was conflicted, but there wasn't anything she could do about it. Except do what she didn't want to do. She listened to him stutter and ramble, and she looked back up at him as he eventually got around to what he was saying. "Thank you," she whispered, and then bit her lip again. He was thinking what she was thinking. But he was way younger than him. And she didn't know how well it would work out with the two of them. She didn't even know who he was. They had just met today, and now she was ready to jump him. How classy. Honor wasn't being very lady-like at all. Her parents wouldn't approve, nor would her sister. But at this point, they were far from her mind. All she could think about was him, and what she wanted to do to him. Honor glanced back at the horses, who were playing and happy in the paddock. Hopefully they wouldn't get in trouble for using the paddock for uses other than a broodmare. She didn't need that on her record with the stable owners. She liked it here, and wasn't ready to leave. "You're okay, I promise," Honor said, laughing softly at his stuttering. She wasn't trying to be rude, but she was nervous. Everything she was doing with this man was a first. And so far, they hadn't even done anything. Sure, she'd had boyfriends before, and relationships, but she never did anything on the first day of meeting them. It was crazy that she wanted to do anything at all now. A new town, a new face, and all she wanted to do was have sex with him. This wasn't her, but she was ready to give into her needs as long as he was. She took a step back as he approached her, not sure what he was going to do. But when he kissed her, she kissed him back. As he lingered there, she kissed him again and finally pulled back. "I think we have the same feeling," she agreed, stepping closer to him, their bodies almost touching, and kissed him again. This time, she kissed him harder, a sense of need and urgency lingering in the kiss. She wanted more of him, and she needed for him to know that. Maybe a kiss wasn't all she wanted.
