personality » Dar is very prone to sudden bursts of anger, somehow a short in his brain that causes him to just have a flare of temper. Not hard to imagine after everything he's been through. Overall, he's a very nice guy with a lot of self control and very little to say. He avoids large crowds, loud music, strobe lights etc. Everything that he knows will set off a reaction to his memories. When he's at the track, he just kinda blanks out and prefers to get things over and done with. He's very withdrawn into himself, but sometimes opens up to people. Only sometimes.

He's tall, easily 6ft1in and very little body fat, mostly muscle, but there's something in his blue eyes that suggest constant amusement. He never seems to shave as there is always stubble on his face. His chocolate and hazelnut shaded hair is always spiked and messy lately, having grown it out from the buzz cut that he had when he was in the army.

life history » Ever since Darius could remember, he was being pushed into going to the army when he left school. It was all his father could talk about and his grandfather would also tell him stories about Vietnam and the battlefield. Growing up in an average household, his parents managing their own Thoroughbred stud and training operation. The horses were what Darius lived for, but being the oldest, he was also alone. He was nine when his sister was born, and he didn't mind stepping into the role of big brother. His father wasn't a bad guy, but he always felt as if was excluded from the family in some way, like he didn't fit in. Maybe that was why his father always gunned him for the army, because he didn't want to see Darius around as much. It wasn't like for his siblings and Dar knew this.
He was smart, extremely so, and his real aspiration was to go into the medical field, knowing that he wanted to save lives. Innocent lives, because that is what his hero complex demanded of him. It was not to be, because as family tradition states, army it should be. Once out of high school, he was sent packing to the U.S Marine's, and spent three years, working his back end off before he was shipped out to a Naval Base on the east coast. He met his wife in Florida, and after a year, they got married. Too young, some might have said, but this was love after all. It was a rocky marriage, and when Dar was 29, he was shipped off to Iraq. One year active duty, six months at home, was the routine, and all at once, everything crumbled. He got a divorce, and seemed released somehow.
He didn't like the active duty he was sent on. In fact, he hated it. Nightmare's haunt him, and when he was 32, he was announced MIA. Taken hostage, he was tortured, beaten, starved and treated like an animal, but still, he had a home to return to and it kept him somewhat sane. Two and a half years later, his release was negotiated and he was returned to his parent's home in Lexington. He was in a bad shape. His leg had taken an infection, and had to be amputated and his body slowly recovered. His mind did not. Once diagnosed with PTSD, it became easier for him in a way, but he was a shell of himself.
He started helping to train the horses on his parents farm with his father's guidance, and moved to Addison about a year ago with a young string of his 'own'.
