personality » When it comes right down to it, Marshall is your typical cowboy. He lives for the open range on horse back and is happiest there. He won't exactly go out of his way to help a complete stranger, but if he happens across someone, he won't deny them help if they need it. At the end of a long day there's not much better, in his opinion, than a cold beer on the back porch. He's not really much one for sleeping around these days, but what cowboy didn't at least used to do so in his teen years? On a bad day, it's best to avoid him if possible, but it's not like he'll kill you if you can't manage to do so.

appearance » Marshall is definitely taller than most of his family at 6'2". He has a fairly tan skin tone which is greatly attributed to working in the sun all day long. He has striking dark green eyes and dark brown, almost black hair. Typically, he is a bit scruffy or else clean shaven. He is muscularly built, as you would expect any real cowboy to be.

life history » Marshall has lived his entire life in Addison. He grew up on his family's cattle ranch just outside of the city limits. He was riding long before he can remember and is a been there done that kind of guy. He loves working with cattle from his horse's back more than anything, and is certainly a real cowboy. He went through the whole teenage rebellion thing in high school, but that was promptly ended his senior year of high school while he was trailering his horse up to Wyoming for the high school reining championships. His tire had blown out on the highway on the downhill side of the pass in the very early hours of the morning. He'd managed to get it to the side of the road and had pulled the horse out and set about removing and replacing the flat when a runaway logging truck smashed into the trailer while attempting the curve. The trailer was whipped around, and smashed into the truck, crushing Marshall between the two. The horse was mostly unharmed as the twine his lead rope had been tied to had snapped when he panicked just before the trailer was hit. It took several days worth of hunting before they managed to find the lost horse who only had a few minor injuries.

It took a year of daily rehabilitation with a specialist before he could walk without a brace or a cane, but the pain never really went away... which was to be expected when he had 14 screws and 3 plates in just one leg to repair the damage. Of course, he was a bit humbled after the whole experience, but not totally knocked down off his high horse... he was only 18, after all.

His parents had wanted him to go to college, so he conceded and took a four year accelerated course in physical therapy, with every intention of working with kids using horses. He still can't ride a ton without severe pain, but he does what he can and has learned to be content with what he can do and to mind his limits.

personality » Since his retiring from full time competition, Des has mellowed out significantly. He is more than happy to just go out on a trail ride or go on an easy paced roundup, but if he's put into the arena he can really get up and go. He's not as quick as he used to be, understandably considering he doesn't compete near as much as he used to, but if he were to be given a little more sprucing up he could get back about right to where he used to be. Riding along roads is not recommended on this horse. He comes unglued at the slightest sound of an approaching vehicle.

personality » Roxie is a very laid back mare that was born on the Jenner Ranch. As a four year old she somehow manager to fracture her left hind leg and spent the next eight months out of work. When the injury healed she was broke to ride, but was only ever sound for light riding, and made the perfect children's horse. She loves kids and is the perfect babysitter.
