I did enough to show you that I
Was willing to give and sacrifice
And I was the one who was lifting you up
When you thought your life had had enough
And when I get close you turn away,
There's nothing that I can do or say
So now I need you to tell me the truth
You know I'd do that for you
Was willing to give and sacrifice
And I was the one who was lifting you up
When you thought your life had had enough
And when I get close you turn away,
There's nothing that I can do or say
So now I need you to tell me the truth
You know I'd do that for you
Maddie shut the front door to her house before rolling her eyes and cutting David off mid sentence. She was tired of hearing that he wanted to see what Honor was doing. Maddie genuinely liked her but come on, this was getting a tad annoying now. It seemed like they couldn't go anywhere without David somehow mentioning her. It was like he was still in the 'new puppy' phase, but it seemed like it really wasn't going away. She grumbled to herself as she walked to her car and slid in before starting it up. There was a party at the barn tonight and she figured she'd head over for a few, maybe even run into one of the very few people she cared to talk to which seemed few and far between right now.
She quietly made her way to the barn before parking in the lot but she stayed sitting in the car for a few minutes after she shut it off. She wasn't sure why but she felt like she needed to just sit in silence for a few minutes. Silence seemed to be something she now enjoyed compared to a couple weeks ago when she seemed to gravitate towards chaos. She had been pretty good lately about not getting herself into to trouble and the guy situation seemed to be calming down. She was by no means an innocent young girl. She wasn't really sure if it was Honor's little talk that changed things a bit or if it was because she kind of had something to focus on right now, but she figured it was a little of both. Recently she had won two races for the guy she was riding for so that gave her a little bit of direction, but there was a little something else too. She had met a guy at the barn, Aaron, who had Paint's and drove a Ford. She was hoping a little to run into him here but then again, she didn't want to and she had no clue why.
With a soft sigh, Maddie slid out of her black car and shut the door behind her. She made her way over to the party and passed some time by talking to some random people, some she knew, most she did not. She looked around a bit at all the unfamiliar faces and she realized that she really needed to get to know some more people because this was completely pathetic. She should know over half the people here and instead she knew maybe an eighth and there really weren't many people still here, but it was pretty late; about eleven pm or so.
She quietly moved her way from the party after a few minutes and headed towards Joker's stall. She figured that he'd keep her busy for a few minutes until she decided to go home. She flipped a couple lights on and wandered down the Joker's stall. She smiled when she leaned over his door and saw him laying down and looking up at her. "Hey big man," She said with a soft laugh as he nickered to her. She slipped into the stall and sat down at his head after pushing him over on his side. She ran her hands down his face and he closed his eyes before moving his head closer to her. She picked his head up and slid her legs under it before picking shavings out of his forelock and mane. "The last time we did this, you were two years old. You were so little... What happened?" She said with a soft laugh and he nibbled on her jeans a bit. He had really started to fill out now that he wasn't racing and she was rather impressed with how he was turning out.
There was a faint noise as the barn doors opened and then closed. Maddie looked down at Joker and rubbed his head a little, making his eyes close as he released a big sigh. She smiled before looking to the stall door as footsteps came towards them.
