Noah raised an eyebrow, slightly confused when Alex appeared shocked. She tilted her head slightly, leveling him with a questioning gaze. She could tell that he’d heard something else at first, just she wasn’t sure what he’d heard her say. Noah wasn’t the type to really let things go, either, and after a moment, and another sip of the cold water, she leaned forwards in her chair, eyes flickering momentarily to the two dogs. “What did you think I said?” She questioned, her tone light and simply curious.
Awaiting a reply, she let her eyes roam her surroundings again, once again looking around at the way the sitting room was decorated. It was decorated in a way that, to her, told a tale of mystery and perhaps solitude, but the man sitting before her seemed quite friendly and, if not exactly ‘open’, then talkative, to a degree. Maybe I’ve read too many mystery novels… She thought, returning her eyes to rest of the visage of her neighbor. Noah took a few moments to study Axel, not caring if he realized she was scrutinizing him. He was, she thought, rather cute… and she found herself enjoying hearing him talk. His accent, light as it was had a soothing quality to it.
In the floor, Maxwell struggled to get out from under the large paw across his back, to no avail. Though that’s not to say he really didn’t try. He did. He tried with all his might, but Jerry Lee’s paw proved to be his match, and several minutes later found the young bulldog pup flopping down, panting from the exertion.

"You'd probably laugh... I have selective hearing, and you didn't say what I thought you said, which um..." he seemed nervous suddenly. "I... I thought you said... well... I didn't hear all of what you said, I thought what you said was..." finally, he just blurted it out all in what seemed like one word "IthoughtyousaidIwasbeautiful..." Then covered his face with his hand, embarrassed. Muttering "Oi... I think I just made a total idiot of myself..."
Jerry Lee waited a few more minutes until he was certain the pup was calm before removing his paw from it's back.

Her eyebrows rose as she caught onto the nervousness, and she felt a small smirk playing at her lips, but tried to hide it. Noah wasn’t one to enjoy others embarrassment and discomfort, but that didn’t mean she didn’t think it was cute, in an odd way. “Selective hearing, huh?” She questioned, only to fall silent when he continued speaking.
It took her a few minutes to process what Axel said, as he’d blurted it out all in one breath, but when she finally figured it out, shock showed on her face for a split moment, jaw going slack and then a disbelieving laugh escaped from her mouth, her own way to try and hide her own embarrassment at his words. She clapped a hand to her mouth and stared at the man before her, eyes wide, until she got herself back under control.
“Oh, be glad my brothers weren’t here to hear you say that!” She finally exclaimed, laughing, but not meanly. It was more an uncomfortable laugh. Noah looked at Axel, her grin widening upon seeing just how embarrassed he was. She herself was a bit embarrassed, but not too much. Growing up with three older brothers had basically gotten her to where she could shake things off easily. Still though…
With a contemplating look, Noah gave Axel a smirk, “We-ell…” she drawled, “I suppose you are rather devilishly handsome.”

That red tinge across his face turned scarlet now. He was so cute. When she called him handsome, his eyes widened and he looked at her. "Uhh... did you actually say that or was that the selective hearing again...?" He asked her. OK, now he was just trying to be silly to try to lighten the tension a bit. Then again, there wasn't any real tension to begin with. Now he really felt like an idiot, plus her calling him that was not really helping matters much. He set his can of soda beside the vase of white, thornless roses on the coffee table in front of him. He really didn't want to choke on the soda in the event she said something that might surprise him in the middle of a drink.

So, he can get more embarrassed… The thought crossed her mind quickly and she gave him another grin, tilting her head to the side again, as if studying on her words. Noah knew she was flirting a little, but she couldn’t help it. For once, she had no older, overprotective brothers to content with and since she’d always been an open and confidant person… well, her natural flirty nature came through. Of course, it did help that her neighbor was really quite the cutie.
“I believe I did say what you thought I said.” She stated simply, her tone turning both innocent and mischievous at the same time. “What, you embarrassed?” She asked with a light smile playing across her face. There was humor in her eyes, yet it was a kind look, not teasing or bullying. “No one ever called you ‘cute’ before, Axel?” She asked. Noah wasn’t used to a guy acting so… well, like he was. It was interesting and caught her attention.

"I... uhhh...." he began, then finally he said "I've never been called 'handsome' that's for certain." He smiled nervously, how adorable. His eyes stared into hers for a moment, an intense moment or two of silence fell over him, before, he tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear that had fallen across her face, how sweet.
His eyes traveled over her body, taking in every detail, stopping at her eyes once again, he smiled gently. Slowly, he reached out, tilted her head to look up at him, and kissed her gently before he blinked and pulled away, now looking just plain ashamed. "I-I... I'm sorry..." he muttered softly.

Noah blinked when the stray stand of hair that had escaped her braid was tucked behind an ear. She didn’t much care about the lock of dyed blonde hair falling loose, it hadn’t bothered her. Her eyes widened slightly when Axel looked her over, and a hint of nervousness drifted through her mind, but before she had a chance to grasp it and make an excuse to leave or something, her host and neighbor had kissed her.
Surprisingly, the first thing that went through Noah’s mind wasn’t ‘ohmygawd’ or ‘he freakinkissedme’, it was ‘he’s so lucky my brothers aren’t here…’ followed by ‘he’s lucky I’m fairly reasonable. If I were my sister, he’d be dead.. When he pulled away, Noah’s mind caught up with her and she raised a hand to her lips, then lowered it, giving Axel a ‘look’ (yes, one of those looks where it’s a given someone is in a bit of trouble).
“You’re lucky my brothers didn’t see that.” She said lightly, though her tone was far from pleased. She wasn’t too angry, just a little annoyed. After-all, Noah wasn’t the type who often kissed people upon meeting them. “You’re also lucky that I’m not my little sister. She’d have you laid out wondering if you’re privates were still attached.” As she spoke, her voice rose slightly, to cover his if, and only if, he tried to say something else, as she wasn’t through talking and planned on setting Axel straight on a few things, such as if he wanted to kiss her, he’d better damned well be planning on taking her out. “I’m not sure what went through your mind, but I’m not the type who just meets and kisses and does whatever.” She said, voice sharp, “If you think I’m that type of woman, you can lose any idea of friendship or anything with me. However, I’ll forgive you, because you seem to be more than a little embarrassed, which tells me that what you did might have surprised you just as much as it surprised me. As such, I don’t think it’s necessary for me to lay you out cold, but if you think I should…” She left the threat hanging in the air.
Just by her tone alone, it was obvious that, for all her shorter stature and size, Noah could take care of herself. Growing up with older, rough-housing brothers had made her learn from an early age that if she couldn’t handle herself, then she’d get walked all over. “Now that that’s settled,” Noah’s tone took a lighter note, though it was still obvious by her eyes that she was annoyed. “I think you owe me for what you just did, don’t you?” This young woman was devious, and her tone took an oddly sweet and friendly note… the tone that women sometimes got right before they executed a swift deliverance of justice on a person… or, if could be the tone that was used to let a man know they were backed into a corner and unless their requests were given in to, there would be hell to pay. Noah wasn’t vindictive, though, and she figured what she asked/demanded could be something quite reasonable. As such, a sly smile came over her face and she leaned back in her chair, watching Axel’s expressions, for once enjoying the uncomfortable and embarrassed look on his face. “If you wanted a date, you could have just asked.”
