Not knowing what to expect from the party, Bambi pulled into the parking lot with a soft sigh. The lot was packed with a variety of cars ranging from beat-up Volkswagens to expensive Porches. Someone had decorated the exterior of the barn in yards of white Christmas lights and she stopped for a minute to admire the intricate pattern of them before getting out of the car. The main group of party goers was located just outside the barn, mingling around the gazebo with plates and cups in hand and the occasional laugh drifting over towards the cars. In her almost two years at Addison, Bambi had failed several times to create or maintain a friendship. Between working double shifts several times a week, taking care of her pets and attempting to find time for both Kaze's proper exercise and her own down time, her social life had suffered. She had made a couple of acquaintance but nothing that ended up sticking.
Stepping out of the truck she threw her keys on the passenger's seat, knowing that if anyone was going to steal cars they would most likely go for one that didn't need a bath. It had been a couple minutes since the sun had set but the ground was still warm under the soles of her ankle boots. She had dressed casual for the night, with a dark jeans, a slouchy grey t-shirt and an unbuttoned red flannel. Though the nights had significantly warmed up in the last couple weeks, she hoped the old flannel was enough to keep her warm through out the night.
Quietly she meandered over the main crowd, pushing her hands into her back pockets only to take them out a moment later to wave at a small group of girls she recognized from the paddocks. Bambi pulled softly at the ends of her loose braid. She was a couple months away from being able to legally drink at these events: usually she would try but the attendants and trainers at Crossfire farms were not any to mess with when it came to underage drinking, especially on their turf. Instead, she pour herself a cup of diet sprite and leaned against the refreshments table: hoping for something, or some one, to come along.----------
