Jason was leaning against the railing beside him, wearing that same grim expression that he had been wearing for a few weeks now, the reason for which he couldn’t manage to get out of him with any amount of gentle prodding, so he had just stopped trying to convince his younger brother to tell him what was going on, just putting it down to teenage angst or something, knowing that Jason would tell him if it was something really serious. He stifled a yawn behind one hand, turning his full attention back out to the track.
Eight stretched out alongside Destiny, another trainer at the farm’s horse that he didn’t really have all that much to do with, besides the fact that the horses often worked together since they had the same morning training schedule and it never hurt to run them alongside each other. They were only being breezed today, both bay horses running nearly side by side in an almost lazy manner, clearly not too upset by the fact their riders wouldn’t let them get up to speed, neither of them making any real effort to pull ahead of the other except for pulling a head or nose in front every now and again.
A couple more minutes at a slow gallop and they had reached the end of their workout length, and he watched as their riders slowed them down, putting them into a cool down lap, and he pushed himself off the rail, glancing over at Jason. “Bring Eight in when they’re finished and I’ll get Casey to put him on the hot walker for a bit, and I’ll take you to school,” he said, glancing down at the watch on his wrist, before looking back up at the horses out on the track. They had gone pretty much the whole way around the track again, and the riders were bringing them back to the gate leading into the mounting yard, both Thoroughbreds tossing their heads and bouncing a little, clearly invigorated from the work.
He walked up to the race barn as Jason went to collect Eight, to find Casey before he decided to go and hide or something before he got the chance to catch him, finding the middle Sharpe brother sitting in the racing lounge, as usual, not really doing anything productive. “Put Eight in the hot walker for me and put him away after, will you. And before you complain, you owe me plenty so you’ll do it,” he said, waiting for his brother to get up and follow him out into the barn, making sure that he took Eight off Jason, although he knew that there was little chance of Casey not actually doing it, because he knew he’d be in shit if he didn’t.
It didn’t take him long to drop Jason off at school, and he headed straight home afterwards, figuring that he’d catch a bit more sleep before he went back to the barn later in the evening, and he knew that Kody was meant to be getting back to Addison today so whether or not she’d want to see him once she had, he didn’t know. It wouldn’t hurt to get more sleep anyway, he could barely keep awake right now as it was. He didn’t even bother locking the front door once he’d walked in, mostly because he didn’t really think about doing it, setting an alarm on his phone so it would wake him in a few hours before stripping down to his boxers and flopping front side down into bed, dozing off almost as soon as his head hit the pillow.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #7a0000 solid 10px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]i don't care what they say Three weeks... it had been a long time since she'd been home. Her job really was rather inconsistent, and she almost never got to work nearby to where she lived. Sometimes her work called her to places over seas, sometimes just a state or two over, sometimes all the way across the country. She never knew where she'd be called to next, but she could pretty well guarantee no one would ever call her up because they were shooting a film in Addison Texas. That was part of why she had decided to move here... so that after a long several weeks of work, she could come home and get away from it all. Not that she didn't love her job as a stunt rider, that was half the reason she did it, because she loved it. A quarter of the reason she did it was because her dad didn't want her to, and the other quarter was because it paid well enough that she didn't really ever have to do without.
This particular job had called her up to the Oregon coast where she'd been selected to be a double for an actress playing a young daring rogue of a princess who disguised herself in her armor and would ride out in battles. How disgustingly cliche, but it was work, so she really couldn't complain. Most people never really thought about the abuse that stunt doubles endured in these sorts of films. For the most part everyone always imagined stunt doubles as men jumping out of buildings onto giant foam pillows that felt like you were lying in clouds. They rarely considered the people who got up on a horse to get bashed in the head and body by lances or fall off of horses and get trampled or any number of other things that actors couldn't be bothered to do in case they broke a nail or something. Kody was definitely evidence of the injuries a riding double could receive.
The bruise on her side seemed to only be growing as she got nearer and nearer to Crossfire. She was so tired, and her ribs hurt like hell, but she needed to get her horse home and comfortable before she could go take care of herself... besides, the past week she'd been dying to take a roll in the hay with her... well, she wouldn't really call him her boyfriend... whether or not he called her his girlfriend was up to him... but she thought of him as more of an ongoing casual encounter... or something like that. Oh sure, most people would say that an "ongoing casual encounter" was what went on between a boyfriend and girlfriend, but Kody was determined to not make it seem like she was attached at all to the male figure. Ash was a plenty nice guy, and definitely attractive enough to be object of any girl's desire, but Kody wasn't just any girl.
After getting her horse settled into his stall and unhooking the trailer from her truck, she headed out... but not for her apartment. For whatever reason, lately her hormones had been raging and telling her that she needed to get down and dirty, and if there was one place she absolutely knew she could get it, it was at the Sharpe household. If Ash's brothers happened to be home, they could just get the hell over it, because Kody wasn't courteous to anyone about anything, especially when it came to getting what she wanted. When she pulled up she could see that Ash appeared to be the only one home, judging from the vehicles in the driveway. She parked her truck and headed up for the house, not bothering to knock or ring the doorbell, she never did, and there was really no point.
The house was especially quiet, but she didn't hesitate after kicking her muddy boots off at the door to head in the direction of Ash's bedroom where she was likely to find him. Dakota paused in the doorway briefly when she saw him pretty well passed out on the bed, not because she didn't want to disturb him, but because she was debating with herself whether she should strip down to her lingerie to put them on an even playing field or not. She decided against it, knowing that if he saw the bruise that probably ran about the length of her side and wrapped around to her back just slightly, he would probably insist that she go see a doctor, and right now the last thing she wanted was to go see a doctor. So instead she just took her jacket off and let it fall to the floor before closing the door behind her.
That done she walked over to the bed and hopped up onto it so she was straddling him and leaned down to purr in his ear "Miss me?" Kody wasn't exactly the type to go around seducing men, normally she just told them straight up what she wanted and was then done with them. She'd been with Ash long enough now, though that she let herself be not quite so abrasive. After all, he was good in bed, and she didn't want to scare him away, so she could give him a slight break every now and again. And anyway, it wasn't like he didn't get in on the good end of this deal. It was just casual... no strings attached... none whatsoever, and she'd keep it that way if she could.

He didn’t even hear it open in his sleep, or hear her walking up the hallway to his room... she really could have been anybody and he probably wouldn’t have noticed until it was really too late. Although, if someone that wasn’t meant to be in his house happened to be in there, they probably wouldn’t have had any intention of waking him, since he wasn’t exactly the most harmless looking guy, although he really wasn’t a violent person, for the most part.
He did wake up a bit, however, when he felt a leg sliding over his back, and the shift in weight on the bed, although he didn’t open his eyes, or move, or react, until she had leaned forward to talk into his ear, letting a grin spread across his face when he heard Kody’s familiar voice. He wasn’t exactly sure what this thing he had going on with her was... and he wasn’t quite sure about what she thought it was either. Honestly, this was the longest kind of relationship he’d had with a woman in a long while now... even if it was just meant to be casual. And despite whatever this was, he actually liked her... she didn’t take any shit from him, or his brothers, for that matter, and was independent to the point of it being frustrating sometimes but he thought that was part of the appeal. It was a problem he’d had with previous relationships, the fact that he had other things to worry about rather than paying all of his attention to his girlfriend... it was nice to be needed but when it was to the point of being overbearing...
He really wasted no time, not answering, just twisting one large, strong arm around his back to hook around her waist, flipping her carefully over onto her back on the bed, pulling her underneath him and kissing her before she could say anything else, or form any protests she might have about it... although he had the feeling that it really was what she wanted to begin with so there wouldn’t be too much protesting about the situation. It was only about when he had gotten started on removing her shirt that he really noticed anything, to engrossed in... other things... to have noticed before, the edge of the bruise on her side catching his attention.
He stopped what he was doing, shifting himself so that the upper part of his body wasn’t putting any weight on her, but basically pinning Kody underneath him so that she wouldn’t have the chance to move away before he could inspect it further, sliding the fabric of her shirt up so he could see all of it, studying it for a few moments before looking up at her face, eyebrows raised slightly. “What happened to you?” he asked.
It wasn’t like he didn’t know what she did for a living, and that he didn’t know that it was dangerous and came with plenty of injuries, but he hadn’t seen anything near to that extent on her before today. It looked pretty painful as well, and the last thing he wanted to do was hurt or injure her any further than she already was, he was well aware that he was a large man and he hardly thought that would be healthy for it, especially if she had broken ribs or something.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #7a0000 solid 10px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]i don't care what they say Kody simply smirked as she felt Ash's strong arm wrap around her body and flip her over onto her back and underneath of him. She winced ever so slightly at the very brief pressure on her side, but hastily replaced the grimace with the smirk once again. It had been three weeks, she didn't want some stupid bruise to interrupt her now. Her fingers slipped gingerly beneath Ash's shirt, running up over his abs and to his chest as she kissed him. She wasn't sure if he'd missed her, but she had certainly missed this. By all standards, Ashton was the perfect man. Tall, dark, handsome... a body to die for... what more could a girl ask for? As far as Kody's standards went, that was all that mattered. Sure, he had a great personality too, but she was convinced that that part didn't matter.
Her expression changed, however, when he suddenly stopped midway through pulling her shirt off and pinned her beneath him, inspecting the ugly bruise on her side. She had hoped that maybe with three weeks apart that he would be equally as excited as she was and wouldn't even notice it... at least until afterwards. Apparently she wasn't so lucky. From the way he was looking at it, she had a feeling that he was going to sort of make a big deal out of it. If it were up to her, nothing would change because of it. It was just a bruise for crying out loud, it wasn't like she'd severed her hand off or something. She sighed and scowled slightly as Ash took his time inspecting the bruise, knowing it was futile to try to cover it up and not let him see it now.
"It's nothing. Just a bruise." She said as explanation, figuring that she might as well just tell him as there was really no point in trying to make something up. "Mayhem slipped in the mud and fell on me." She was keeping her fingers crossed that he would accept that explanation and that she was alright and just carry on. She didn't like being fussed over. "Tough as nails" didn't even begin to explain how Kody dealt with her injuries. Sure, if she was bleeding everywhere or had an obviously broken bone like an arm or something she'd go to the doctor, but when everything seemed to be in its place, she saw no reason to go wracking up the doctor's bills. "I'm fine." She added for extra emphasis, moving to prop herself up on her elbows. Unfortunately for her, doing so sent a shock of pain through her midsection from her bruised ribs which caused her to grimace just enough to be noticeable through the scowl. She truly hoped he hadn't noticed, but already her luck today when it came to Ash not noticing things was non-existent.

If he had listened to that line some days Casey had come home half beat up over the years his younger brother probably would have been dead by now, or suffering serious brain damage... although the latter was certainly still debatable. The number of times he’d dragged him off to the hospital to find out that he had a major concussion or something broken that needed immediate fixing, he had lost track of. He certainly couldn’t count the occasions on one hand anymore.
“It doesn’t look like nothing to me,” he answered, figuring that would probably only annoy her more but oh well, half of the things he said to her seemed to annoy her in some way... but she kept coming back so he really couldn’t have stuffed up that badly. He let her shirt fall back down to cover the offending bruise, keeping her pinned as he listened to her continue to talk. Okay, her horse fell on her, he could deal with that... it happened, and he’d probably seen a lot worse out on the track than what had problem happened with her and Mayhem. That, however, did not do anything to stop him worrying about the giant ugly looking bruise on her side.
He shook his head slightly, sighing a little at her adamant claim of ‘it’s fine’. “And what if you’ve cracked a rib or something? I’d rather not risk making it worse or a punctured lung or something for sex,” he said pointedly, rolling off her, sitting on the edge of his bed for a few moments before standing up, searching for the jeans that he had discarded earlier. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to... he really, really did... but he also really didn’t want to make it any worse if she had really hurt herself and it was more than ‘just a bruise’ like she reckoned it was. If he knew her enough by know, he knew her well enough to guess that she was probably too stubborn to go to a doctor unless something was so obviously wrong it was staring her in the face... like a protruding bone or something... so she probably would have just brushed this one off.
“That being said... you’re not getting any unless a doctor says it’s okay,” he said, pulling on the jeans that he’d found now, glancing over at her with a slightly stubborn expression on his face.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #7a0000 solid 10px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]i don't care what they say If Ashton were a slightly less manly sort of man, Kody would have just wrestled her way out of his grasp, but as it were, Ash was definitely no pansy who would just roll over and play dead when she snapped at him. He was probably the most formidable man Kody had ever been with. Normally she strategically picked men who she wouldn't have to put that much effort into emasculating if she saw fit to do so, but for whatever reason, Ash was just irresistible to her. She told herself every time that this would be the last time... then afterwards she found herself thinking "Well I suppose one more time wouldn't hurt anything." So now she'd had gone for "one more time" and he had her pinned to the bed and was telling her that he didn't think it was just a bruise.
She scowled up at him as he said he wasn't willing to risk making it worse. "Maybe you're not but I am." She said, almost whining as he slid off of her and started searching for his jeans. As far as Kody was concerned at this point with her hormones raging like they were puncturing a lung was totally worth it. Right now she would probably be willing to kill someone if it meant he would stop being such a worry wart and just give her what she needed. She was sure she was fine, and even if she wasn't, she was sure she wouldn't be any less fine if they had sex. Kody was definitely not used to not getting what she wanted whenever she wanted it, especially when it came to this sort of thing, and not getting it was making her feel a slight bit like being a raging bitch (or at least more of one than usual) and ripping his head off. That, however, would definitely not get her what she wanted.
"Fine." she snarled when he said that she wasn't getting any until a doctor had okayed it, "but when he tells you exactly what I've been telling you and we wasted all this time for nothing, I'm going to kick your ass." He probably knew her well enough to know that she would probably make good on that promise if she turned out to be right. For such a tiny little woman, Kody was definitely a very angry little thing, and she definitely wasn't afraid of jumping in the ring with someone twice her size. If ever a woman could be considered a ball buster, Kody was it. "And you're driving. I'm so sick of being behind the wheel that I swear I'll run down some granny pushing a baby stroller if I have to drive for 10 more seconds." Needless to say, she wasn't the most sensitive creature on the face of the earth either.

At least she hadn’t gotten really shitty when he’d said no to it, he’d half been expecting her to order him under pain of death or something to give her what she wanted, but she hadn’t. He finished putting his jeans on, buttoning them up and turning to face her again, waiting to see what her response to what his ultimatum was going to be.
He was rather pleased with himself when she said that she would go, moving off to find the shirt he’d also discarded... trying to figure out how he managed to lose clothes he’d only taken off and flung away a few hours ago so quickly... pulling it on as she told him that she would kick his ass if the doctor said that nothing was wrong with her. “I think we have a deal then,” he answered, chuckling slightly... figuring that instead of ass kicking she’d probably be a little more focused on other things by that point. Hopefully she would be, anyway.
His chuckle turned more into a laugh when she said that he was driving, walking out of his bedroom and into the living room area of the house, trying to remember exactly where he had dropped his keys when he had gotten home after the track that morning. “Fair enough... I’m sure all the stroller pushing grannies of Addison will be thanking me for it,” he answered, finding them sitting on the kitchen bench next to his phone and wallet, thankfully, because now he had less to find. He wasn’t a complete slob, really, but when it was just him and Jason there, as long as the house was decent enough for the most part it didn’t really bother them too much. It wasn’t like they had company over that often either, Jason had brought his friends over a couple of times before but lately he hadn’t seemed to be hanging around any of them, which worried him a bit but he didn’t want to pry too much into his teenage brother’s life... and if something was really wrong he was sure he would have told him about it... or at least he hoped he would tell him if he was in trouble or not.
“Ready to go?” he asked, turning around to see where she was, pocketing his phone and wallet, swinging his car keys idly in one hand by the keychain.

Dakota scowled darkly at Ash as he walked out of the room. Men could be so damn clueless at times... and weren't they the ones who were supposed to be driven first and foremost by sex? Was it any wonder why she had never been in a stable relationship? Men drove her absolutely crazy, and if she could, she would just live without them... but there were certain things that she simply couldn't live without, and that meant she simply couldn't live without me. That was why she normally just skipped around from one to the next, but for whatever reason, Ashton had managed to get her addicted and she just kept going back to him. She told herself that it was because of the lack of selection in Addison, but even she knew that wasn't true.
She walked out of the room and pulled her shoes on, giving him what could easily qualify as the look of death when he asked if she was ready to go. "Jackass." She muttered, pulling the door open and walking out. Now that she was made all too aware that she wasn't getting any for a while, she was beginning to realize just exactly how much it was hurting. She'd been so focused on getting what she wanted that she'd put everything else on the back burner, and Ash just had to go and ruin that. Nevertheless, Kody was as stubborn as they came, and she wasn't going to let Ash see that she was hurting, so she just maintained her scowl as she pulled herself up into his truck, cringing inwardly, but not letting it show. She wasn't about to give him the satisfaction of being right. Not this time.
Once they reached the doctor's office, of course, they had to wait pretty much for forever, and Kody wasn't about to let him hear the end of her bitching about all the wasted time, and everyone else there got to hear an earful as well. Some looked like they were tempted to say something, but none of them apparently had the courage, which was probably a good thing. Kody was already angry, there was no need to make things worse... besides, if she wasn't terrifying enough, Ash probably had enough presence to make anybody think twice about confronting his girlfriend, even if she was being a heinous bitch towards him. She couldn't help it, really... she was naturally more of a "spitfire" than most people, and all the raging hormones didn't help with that whole thing at all.
Finally once they were taken back to a room, there was a bit more waiting around, convincing an obnoxiously nosey nurse that her boyfriend had not done this to her and, a few x-rays and various tests, and more waiting. When the doctor returned with the x-rays, the first thing he said was "Well, the good news is that you're going to be fine..." but before he could continue, Kody cut him off, glowering at Ash, "I told you I was perfectly fine." She snarled at him, before being corrected by the doctor. "No, I said you're going to be fine. You have a fractured rib, but it's not too serious, so just don't do anything strenuous, including riding, for about four weeks, and absolutely no throwing yourself off of your horse, which you really shouldn't be doing anyway considering your pregnancy. Even at these most early stages..."
Before he could continue he was cut off by Kody, "My what?" She asked, eyebrows raised. "Oh..." The doctor said, suddenly realizing that they were evidently not aware of that little tidbit of information, "well, even better news, you're about four weeks pregnant! Congratulations!" More than likely, he expected her to be jubilant and that typical first time parents look, but he got quite the opposite. She spun in her chair to face Ash, looking about like she was probably going to murder him with her bare hands, "ASHTON!" she snarled angrily as if she'd had no part in this, "You got me pregnant?!" This was not how she had pictured this going down. All she wanted was to come back to Addison, get her long over-due sex fix, and go home... alone... with no boyfriend, and certainly not with a fetus. Oh, the woes of being a woman.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #666666 solid 10px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]After she had called him a jackass as she went to the front door, he almost laughed, making sure her back was turned to him before he grinned, locking the front door behind before following her the rest of the way to his car, making sure that the grin was well and truly wiped from his face before she caught sight of it, fairly sure that she would probably hit him if she saw him laughing at her reaction. He got into the car, turned the ignition on and backed out of the driveway, heading straight towards the doctor’s, just like he said he would.
Pretty much the entire time waiting at the doctor’s office was spend listening to Kody rant about having to be here, which he just ended up sitting through, listening quietly to whatever she had to say about the whole thing, occasionally throwing in a response here and there, ignoring the stares from other people in the waiting room with them. If anyone had a problem with it, they surely didn’t dare to say anything, and he honestly couldn’t tell whether they were more afraid of Kody or him. At the rate Kody was going right now anyway, he was willing to bet they really didn’t want to have their heads bitten off by her for asking her to be quiet. They eventually got taken in to a room, a little peeved over the fact that the nurse that took them in decided that he might have given her the bruised ribs, because apparently all large, particularly well-muscled men were like that… which he certainly wasn’t… and then there was all the tests to sit through, and he just found himself hoping that it was all over soon, before Kody really did kill everyone in the office because it was taking so long.
Finally, when even his own patience was starting to wear thin with the whole waiting process, the doctor came back, starting to explain what was going on before Kody cut him off when he said that she was going to be fine. He didn’t get the chance to say anything back before the doctor started speaking again, which was probably a good thing anyway, or else she’d probably start yelling at him some more. So he turned his attention back to the other man, not even really registering that he had said that she was pregnant at first.
He kind of stared at the doctor for a few moments, stunned into silence as the doctor realised that that fact hadn’t been something neither of them had known about, really wondering if he had heard wrong, until Kody’s angry voice cut through the air and he turned to look at her with the same stunned expression that he had just been giving the doctor. “Well I didn’t do it on purpose… and I certainly didn’t hear you complaining at the time,” he said after a moment, really just saying the first thing that popped into his head, even if they hadn’t exactly been the wisest of words.
A baby? This was certainly something he hadn’t even really thought about all that much before. Now he was definitely going to have to start thinking about it… then again he had no idea how Kody would want to handle this.

Kody was just about as close to being emotional as she had been in a long, long time. She hadn't planned on having kids, she wasn't even sure if she wanted kids, and she certainly wasn't entirely sure if she wanted to be that tied down to one person. Not that having children meant that she had to settle down and stay with Ash, but she certainly wasn't about to be a single mother. She had a life to live, and she didn't want to spend the next 18 years of her life not being able to do anything because she had to stay home and take care of a kid. Her job required that she travel, a lot... and she couldn't do that if she had a child to take care of with no one else there to step in when she had to be gone. There was always the option of getting rid of it, but she wasn't sure she wanted to take that route either.
Considering where she was, currently, being emotional was going to translate into being angry. Whenever she was around people she never let them see any side of her except the angry and condescending bitch side. Of course, that was generally how she was all the time, even when she was alone, but every once in a while the more human side of her came out. Now, was not one of those times. She realized that this completely explained her raging hormonal desire for sex, but she would much rather have just needed a fix than to need to have a baby. This complicated so many things in so many ways. She would have liked to just rewind and go back to the bedroom and tell him that if he didn't take his damn pants off and give her what she wanted she was going to kill him and bury his body in the back yard and just not know until it became obvious enough to recognize on her own... so she could figure out what she wanted to do before he found out... but it was too late for that now.
As soon as Ash said what he did, she basically turned into a fire breathing dragon from hell. "Oh don't you even dare!" She snapped at him, "Haven't you ever heard of a goddamned condom??" In retrospective, she wasn't really angry at Ash. She knew she was just as much at fault for this as he was, considering it did take two to tango... and make a baby... but she was sort of in a bit of shock with this news, and so much stuff was running through her mind that she didn't know how to handle it except to lash out at someone, and she couldn't very well be mad at the doctor, considering he'd had no part in getting her pregnant. She would never admit that she wasn't actually mad at Ash, though. That would be admitting that she shouldn't have lashed out at him, and that would be admitting that she was wrong... and she definitely couldn't have that.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #666666 solid 10px; width: 399px; padding: 5 5 5 5px;]maybe we're long past saving but i'm gonna give you one last try He hadn’t really thought about having kids before, mostly because he had never really been in any sort of relationship for long enough to even consider having a baby with any of the women he’d been with. And especially since he didn’t even know exactly what he and Kody were… that made it slightly more complicated. Not that he felt like he had to be with someone to have a baby with them, but he did want to be with her, but if that wasn’t what she wanted, then… well, there wasn’t much he could do about that. And he thought that he was at least well equipped to look after a kid… he looked after Jason and Anna now, didn’t he? And it wasn’t like he didn’t have the money, and unlike Casey he definitely didn’t take after their father. But he didn’t even know what Kody wanted to do yet so he figured he should probably find that out before he got ahead of himself.
He frowned a little when she snapped at him, but didn’t say anything back in answer, since he probably slightly deserved it for how he had reacted only a few moments ago, he should have known better than saying something like that. But he was in about just as much shock as she was right now, it wasn’t like he had been expecting her to be pregnant, of course. But he realised, somehow, that he had already kind of decided personally that he wanted this baby… but if she didn’t then there wasn’t anything he could do about it, he certainly couldn’t force her into doing anything that she didn’t want to do… he knew he’d never be able to get her to do anything she didn’t want to even if it wasn’t something as big as this.
He waited a few moments before saying anything, taking a moment to collect his own thoughts and hopefully giving her enough time to calm down a little… although the chances of that were probably not likely… before looking at her again. “Do you know what you want to do?” he asked, figuring that was probably the big question here, and he was just going to have to run with whatever she ended up deciding.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #812309 solid 10px; width: 450px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]Remind me who I really am tagged Ish and Ash wordsidek musemreh notesangry pregnant kody is pregnant and angry creditstemplate by irish! Dakota really didn't know how to answer Ash's question. There were so many conflicting reasons for each option. Had she ever thought about having kids? No, not really. Was she totally opposed to the idea? Not at all. Was she ready for kids? There was no way to know. All she did know was that this was going to change her life completely. She was so used to being independent and not having to answer to anyone for anything. If she wanted to go get shitfaced drunk, than she could go right ahead. She made her living by throwing herself off of horses at high speeds. She couldn't do either of those things while she was pregnant, and probably not for quite a while after having the baby. Was she ready to let herself depend on someone else for everything, was she ready to take on the responsibility of raising a child? She wouldn't admit it, but the idea of all of that frightened her.
At a loss for words for the first time in a long, long time, she just shook her head, feeling a bit numb. This was all too sudden. She would much rather have found this out on her own where she could make up her mind on her own time without feeling pressured. She knew Ash wasn't pressing the matter really, but still, to her it felt like she was obligated to give him an answer immediately, after all, this kid was just as much his as it was hers, and he should get to have a say in what happened to it. "How the hell should I know that?" she asked a little harshly when she realized that just shaking her head no came off a little too... well, not as abrasive as she normally would have been, and she didn't want him to think that this was going to turn her into a sobbing puddle of female hormones. That was not going to happen... even if inwardly she felt like a sobbing puddle of female hormones.
"Let's just go." She muttered, getting up from the chair she'd been sitting in. She didn't even care if the doctor had planned to give her instructions regarding her injury. Whatever he was going to say would be irrelevant now. If she decided to keep this kid she couldn't ride anyway so it was pointless for him to tell her to not ride. She could have done with the pain medication he was likely to prescribe, but she was pretty sure taking things like that was frowned upon when you were pregnant too, so that didn't matter either. Kody didn't even wait for Ash to respond before she headed for the door. Anyone who tried to stop her was likely to have their head bitten off. Right now she'd lost all the desire to do anything except go home, be alone, and cry until she had come to terms with her situation and could come to a logical conclusion on what she was going to do; and when Kody made conclusions like that, there was no changing her mind.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #666666 solid 10px; width: 399px; padding: 5 5 5 5px;]maybe we're long past saving but i'm gonna give you one last try Okay, maybe asking her what she wanted to do had been a little premature after all, although he had been expecting a little more of a response than a shake of her head. Wait, no, there she went, snapping at him again. He just sighed, figuring that it was probably best if he just kept his mouth shut now, not wanting to make things worse, even if he thought that figuring out what was going to happen was better off done sooner rather than later. Ideally this would have been a bit better planned out than it was, but he had learned long ago that life rarely ever went like that… at least he wasn’t likely to turn out like his own father so that was a good thing.
“Alright,” he said, just nodding and following her out of the room when she stood up, trying to figure out how his concern has so quickly changed from her bruised ribs to the fact that they now knew that she was pregnant. Maybe it would have been a bit easier to take if she had found out for herself, or had suspected, instead of having it sprung on them so unexpectedly by a doctor when they hadn’t even gone there to be told that.
The car ride back to his house was quiet… well, he hadn’t been expecting them to talk a whole lot during it, all things considering, but the silence was almost suffocating really… and it made him glad that Addison wasn’t a particularly large town, so it really didn’t take all that long to drive back to his house from the hospital. He pulled into the driveway, killing the engine and leaning back heavily in his seat, not getting out of the car just yet, figuring that she probably wouldn’t be staying here… well, if she did hang around right now he’d be surprised. “I just want you to know that… whatever you decide to do… I’ll be okay with it… I mean, it’s your decision to make and I just want you to do what’s best… fuck, none of this is coming out right,” he said, looking over at her in the passenger’s seat, wishing in that situation that his way with words would actually bother working this time… he could talk his way out of trouble but in this sort of situation he just didn’t know what to say… he’d just said it as best as he possibly could. jess | 413 | american honey - lady antebellum | aww he's trying |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #812309 solid 10px; width: 450px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]Remind me who I really am tagged Ish and Ash wordsidek musemreh notesangry pregnant kody is pregnant and angry creditstemplate by irish! The silence on the way back to Ash's house from the hospital was deafening and seemed to last forever. That, though, was no indication of what was going through Kody's mind. She was still having a hard time wrapping her head around the idea that she was pregnant and that she now needed to make a decision between her career and the life of another person. She could already hear what her father's response would be if she told him. He'd tell her to get rid of it, that a child was a liability and that she needed to establish herself in a "real career" before she took on the responsibility of a child. No one would take her seriously if she came in to apply for a job with a baby on her hip and had to explain that she'd had a child out of wedlock and was now a single mother trying to raise a baby and balance her career.
Kody had always felt like her dad had resented her, as if she were the reason for her mother leaving. The blame was really on him and his obsessive need to control people. That was what drove her away, but he couldn't possibly take the blame, that would mean he had done something wrong, and everyone knew that Mr. James in all his high and mighty glory could never do anything wrong. Dakota had spent much of her younger years doing everything she could to thwart his attempts at making her into a perfect little princess who fit in with his high society crowd. She would turn up to events in a dirty t-shirt and torn jeans (which got many a nanny fired), she would go screaming through the house like a hooligan when he had important people over, and did everything unmannerly that she could possibly think of. It was mostly for that reason that, as they pulled into the driveway and he started talking, she made up her mind.
She had missed most of the first half of what he'd said due to being drowned out by her dad's voice in her head, but it wasn't hard to figured out the gist of it from the second half. "Whatever." She muttered in typical Kody fashion, "I'm keeping it. If you don't want it thats fine. I wont ask for child support, I'll do just fine on my own." Honestly, she wasn't really expecting him to really take an interest in wanting to raise the child. He was a nice enough guy but for some reason he just didn't strike her as someone who would want kids at this point in his life... but then again, who was she to talk? She was probably voted "least likely to have kids EVER" in her high school yearbook. She was quite used to the "love 'em and leave 'em" sort of guy, since that was what she normally went for. So why should she expect any different from Ashton?
