[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #d96a70 solid 10px; width: 399px; padding: 5 5 5 5px;]there's one thing i still know it's always summer in my heart & in my soul Penny stuffed her hands into the pockets of her jacket as she walked the streets of Brentwood, occasionally glancing at the houses as she passed, but she really didn’t pay them all that much attention. Personally she didn’t know why someone would need a house that large… well, her family needed a large house to fit them all in but not something that was extravagantly so. But she guessed that she hadn’t been brought up in that sort of environment, hence probably why she just didn’t get it. Not that she was judgemental of people who lived here either… like James, he was one of her friends and he lived in the estate… and now Dylan did too.
She couldn’t help but feel worried about him… she had heard about his mother, and knew that he had dropped out of school… and everything else that had gone on really wouldn’t have helped it all, such as Zach and Melissa leaving Addison. She had lost Zach and Meli too but compared to what he was going through right now that was really nothing at all… although she definitely knew how he probably felt about Melissa, since she felt the same about Zach.
Thankfully the address she had wasn’t too far from where James’ house was, or she was fairly sure that she would have ended up getting lost trying to find her way through the place, although at least she would have known her way back to James’ house to ask him where she was meant to be going. Double checking to make sure that she had gotten the right house, she made her way up to the front door, pulling one hand out of her pocket to ring the doorbell before quickly returning it to where it had been to keep it out of the cold. Maybe she should have called him first or something, to make sure that it was alright to come and see him, or make sure that he was actually in… well, the worst that could happen was that she couldn’t, or he wasn’t there, and then she could try the texting or calling option.

The teen awoke with an apocalyptic headache, it felt as though someone had let off a few dozen fireworks in his head for a laugh. It was painful and movement made it all the worse. But he had to move, because someone was ringing the God damn doorbell. Jamie had told him that he was expecting a parcel that day and that if he missed it then he would damn well kick his arse and take away his alcohol. Normally Dylan wouldn't have listened and would have told him to go fuck himself. But he didn't want to risk losing his alcohol privileges over it and so instead forced himself out of bed and onto his unsteady legs. And they really were unsteady, he wobbled for a moment before catching his balance. His head spun and he was barely able to open his eyes but he started towards the main area of the house anyway. He thanked God Jamie had let him have the downstairs bedroom, it saved him potentially dying by falling down the stairs.
Finally he shuffled his way to the door and pulled it open, squinting as the light from outside hit his eyes. He'd grown far too used to the darkness. Dylan was about to mumble something about where he needed to sign but then he realised, this was no courier. It was Penny. He hadn't seen her in a while sure but he still knew the blonde Australian when he saw her. Unfortunately seeing her also meant a wave of memories came rushing back, mainly ones of him, Penny, Zach and Melissa, mostly good but some not so good. Still he'd trade all of those just to have a couple more good days with all of them, to be able to say goodbye properly. But here she was, stood on his, well Jamie's doorstep (he still didn't count this house as his own just somewhere where he currently inhabited).
"Penny? Um...come in." He said after a moment of gawping/squinting at her. He stood aside, casting a glance downwards to his clothing, or lack thereof. He was only in his boxers and although he hadn't mind answering the door to a complete stranger in just his underwear he felt a little more exposed now that he realised it wasn't a complete stranger, but Penny. He couldn't recall if she had seen him almost naked before, but hopefully he'd find a pair of sweats in the living room or something. He closed the door behind her, rubbing his head as he did so, the fireworks still not really letting up. Painkillers were needed, either that or more alcohol. "Come through." He muttered, although he hadn't really meant to mutter, it just came out that way he had kind of been speaking in the exact same tone for a few months now and it was hard to break the habit.
He plonked himself down on the sofa once they got into the room, guessing that Penny would do the same. The house was tidy, but he suspected Jamie had a cleaner although he didn't know for sure as he had never been awake at the right time to see her. Or him. He knew Jamie didn't do all this himself that was for sure. He didn't say anything else to Penny, just watched her, waiting for her to say something which could have been deemed unnerving if he wasn't rubbing his forehead every five seconds.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #66A3D2 solid 10px; width: 399px; padding: 5 5 5 5px;]i wish that i could forget you & wake up with amnesia The time ticked by after she had rang the doorbell, and she was starting to think that maybe nobody was home, that maybe she should go and see James or something for a bit before she headed home. In fact, she had started to turn to walk away from the house again when a slight noise on the other side of the door caught her attention, turning back just as she heard the doorknob being turned. Her eyes fell on Dylan, blinking as she realised that he was only in his underwear… then again it wasn’t like they hadn’t all gone swimming with each other when everyone had still been here anyway, so she had seen him in about as much clothing before. She just hadn’t been expecting it, that was all.
He seemed to be in slight disbelief as he stared at her for a few moments, but then again she was fairly sure that he hadn’t been expecting to see her there, considering she hadn’t let him know that she was actually coming to see him. “Hey,” she answered, giving him a tentative smile before stepping inside the house after he stepped back to let her in, pulling her hands out of the pockets of her jacket as she did so.
She followed him through to the living room when he told her to follow him, studying the back of his turned head as he walked ahead of her, frowning a little. She had seen her brothers the morning after a night of drinking enough times by now to know that he was hung over… or just really, really tired, but she was going with the former option of the two, considering the way he had kept wincing when she could still see his face, which she was going to put down to the headache that would have come with it. But she didn’t comment on it, just sitting down on the couch next to him after he’d flopped down onto it, looking over at him as he just stared at her. Maybe she should have come to see him sooner, but to be fair she had only just found out where he was living.
“I’m sorry, I probably should have called before I came over…” she said, when it became obvious that he was waiting for her to speak, feeling possibly for the first time since she had known him, awkward around her friend. But she’d missed him, even despite the fact that seeing him again brought back a tonne of memories of how everything had been before it had all blown up.

[/style][style=width:360px; background: #343333] [style=font-family: georgia; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 2px; color: #ffffff; text-align: center;]UNDER A PALE BLUE SKY you never felt so cold, another sleepless night, how could you ever let go God he was being a royal prick right now, he knew that but he couldn't help it. There was not one fibre in his being that wanted to be nice, not to anybody, well anybody who wasn't Maddy. Hell, he wasn't even nice to the guy who had saved him from foster care and had taken him into his home, his very nice home. Which Dylan went on to treat like a hotel. He really could be an arse when he wanted to be and right now, he wanted to be. He didn't have anything against Penny, or her coming round but at the moment he wasn't himself, he wasn't the normal Dylan. Which was why he responded in the way that he did. "Yeah." He said bluntly, not that he would have answered the phone even if she had.
Dylan was really, really stuck at the moment. He'd dropped out of school which was probably inevitable anyway, he had been failing everything, well apart from French. But he only tended to speak that when he was talking to Maddy, or telling her off for something because she could understand too. And it wasn't like anybody else in Addison could speak French fluently. He could probably use it, put himself to some use as a translator or something but at the present time he couldn't be bothered doing anything for himself. Other than getting himself a drink occasionally.
He just kept staring at her, not really waiting for her to do anything but he was just unsure of what to say. What was he meant to talk about? Just act like nothing had happened and go back to being cheery, funny Dylan? That wasn't going to happen and she had probably noticed that by now. "So...how have you been?" It was probably a stupid question, but it would be worse if she asked the same thing back. As it was quite obvious that he hadn't been well. She seemed okay though, better off than him anyway, he knew she had liked Zach, more than liked even. He knew how it felt to lose someone you loved, but he didn't want to talk about that not really. It hurt far too much. If she did want to talk about it, he was going to need another drink.

We’re not always lucky enough to find [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 0b0b0b; width: 399px; padding: 5 5 5 5px; border-bottom: 12px solid #66A3D2; border-top: 12px solid #66A3D2;] what we want in the dirt and the dust He wasn’t being his usual self. Not that Penny had been expecting him to act like normal Dylan to begin with, not with what she knew he had been through lately. First he had lost his dad, which she knew had been hard enough for him, and now his mother… and now he was living here and he’d dropped out of school, and Meli had moved away, and she could only guess that none of it was sitting well with him. So in all honestly she didn’t blame him when he was acting like a bit of an asshole, and she wasn’t going to comment on it either. So she just nodded a little when he just replied with a blunt ‘yeah’ when she said that she probably should have called.
“I’ve been okay,” she answered, reaching up to tuck her hair behind her ears and out of her face, glancing over at him again. Asking him how he had been almost seemed like it would be asking a redundant question, she only had to look at him now and look at how he was acting to know that he hadn’t been doing so well, and if she knew Dylan like she thought she did, he probably wouldn’t really want her to ask. Saying that she was okay herself wasn’t a completely honest answer but she knew that she would be okay, so it just seemed easier to answer with that now.
But she had to say something to him, it was just a matter of how to word it all without making it seem like she was forcing him into anything.
After a few moments of thought, she glanced at him again, not looking away as she started speaking. “I just came over to say hi, really…” she started, letting out a tiny sigh, still a little unsure how to go about it all. “And just to say… that you know where to find me if you need anything. Not to say that you have to talk to me about anything, you know… just that I’m there if you need anything,” she finished, it was the best she could come up with now that didn’t seem like she was being too pushy or anything. How he would take it was still to be seen, however, she just hoped that he wouldn’t take it badly. donte | 395 | outfit | *rolls* |
