After all this time, Husker still didn't feel like Gia's dog. It was probably because he sort of wasn't- she had stolen him after all, but it wasn't like he remembered, playfully snapping at her heels and trying to herd her as she sauntered through the park, the calm member of the partnership with an unlit cigarette between her lips and a coffee in her right hand, heavy work pants with stupid knee pads and a cabled sweater. Winters in Texas bummed her out. it was almost Christmastime and the weather was like, mid-October for Quebec, maybe even late September. It was pathetic, and it felt weird. when she'd decided to come here it had been summer, and the blistering southern heat had seemed like a great use for all the sunscreen she owned. However, now, the blistering southern heat had regressed to a tragic, humid room temperature.
She was going to have to go somewhere that had real, actual cold for at least part of January, before she went totally crazy. Maybe she'd try going to Oregon, or Greenland. Calgary, perhaps. Somewhere she could catch a hockey game. Husker ran circles around her, unsure of where he was herding her, but doing his best. In order to distract the boisterous dog, she produced a tennis ball from her sweater pocket and threw it as far as she could, if only for a couple of seconds during which she could light her cigarette.
She didn't smoke that often, except for her weekend, the day every so often when she would take time to do nothing, in order to appreciate the value of actually doing something - and to preserve her physical well-being. She'd probably be dead by now if not for an afternoon in the park with her ex-boyfriend's stupid dog who only responded to stupid French commands. "Husker!" she called, as he got distracted by something across the park and forgot she was there, as per usual. He was like a stupid little brother, but one that could run a lot faster than she could, and one that could get into crazy amounts of trouble. At first he'd only been a way of sticking it to an abusive partner, but he'd kind of grown on her over the months. When he returned, she took a knee- since that was what she had knee pads on her work pants for- and gave him a good scratch while he licked her face. She probably looked like a dork, but that was the weekend.

m a r l e y into a place where thoughts can bloom into a room where it's nine in the afternoon
The sky was pretty this time of year, especially now. Although Marley liked it better with a light snowfall. The park looked nice, decorated in some places for the holidays. Even some of the tree's had Christmas lights strung upon them. As she made her way through the park she couldn't help but smile at her surroundings. It had only been a few months since she moved here, and yet it seemed the place still amazed her by how beautiful it could be.
Her first winter in Addison. But all the same it was also her first Christmas alone. She had not made many friends yet, spending most of her time at work, or with her horse. She stretched her arms out and yawned before they fell to her side again.
Marley reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone, scrolling through it for a moment, seeing she had a message from her brother back in England. (Aunt Lola is making meatloaf.. please.. send help)
She giggled at this, replying that she missed them both and how she wished she could be there this year. She hoped by next year she would have the money to afford a visit. Marley then reached into her jeans pocket again, pulling out her headphones. She held them in her hands for a few moments while she walked, warming them a bit before raising them to her ears, plugging the adapter into her phone.
Marley flicked on Pandora and the song True Romance by Motion City Soundtrack came on. She giggled happily, as it was one of her favorite songs. Looking around while she hummed the song she noticed a dog that was chasing after a tennis ball before making its way back to a girl. She was eventually going to walk by the two anyway, so she put on a happy smile.
She was never one for talking, but today she seemed a little.. spontaneous. "Such a nice today isn't it?" she asked the woman with a smile. "Your dog is adorable."
ooc: sorta sucks. didn't know what I wanted to her say xP also, she's wearing jeans with a white and black striped sweater. words: 337 lyrics- panic at the disco [ nine in the afternoon ]

Gia had seen a nearby girl earlier, but she hadn't paid attention. Now, as the stranger caught Husker's attention, she stood up and brushed her hands off on her pants as he brought the ball over to the stranger, wagging his tail and trying to be cute. The dog could be incredibly protective and territorial with certain people and quite calm and friendly with others, as if he could read their intentions... What did Gia know, dogs probably could do that. She watched him being hyper for a minute, and smiled up at the girl smiling at her. She opted to ignore the comment about the weather, since there wasn't anything good she could say about warm weather in December. She expected cold, and found herself wanting. However, she did speak on her adorable dog. "His name's Husker," she said, reaching forward and scratching him on the head. He wasn't a big guy, but he had loads of energy. Gia blamed herself for never having enough time to take him out and get him really tired.
Taking one last puff of her cigarette butt, Gia removed it from her mouth and extinguished it on the bottom of her shoe. She would feel bad throwing it in the grass, so she shoved the butt in her pocket, aware of mow much she was going to regret it later when she had to put on smelly work pants and go to work reeking of old cigarette butts- but now she'd committed to it, and couldn't throw it away. "so," she said, "do you also have a dog?" Gia didn't assume that the person she was talking to did, since if you had a dog, you generally weren't going to be at the park without it. But it was worth asking, simply for the sake of conversation. Gia didn't know much at all about dogs, so she could stand to learn something.

m a r l e y into a place where thoughts can bloom into a room where it's nine in the afternoon
The dog had come up to her and she giggled happily, reaching down to scratch his head, smiling like an idiot. He really was adorable, not all that big, but not all that small either. 'He looks like an australian cattle dog.. or a shephard.. Or both.' she thought to herself, straighting up when the girl spoke to her, a smile always on her face, [ His name's Husker ]
Husker was a nice name.. she had never heard of it before. She thought about asking if it was a foregin name, but she decided against it. She looked back down at the dog, wondering what kind of dog she would get eventually, it never really came to her mind if she wanted a certain breed, or if she would just go for the first thing that called out to her. She pushed her hands into her jeans just as the other girl spoke again. [ So, do you also have a dog? ]
The blonde shook her head with a sad looking smile. "Not yet. Hopefully some day but I'm really just trying to get more settled in at the moment." Marley looked around with her bright blue eyes, the wind picking up slightly. She turned her attention back to the girl and shrugged a bit, "I work at the local animal shelter, so I get my daily dose of animals every day."
Marley ran a hand through her hair. She had just come from the shelter actually, she had passed the park on her way home and decided she suddenly didn't want to go home yet. It seemed like a good decision at the time, and so far she wasn't regretting it. The day was nice, and so far she seemed to have met someone that wasn't so bad. Although she seemed like she wasn't one for random conversations. But who was Marley to think anything of it? The girl hardly had conversations with anyone at all unless the other party started them.
ooc: sucks even more then the last one. xD words: 335 lyrics- panic at the disco [ nine in the afternoon ]
