"Calm yourself down Jax, you're fine." Landon said with a slight chuckle as his Australian Shepard tugged on the leash and was raring to go. Jax was a good dog, young dog. He was only two, and he certainly acted like it. He had a lot of energy but was impeccably well behaved, just like his horse. Landon was big on manners, so he expected his animals to be also. Those where his only two pets. His sister had a horse too, but he didn't really have much to do with it. She took care of it, she rode it. He had his dog and his horse and that was really all he needed. He had friends - of course he did, he was an avid socialite. But his animals where like his family. And his sister Kodi, of course, meant a lot to him. He loved his brother, but he didn't even have the courtesy to call every once in a while. Once reaching the pond that was in the park, he unclipped Jax's leash and let him go. The dog tilted his head and looked up at Landon, as if waiting for permission before sprinting off like the idiot that he knew was laying inside his very being. "Well go on. Don't just stand there and look at me." With that, the Shepard took off running towards the pond, yipping excitedly. A few ducks scattered and quacked as the fuzzy beast came bounding towards them. He trusted the dog not to run off so he didn't really worry about it too much. He had his soft guitar case strapped to his back with his acoustic guitar in it. He took every chance he got to practice, since someday he was going to be famous. He was damned sure of it, really. There wasn't too many people around right now, and so he didn't imagine anybody was going to bother him. Though he didn't mind people listening to him. He wanted to be a famous country music singer, and he thought he had all the makes of it. He rode horses, he played guitar, he thought he was rather good looking. He had the voice for it, that he knew. He'd been told that lots of times. He had a slight pang of a southern accent as well, which he knew a lot of people found rather attractive. He walked over to a bench not too far from the pond and pulled his guitar out of the bag, sitting on the bench and placing it on his lap. It was finely polished and probably the favorite of all of his guitars. Well, one of his favorites. He had a few that where more expensive, but his father gave him this one about two months before he was killed in the rodeo accident. So he always held a special spot in his heart. He started plucking at the strings to tune them, humming in his throat as he did so. He could tune by ear, but the humming seemed to help. He had been playing guitar for so long that he was totally self sufficient when it came to that. After tuning it, he pulled out his guitar pick - just a plain black one, since he kept his better ones back in his apartment. He wasn't going to bring any of his autographed ones with him to the park. What if they got lost? He played quietly, as to not disrupt the quietness of the park, but started to play Tattoo's on this Town by Jason Aldean. He was a big fan of Mr. Aldean, and he was one of his biggest inspirations. Aside from Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks, of course. After a few opening notes he chimed in, singing quietly, as Jax came out of the water and plodded over, shaking, before laying down in front of him with his head on his paws. tell me that we both matter dont we

She still missed home, of course, but she didn’t mind it here either, despite the difference in climates, at least the warmer months here were nice.
The last couple of months had been pretty up and down for the most part… it was funny how your life could be going perfectly fine one minute and the next you were riding a highly unpredictable emotional rollercoaster. And all because of someone who was meant to be her best friend, someone who she had cared about most in the world… and he had gone and turned that all upside down. She probably should have known that it wasn’t going to go how she thought it would when he had first kissed her, but then again it hadn’t taken her long to figure out what was going on when he had started dating Avery shortly afterwards. And then he had acted all weird when she had started dating Gage… which was confusing enough, but then instead of doing something about it he had just gone and started seeing one of the school’s cheerleaders after they had broken up with their respective partners… and then he had just left town.
It had taken her a while to come to terms with it all… but then again, nobody really blamed her for that, all things considering… and now it finally felt like things were settling down and going back to normal. Most of her siblings had left town again so it had definitely gotten quieter… and so had half her friends, it seemed, but she still had a fair few left in Addison and she was happy with that. Maybe she should have called someone to see if they wanted to go do something today, to combat the boredom she was feeling… hence why she was out walking in the cold right now… but she hadn’t really thought about that before she had left the warmth of her house not too long ago. At least the park wasn’t too far from where she lived, so it wasn’t like she had far to go.
Wandering through the park, and reaching the pond, her eyes fell on the back of a familiar head sitting on one of the benches scattered through the place, hearing the sound of his guitar playing and spotting Jax lying on the ground in front of the seat left no doubt in her mind that it was Landon. Smiling to herself, she walked over to the bench, stopping a few feet away to listen to him play, not wanting to interrupt him mid song if she could help it, waiting until he had finished before walking the rest of the way over to the bench, walking around so that she was standing in front of it now, smiling brightly at him.
“Hey… you’re sounding good,” she said, reaching down to give Jax a pat on the head, straightening up after and wiping her now resulting wet hand from patting the dog, looking like he had obviously gone swimming, on her leg.

Music had always been Landon's escape. And he much prefered to be out in the cold in the middle of winter playing his guitar rather than sitting in his shabby apartment playing his guitar. He loved the outdoors - they where his favorite place to be. Nothing beat a good walk in the park or a good trail ride. He had been thinking lately about getting another horse - but he couldn't afford it. While he loved Gunner, he wanted a more competitive reining horse. He was really starting to love the sport, even if roping was where his real heart was. There was nothing better than it in his opinion, and he knew that his horse thought so too. However, the gelding was quite good at reining, but he was just a bit too excited in the show ring to fully excell at it he thought. Unless he learned to take a chill pill. He was perfectly calm everywhere else he went, but in the show ring he thought it was time to run. Always.
Once he finished the song and slid his guitar pick into the last fret, he glanced up to see a familiar face. A broad smile spread across his face as he saw her. "Well thank you." He said, doing a mock bow - even though his guitar was still on his lap. Jax tried to lick her hand when she pet him and Landon laughed a little as he scooted over and moved his guitar case, motioning to the spot next to him. "You can sit, if you're not busy. Feels like I haven't seen you in ages." He said, as he slid his guitar back into the case and set it on the ground.
Jax was excited now and wagging his tail, hopping up so his two front paws where on the bench and wagging his tail excitedly. He had been disciplined highly not to jump on people. Landon took a lot of pride in his animals, since they where really all he had. Sure he had his friends here in Addison, but that was about it. He gently pushed the dog off the bench, and he was now standing there with his head cocked sideways like he was waiting for something. "So, Penny. What's new with you?" She smiled at her, raising an eyebrow and looking at her, his blue eyes searching her expression.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: f9f9f9; border: #d96a70 solid 10px; width: 399px; padding: 5 5 5 5px;]there's one thing i still know it's always summer in my heart & in my soul She had to head over to the barn at some point today… sort Mis out and maybe take him out for a ride, depending on how the weather was then… if it was bad and the indoor was full maybe she would wait until tomorrow to do much more with him. At least he wasn’t the sort of horse who got overly energetic if they weren’t ridden every day… and she had ridden him yesterday so it wouldn’t hurt to leave him for a day if she had to. And maybe she would go see what Avery was up to while she was over there, since her friend had moved to Crossfire now that her brother had married Beth, and she still felt like they needed to make up the awkwardness that had happened when everything with Zach had gone on.
“You’re welcome,” she answered, laughing lightly when he gave the slightly awkward looking bow due to having his guitar sitting in his lap when he attempted it, looking back down at Jax when he attempted to lick her hand, playfully pushing the dog’s head away… she’d already dried her hands from them being wet from patting him, she didn’t want to have to worry about dog slobber as well.
She shook her head when he said she could sit down if she wasn’t busy, moving to sit on the spot on the bench that he cleared for her. “No, I’m not busy, I just got sick of being inside the house so I thought I’d come out for a walk,” she replied, sitting down, crossing one ankle lightly over the other and leaning back against the back of the bench. “It does feel like it’s been ages,” she agreed, then again she had been busy with school thanks to finals so it really wasn’t that surprising that she hadn’t seen him in a while, but it was good to see him again anyway.
“Nothing too exciting’s been going on… I finish with school soon, which is good. How about you?” she asked, looking over at him again and smiling. Well, she wasn’t going to delve into all of the details of what had been doing on with her, of course… she didn’t particularly want to have to go through it all again anyway, it was over and done with now so there was no point in dwelling on it.
