personality » As thick as thieves with his brother, the pair used to share a flat just down the road from their dad while in Aus – so used to the constant presence of his brother, he discovered he is not a solitary creature and forced a friend to room with him after Finn took leave of his senses and ran off to Texas. They argue as much as you would expect brothers to, but equally, what is the point of having an identical twin if you don’t have a little fun with it? He seems a little vapid or airheaded at times as the boy doesn’t like to offend, generally, but he has a brain in his head which he occasionally uses. A keen sportsman - he plays tennis, rows and swims, as well as using the gym every so often. Unlike his father he’s not tight with his money, if he has some he’ll use it, either to buy the guys an evening of drinks or to splash out on new sports gear or some tech for his bedroom. He loves to be helpful and needed, hence his choice of career.
WE'LL TAKE CONTROL OF THE WORLD,
appearance » He is relatively tall (well, taller than his father) at just about exactly six foot. Skinny as a rake with broad shoulders and long limbs. His hair is dirty blond and hangs out over his forehead in a large quiff, it is slightly longer than his brother’s and more than covers a small stretched scar from an injury when he was small. He has no tattoos or piercings and is quite pale despite having lived in Australia his whole life. He keeps himself clean shaven as beards look a little off on him. He wears clothes – whatever he pulls out his wardrobe go onto his back.
family » Ashleigh Cumming (mother), Douglas Cumming (father), Findlay Cumming (identical twin brother), Mark Cumming (uncle)
others of importance »
LIKE IT'S ALL WE HAVE TO HOLD ON TO,
medical history » three nights in hospital and a cut on the forehead (totally Harry Potter) from being floored by his brother’s horse when they were small. Otherwise he has been pretty lucky
criminal history » nil
life history » He was born in Australia to Douglas and Ashleigh Cumming. Two Scots migrants. His brother, Findlay, dropped out the womb ten minutes before he did, Iain maintains to this day that he kicked his brother out in attempt to stay in. After the birth, however, their mother developed post natal depression, leaving Douglas to care for the boys. Within a year she seemed to have recovered with the help of a psychotherapist. However a month after the boys’ second birthday Ashleigh left, without so much of a word. By the time Douglas had gotten home from work and picked the boys up from nursery she had gone. Iain has no memories of his mum, just a few pictures in Douglas’ old albums. The only family member other than their dad he was ever exposed to was his uncle, a film maker and sculptor, who - strapped for cash due to a gambling habit despite his healthy career - has dropped by their house for a few months at a time every so often. He gets on well with his uncle and is probably more alike to him than he is to his dad.
He did reasonably well at school, despite bombing in Physics and Maths, and though he missed out on school captaincy, was on the swim team and captain of the volleyball team. Currently training as a nurse in Randwick, he’s over in Addison to visit his lovestruck fool of a brother as well as to find out who stuck a hot poker up their father’s rear.
